About Bertie's restaurant @ Ruthin Castle Hotel & Spa
The AA rosette awarded "Bertie's" restaurant at 4 star Ruthin Castle Hotel & Spa
Lovely restaurant, great food and superb service.
The main meal was absolutely lovely, however again disappointed with the size of the starter, the prawn cocktail was served within two inside leaves of a very small lettuce, about eight prawns if that and very little sauce. The main meal made up for it though.
Tybed pam nad oedd bwydlen arbenning i nodi Diwrnod Santes Dwynwen. Fuasai hynnu wedi bod yn berffaith.
The food was very good, but the portions (particularly the scallop starter) were small and not consistent with the price. The wine was good but overpriced. You do not employ enough staff; the waitresses were overstretched, stressed and rushed
Had to wait 45 minutes for the starter to arrive, constantly had to ask for service. waitress was more concerned about laying tables for the breakfast service. One meal requested was tagliatelle which should have included salmon this was replaced without warning for what appeared to be cod, a totally different taste which spoit the meal On check out was asked to pay for the full supplementary charge not the difference (this was amended)
Ordered cheese & crackers £11 no selection of crackers just one type of cracker with 3 different tiny slices of cheese. Two tiny three inch of celery around 10 grapes and a splattered chutney on plate 🤷🏻♀️ Oh and was given nothing to slice or eat it with ... no one came back to see if it was ok .
From start to finish the meal was amazing. Particularly the smoked mackerel and the lemon chicken risotto
It was all great and we paid 4 our wine and Irish cream drinks b4 we left but when we was checking out of hotel we was told we ad to pay 4 lamb which we never ad as we ad the belly pork n bottle of wine but we paided 4 our wine n Irish cream drinks b4 we left restaurant and the woman behind counter showed me the bill with signature what wasnt mine safe to say we didnt pay
I received no response to two telephone messages and only received a call back when I e mailed. Natalia however was very polite and helpful when she rang in response to my e mail. The afternoon tea was not presented how I expected, in fact it was quite sparse and I am convinced the scones were from Tesco, certainly not home made. Quite disappointing but relieved we had not paid full price for the experience. If I could leave no stars for value for money, I would!
Truly enjoyable meals on two separate evenings, exceptional quality food served by welcoming staff in a wonderful setting. Terrific value for money.
Every spoonful/forkful was packed with different flavours! Well done Bertie’s!
A Short Break for my Wife and myself and couldn't have asked for more, the staff could not do enough for us to ensure that we had a PERFECT 4 DAYS. Every thing from arriving to leaving was 100% and we felt like part of the family..
Food was delicious, staff seemed a little rushed/busy however the restaurant was full.
Excellent high quality food, very impressed! Would definitely go again! Thanks alot! :)
Beautiful meal. However we had a package that included two courses and a bottle of wine and found out on checkout that we were charged £25 for desserts which should have been part of the deal, we disputed this and it was refunded. Good atmosphere in the dining room and attentive staff. The heating needed to be turned up in the library bar though
Excellent food and service from friendly helpful staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal of delicious Scallops followed by tasty Lamb. All with excellent Italian red wine.
Everything was perfect We all enjoyed the experience
After booking a table in advance for Berties restaurant is was disappointing to find the restaurant was closed and we had to dine in the lounge when going to dinner, This affected the service and ambience. No explanation .or apology was offered so overall it was very disappointing.
See my review on Trip Advisor. Excellent service from bar man on duty in Library Bar who served us.
Lovely meal, just not very busy
Nice selection of cakes but could have done with a lot more sandwiches. There wasn’t enough for 5 people.
Excellent quality, service and value for money Sunday Lunch. We will return.
The restaurant is very tired, along with the hotel. Food OK, nothing special. No port available with the cheese. Breakfast was not enjoyable, very greasy, with cheap sausages and bread. The tea was also cold. Sadly I did not enjoy breakfast and left the majority of it. A shame but the food did not come up to the standard I would expect from the hotel.
Excellent food and service, staff very attentive .
