About Biddy's Tea Room Norwich
Biddy's is a traditional Tea Room in the heart of Norwich's bustling Lanes serving traditional cakes and loose leaf tea in a eclectic Victorian setting. We specialise in a 'create your own' afternoon tea made using the days freshly baked scones and homemade cakes from our Aylsham bakery.
We pride ourselves for our large selection of loose leaf tea, offering over 50 possible blends and even an option to mix your own!
Our Tearoom is split into a cakery and lounge downstairs for more relaxed seating to enjoy lighter options, served at the counter to either eat in or takeaway. Our upstairs floor is dedicated to our Tea Room, opened in 2011 serving our hearty lunches and speciality afternoon teas, served by a waitress.
We aren't the world's largest space, and as such cannot offer a grand afternoon affair. However if good service, homemade food, proper tea in a cozy and quirky setting are what you are after, then you have come to the right place. Welcome to Biddy's
This was our 3rd visit however not as good as our last 2 visits. I booked weeks in advance for my husbands birthday and req a window seat however both where taken by people who had got there before us but had not booked before us so seemed unfair! When you take the time to book then needs should be met! Also a fair few of the cakes that we liked the sound of had sold out(4 I believe) Sandwiches as always delicious and the waitress we had was very lovely
We always love coming to this lovely place. Thank you
This was our first visit on the occasion of my daughter's 30th birthday. We were both very impressed with the quality of the food and the friendly service.
Such a lovely setting to enjoy a catch up with family and friends with friendly inviting staff.
I love Biddy’s Tea Room, all home made & like a an old fashioned real tea. Perfect.
Service was quick and the waitress was VERY sweet - it was my partners birthday and a little “happy birthday” sign was waiting for us which was adorable! The price has gone up by a good few quid in the last year which is a bit annoying, but I NEVER leave feeling unsatisfied or hungry. Could do with working on their vegan sandwich choices, not much on their menu! The decor is lovely, but it was a touch cold - however, this is to be expected in an old building and I was able to turn on a little space heater nearby :) all in all, a lovely experience, one which I have frequented again and again and will be returning to :)
We had a very enjoyable visit with delicious food and excellent service.
We had to wait 25 minutes for a pot of tea and 35 minutes for our sandwiches and cakes. As the tea room was not particularly busy when we visited I think this is far too long to wait. The staff were pleasant and apologised to us for having to wait but the delay did spoil our experience of afternoon tea at Biddy’s.
The service was great and the food was high standard. Definitely going to come back for more!
Our afternoon tea all in all was delicious, thoroughly enjoyed it and will return at some point! Staff were lovely and attentive, couldn’t fault.
Absolutely fantastic! The afternoon tea is such a treat and everything was perfect and well thought out....even down to wrapping up our leftover cake to take home! :) The homemade cakes and scones are incredible with such a great selection available. So pleased we found you and we will most definitely be back. Thank you!
I normally love this place but the service I did not like the staff was rude not helpful and just not great I dont think I will come back
I have been here a few times and it's a lovely place with wonderful food and great for afternoon tea; however it is often let down by the service. It's really difficult to get a server's attention as they never come and check on you, or they don't make eye contact when you are trying to get their attention. I know it's a busy place but it would be nice if the servers were more available! Having said that, I went for my birthday on Saturday and we had a fabulous server (tall with dark brown hair) who was very friendly and attentive, going the extra mile to ensure we had a good time. Thank you!
Food was excellent and portion sizes were amazing. Staff were very helpful when asked questions about what we could order and what was included but once we received our food, they didnt come back to check on us or help clear the table, there was 4 of us with 4 tiers of food so we had very limited space and we had to move our empty tiers from the table so we could make more room. Other than that, the experience was thoroughly enjoyed.
The ‘Hafternoon Tea’ we had was amazing - we learnt from past experience that the smaller afternoon tea is by far enough food! And these are definitely the best scones I’ve ever had!! The young lady serving us was extremely helpful & friendly. 10 out of 10!
Having spent just shy of £100, I was utterly disappointed. Didn’t even receive any tea with our afternoon tea. I assumed that meant that I would have to pay extra for some but after consulting with my friend who’s been before - she confirmed that it should in fact be included. I feel I was completely ripped off. Shame, as it was an eagerly anticipated treat for my daughters birthday.
We had a lovely evening at Biddies. We were looked after but also left to enjoy ourselves. The food was great and all the girls enjoyed themselves. We would definitely be doing this again.
A wonderful afternoon tea experience in a qwerky take on a traditional English pastime. Friendly service with large and tasty portions!
