About Biddy's Tea Room Norwich
Biddy's is a traditional Tea Room in the heart of Norwich's bustling Lanes serving traditional cakes and loose leaf tea in a eclectic Victorian setting. We specialise in a 'create your own' afternoon tea made using the days freshly baked scones and homemade cakes from our Aylsham bakery.
We pride ourselves for our large selection of loose leaf tea, offering over 50 possible blends and even an option to mix your own!
Our Tearoom is split into a cakery and lounge downstairs for more relaxed seating to enjoy lighter options, served at the counter to either eat in or takeaway. Our upstairs floor is dedicated to our Tea Room, opened in 2011 serving our hearty lunches and speciality afternoon teas, served by a waitress.
We aren't the world's largest space, and as such cannot offer a grand afternoon affair. However if good service, homemade food, proper tea in a cozy and quirky setting are what you are after, then you have come to the right place. Welcome to Biddy's
I feel the downstairs look a lot more cosier than upstairs, as I booked a table I assumed it would be the better seating but we got put on a tiny table
Food was amazing so much we took some home
The lady who welcomed us was very nice but it went downhill from there. I had heard how Biddies Tearooms was so fantastic but we were sorely disappointed. We had the afternoon tea for two option as a special treat as we are both 50 in a month or two’s time and my friend was visiting from New Zealand and said this is what she would like to do. As Biddies was supposed to be the place to go I booked it. You can only choose one sandwich, not a mixture, there were no fruit scones left so we had a plain one each. The raspberry jam came in a small jar and the cream came in an empty jam jar which was obviously one of the previous tiny jam jars. Also you could only pick one piece of cake, not a selection as other places tend to do. My friend had the chocolate and beetroot cake and it was really dry and crumbly not lovely and moist as you would expect. I couldn’t eat my cake so asked if I could take it home whereupon one of the waitresses gave me a tray and a brown paper bag to pack it myself. My friend left half of her cake so I packed that too. It’s not somewhere I’d go again when other places give you more choice at better value and better service!
Brought my 9 year old daughter for her first experience of afternoon tea. She had been learning about world war 2 and the theme of your lovely place was the perfect setting. She loved the whole experience.
Very enjoyable time here with my sister
We used a SPREE voucher so it was very good value for money. If I didn't have a voucher I would find £11.45 quite expensive for a sandwich (2 rounds of bread) ,a piece of cake (although really delicious) and a cup of coffee. I appreciate though that this tends to be the going rate for halfternoon tea. I only gave 4 stars for atmosphere as we had limited space between our table and the one next to us so felt a bit crammed.
We had a great experience at Biddys . The service was good and the Lavender scones are to die for !
Thank you for a lovely tea for my birthday will recommend
A fabulous afternoon tea, all food was fresh and delicious with unlimited tea to wash it down with. Service was great too!
Made a lot of changes to our booking on our behalf, but biddys personnel were very adaptable and flexible. Also once there our service was very good. Would highly recommend
The food and atmosphere were great but the young staff looked like they wished to be elsewhere on a Sunday! A smile and even minimal conversation goes a long way and would have added to my otherwise great experience
Really lovely setting, decor is fantastic. Food was prepared to order and delicious. Really could not fault the afternoon tea for choice and taste! Lovely way to spend time with my mum and sister. My son (3) and daughter (1) loved the food too! We will be back again soon for sure! X
A pleasure dining at Biddys as always. Scrumptious cakes and great friendly relaxed atmosphere.
Loved it. Excellent value for money. Now having to go back on a diet. Thankyou x
Delicious afternoon tea, generous portions, took leftovers home to enjoy the next day!
We enjoyed halfternoon tea, which is just a nice amount. Sandwiches, scone and cake (lemon and poppyseed) all delicious and good service by the waitresses.
scones very heavy and not pleasant to eat. The cakes chosen were very dry and no flavour. Lemon and poppy seed was particularly poor.
Such a lovely place with the best afternoon tea. Staff and atmosphere lovely as always
Would be great if savoury tea also included a sausage roll or pork pie or quiche
Perfect food and service would 100% recommend.
Did struggle a little with room on the table
We had a lovely time, but found it not very child friendly. We had asked for a table tucked away and we were in the middle of everyone. Really enjoyed the food, but wished you could have a selection of finger sandwiches rather than just one choice.
It was our first time visiting you and we loved the quirkiness of the place. The sandwiches and cake was fantastic and so filling, so much so we had to take some cake home with us. My only criticism would be the service. After being shown to our table by the host we wasn't greeted by the waitress upstairs and being first timers would of been nice if someone was on hand to explain how it all works.
Booked Biddy's for a mother's Day celebration. Wonderful service from the moment we opened the door. Staff were very attentive. My only bug bare, is that by the time we had our afternoon tea. Half of the menu was sold out and we were quite limited in what we could have.
I took my nan and mum to the Norwich store and everything about it was great there’s not one thing we could complain about, We loved it!
