About Biddy's Kitchen Aylsham
Biddy's Kitchen is situated in the quaint market town of Aylsham, North Norfolk. It houses the bakery that makes all of the treats for Biddys' Tea Room in Norwich
Specialising in serving over 50 blends of loose leaf tea, we serve Afternoon and Cream Teas daily and although there is not always a need to book. Doing so will ensure your table is ready.
We are located in the market place itself, directly before the church. We are approximately 1 mile from the National Trust property of Blickling Hall and under 10 from the North Norfolk Coast areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We have 3 dog friendly tables inside the Tea Room as well as a dog friendly courtyard.
The main part of Aylsham branch is on one floor with ramp access to the shop.
The afternoon tea my wife & I enjoyed on Tuesday 14th August this year was excellent especially the Scones with Cream & Lemon Curd--delicious. Can thoroughly recommend Biddy's in Aylsham to everyone. Thank you to all the staff.
This was a Mothers Day present from my son. I love afternoon tea! It was an excellent idea for Biddys to state on their "card" that those with mobility problems might prefer the Aylsham branch. It would have been very disappointing to get to the Norwich branch & then find I couldn't go in due to steps/stairs! We arrived early & were greeted by a lovely young man who said arriving early wasn't a problem at all & that our table was ready. He then showed us the menu what we were able to order. I had a menu for my voucher(afternoon tea for 1) & my husband chose a similar menu but without the cake. He said the builders tea(in a pot & had 4 mug fulls) was just how he liked it! I'm not too keen on tea so I opted for (filter) coffee. Both sets of sams that we ordered were beautifully presented and tasted amazing, as were the scones. There was no way I was going to be able to eat my cake so I took it away with me. Not saying it was big, but it lasted me 3 helpings! The whole meal(s)was expensive but the service & quality of food were so good, it was worth it. We would definitely return though I would have the 2 course option my husband had and forego the cake! I did go the wrong way to the toilets - I ended up actually in the very pretty courtyard. The toilets have a very unique decoration but I'll let you see it for yourselves!
100% the best place for afternoon tea. Always such friendly staff 😊
Had to wait for 45 minutes at least for our afternoon tea to be served! Felt very uncomfortable as people were coming in and asking for coffee and cake and despite there being lots of free tables being told sorry we are too short staffed and too busy to serve. You can only come in if you have booked. Food was lovely when it arrived tho
What a wonderful experience. I booked a Mad Hatter's Tea Party for my 50th birthday & it was everything I hoped it would be. Wonderful relaxed atmosphere. We had the place all to ourselves including the garden. Sharon was a wonderful hostess, helpful but also unobtrusive. 3 hours just went by in a blur & we even got doggy bags to take away with us. I will definitely be going again as there are many teas that I would like to try & the cakes are just too difficult to stay away from.
Staff were friendly and polite. Very hot when my friend and i came - could of done with air con or a fan as quite uncomfortable with the heat.
A really excellent afternoon tea with lots of choice! Tasty sandwiches, delicious scones and cakes and a wide selection of teas - eveyone was catered for! Will definitely be visiting again.
Nice food, but it was a shame about finding a hair.
Absolutely fantastic. The best afternoon tea we have had. Will be coming again. Thank you
Only thing that I would say was that £5 for half a ham sandwich for a 2 year old is a little bit much. I never mind paying for him to eat but that’s quite a bit to be fair
Will definitely be returning!
Yes food lovely and tables in court yard. But booking was a nightmare. I began to think you did not want customers. Could not book by phone nor in person. Then having to give you my card PLUS cvv . Which i was not happy with. Due to cloning or scamming. Then a hue ha that we had to book 2 tables. As could not serve a large party altogether. When in fact when we went into courtyard the tables were kindly put altogether and we were all served at the same time. So why all the fuss in the beginning. ?
Perfect in every way possible, highly recommended
Great choice of tea and excellent food.
Food is delicious and fresh which is great, there is a fantastic array of teas to chose from including fruit tea so there really is something for everyone. Not so keen on having to go to the counter to order a full afternoon tea by at lest we were able to get the bill when we were ready for it.
I took my friend for afternoon tea and we found all the food to be delicious, fresh and filling! The cake selection was AMAZING!
Our requested e-mail re. vegan preferences went unanswered and with no phone number provided to confirm it'd been received, we arrived to find that only the reservation had got through. So the staff had provided something, but not what would have been requested. So now can't be confident of booking again. Not the girls fault & service was friendly & attentive. Too full for the cakes, I asked to take them away with us but when we unpacked them at home, one was missing. Not as good an experience as before. Booking system obviously subject to failure, if e-mails not picked up and acknowledged, thus leading to disappointed customers.
Having been to both Norwich and Aylsham we def prefer Aylsham as it’s much more relaxed and not as tight for space however still not great if you have a buggy. Food is nice, large portions but not somewhere to go if you want a classic afternoon tea ie mixed sandwiches and small cakes. We were fully aware of this so it didn’t worry us. We were never asked if would like more tea which I think is a must. Maybe a bit more interaction from staff wouldn’t go unnoticed even to ask if everything is ok etc. Would go again maybe not for afternoon tea but the rest of the menu looked tempting. We ordered half a cheese sandwich for our 3 year old so he could have something too as they did not have any sausage rolls, when it came to paying we did think this was overpriced considering it was 1 slice of bread and a very small amount of grated cheese. One thing I would say is the cakes are delicious.
After eventually getting a booking. We were very impressed with the food and service it was explained very clearly to us and we had a disabled person in our group they reserved us a table which we could access easily. Would definitely recommend.
Always fresh food, friendly service, very accommodating as we were out for my partners birthday, they lit a candle for him in his cake and offered to sing for him :) would highly recommend Biddy’s in Aylsham.
I was quite disappointed with our recent visit to Biddys.our table was booked for 3.30 and we arrived on time. However our food and drink did not arrive until 4.20! I understand there are elements of the afternoon tea that cannot be prepared until ordered but we sat waiting without even the offer of a drink. Surely once our tea choice had been made it could have been brought over for us while we waited for the food, it was a hot day after all. I appreciate it was quite busy when we arrived, can I suggest that during such busy periods a member of staff speaks to the customers and apologises for the delay? The food was nicely presented, the sandwiches were lovely. However, the cake was rather dry in texture and my scone was dense. On a positive note we were not rushed to leave and couldn’t have left any sooner due the delay in our arrival of food. The staff cleared up around us and we left the building around 5.15. I would return again but possibly just for the sandwiches as they were by far the best part of tea.
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon tea. We were seated in the courtyard, and it was so relaxing! Facilities were lovely and the food was wonderful. Have already been recommending to friends and planning next visit.
Lovely afternoon tea. Excellent customer service. Changed my sons sandwich when mustard added by mistake
