About Biddy's Kitchen Aylsham
Biddy's Kitchen is situated in the quaint market town of Aylsham, North Norfolk. It houses the bakery that makes all of the treats for Biddys' Tea Room in Norwich
Specialising in serving over 50 blends of loose leaf tea, we serve Afternoon and Cream Teas daily and although there is not always a need to book. Doing so will ensure your table is ready.
We are located in the market place itself, directly before the church. We are approximately 1 mile from the National Trust property of Blickling Hall and under 10 from the North Norfolk Coast areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We have 3 dog friendly tables inside the Tea Room as well as a dog friendly courtyard.
The main part of Aylsham branch is on one floor with ramp access to the shop.
We had a lovely Christmas afternoon tea. Delicious food as always and very cosy setting.
A lovely substantial afternoon tea. Great to have vegan available in equal status to other options rather than a ‘tag on’ . Thank you
A lovely afternoon tea, just what we needed!
I LOVE Biddys and it was so great to be back. I always leave feeling utterly content. The scones were delicious, the cakes were heavenly and the sandwiches were to die for. Dead happy with COVID restrictions too, good social distancing with separated tables and the fact that our server had a mask (not everywhere has done this and I wish they would!)
Messaged ahead and asked for an out of the way table as one of us is in the extremely vulnerable group and a non mask wearer. We were placed in a lovely out of the way table which was ideal, Afternoon tea for 2 and as usual fantastic choice , sandwiches made to order , scone and cream , and a cake as big as your head ! . Bottomless coffee and tea . Can’t rate this place high enough . Not as busy as normal due to restrictions, but the staff were pleasant and happy to help .
We did have a lovely tea for two which we enjoyed but did find that some of the portions were a bit large like the scone and cakes ,so we did'nt eat everything and the staff were very sweet to give us a box to put our cakes in to take home. Thank you again and Happy Christmas to you all and a Happy New Year and hope to see you in the New Year.
Loved it ! Brought a friend for her first time Biddys tea and so did she ! So scrummy x lots of tea and everything so fresh ! Look forward to coming again post lockdown x
I’ve been going to both Biddys since it first opened I took my friend to the Aylsham Biddys for her special birthday she’s a vegan and we both had the full afternoon tea the sandwiches were lovely we ate most of the scones but they were quite dry and very stodgy we took the vegan cakes home with us as we were quite full and the lemon cake was actually inedible it was so dry but actual hard I couldn’t even cut it literally! Never ever have I had a cake so awful the other cake was meant to be biscoff and it was just chocolate ?? Very very disappointing and embarrassing as this was a treat I’ve never had this happen at Biddys before !! No one came and asked us if everything was ok we weren’t offered a hot top up of tea I know we are living in strange times at the mo and we are trying to support local small businesses we bought the voucher to keep places like Biddys going but this was just off putting everyone has off days I will be becoming back was just disappointing
We took our niece for a special treat for her 40th birthday. Our waitress was aware it was her birthday and made sure she felt special. A candle was put in her cake. I had a bidding milkshake and the young lady who made it came to make sure it was ok. We would highly recommend both Biddys in Aylsham and Norwich as have visited both.
This was our third visit to Aylsham and have really enjoyed each one. When our drinks arrived, no teaspoons came with them and it took some time before anyone emerged from the kitchen so we could attract their attention to bring any. I have to say all the staff we saw were very pleasant, thank you. Our afternoon teas were really lovely once again, and as usual we brought the sweets home with us. We are looking forward to Bakewell Tart for dessert this evening! Just a couple of points regarding the current covid situation. We weren’t asked if we had scanned the QR code on the door upon entry, or asked to fill in a test and trace form, and I was a little surprised to not see any hand sanitiser on exit from the ladies, although there was some just inside the front door. Perhaps these points could be considered for the future.
We really enjoyed our Afternoon Tea. It was good to have a wide choice of sandwiches and cakes rather than just having a limited number of options as you do sometimes. Atmosphere was a little limited by Covid restrictions but this is no fault of Biddys
Best afternoon tea I’ve had.
The food was amazing, staff very friendly with a relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be going back.
Such a lovely calm atmosphere in your aylsham branch. Food all delicious and served well. We had a lovely afternoon. I always recommend biddys to anyone looking for afternoon tea in the area! Thank you!
Had a lovely afternoon tea. The cake was delicious and great value for money!
Lovely food and very pleasant, helpful staff
Great food, lovely staff
Delightful afternoon tea, always have to take some home.
Excellent service from all the staff, kind, friendly and accommodating as I had my dog with me. All the staff made a fuss of him. Wonderful cakes as well
Have visited and enjoyed lunches before but this was our first afternoon tea here. It will also be the last. By the very nature of it, it's likely be for a special occasion but we waited 40 minutes for one sandwich, one huge slice of very nice cake and the most disappointing scone we've ever tasted. The scone came with a small jar of raspberry jam (I asked if there was strawberry instead but was told that's all they do) and an equally small jar of cream. We then had to ask again for our tea and coffee, which could have come whilst we were waiting for our food. There was no suggestion of a top up of the mug of coffee (which was just a basic coffee as there are no choices available). This really doesn't constitute afternoon tea. Had the sullen assistant shown any interest in us at any time we might have felt better, but although we were greeted by a lovely lady, unfortunately we didn't get served by her. The waitress sent to take our order could barely be bothered to ask what we wanted. She eventually had to ask us again what drinks we'd ordered and at no point were we spoken to again to see if everything was OK. It was all so very disappointing after we'd looked forward to the experience so much as it was given as a treat for a celebration. I've given 1 star for recommending to a friend and for service but that's only because I was unable to give none on this system. I'll have tea and cake here again, but wouldn't recommend afternoon tea unless changes are made.
Couldn't fault the afternoon tea - absolutely delicious and there was so much food!! Was a really excellent experience.
