About Bertie's restaurant @ Ruthin Castle Hotel & Spa
The AA rosette awarded "Bertie's" restaurant at 4 star Ruthin Castle Hotel & Spa
The groupon deal was very reasonable, the food was really nice. I wouldn't pay the normal price though.
lovely food, very well presented.
Very polite, friendly and efficient service
Loved the surroundings. Loved the whole experience. Very helpful and friendly staff.
We were due to come for the sunday roast back in April, for my friend and I usual half term get together but due to covid it was postponed. I booked for yesturday, but had some reservations because of some TripAdvisor comments,so we were going in prepared for the worst. There was hand sanitizer place in various places. We waited to be seated in the restaurant, and it seemed very busy. The lady took us to our table and said she would be back in 10 mins. We ordered our food and was pleasantly surprised 2 people had the mackerel and 2 had the mushrooms starters. Starters were lovely, but still being cautious as we had 2 more courses left. 1 had pork and 3 had beef roast dinner. There was just the right amount portion wise as we were having 3 courses. The beef just melted in your mouth no chewing, and friend really enjoyed her pork, and the crackling. We couldn't fault it. Desserts 1 had brownies 3 had cheesecake, and again it was lovely. All 3 courses were thoroughly enjoyed by all 4 of us,there were nothing left on our plates, which is very rare. The staff was very polite and was attentive. We would definitely come back again.
The wait staff were fantastic, super attentive and helpful. The chef made me the most delicious food, working around my plethora of dietary restrictions. Cannot recommend highly enough
Beautiful hotel, great customer service. Would Definitely recommend.
We had 2 meals during our stay. The meals were beautiful and the staff and service was excellent.
Everything was loverly
Sadly not a good meal. My pate was served warmer than the tepid mushroom starters potatoes missing from one meal and beef cheek was tough and dry.
I treated my children to afternoon tea, the staff are so lovely and welcoming and the food was wonderful, felt very special and will certainly be back! Thank you
Probably the best afternoon tea we have had there, service was excellent, thanks
The food was horrible
Lovey staff and beautiful place .good value for money would stay again and try the spa Excellent breakfast You suggest In room tea and coffee was only thing lacking choice and given we had 3 in the room not enough to go round.
Good coronavirus measures in place. Polite & friendly staff. Food good quality for the price.
I don’t usually leave reviews. Totally appreciate the size of the hotel and working on skeleton staff(which where all very nice) The quality of the food personally thought was very poor, for the hotel it could be with a bit of investment! Evening meal and breakfast were very poor quality and no effort from the kitchen!
Friendly and polite staff who worked extremely hard to ensure guests needs where met considering they had coronavirus restrictions in place.
Excellent value for money Excellent venue Restaurant full which shows it is good. We have lived in Ruthin for 18 years and never seen the Restaurant at Hotel so busy
Very good food and service
We had a relaxing stay at Ruthin Castle. The atmosphere and the food were superb the staff were welcoming and friendly. Despite the covid 19 measures in place our stay 2 night stay was excellent. Garry O'Malley - York
Our room was lovely. The service was lovely. The evening meal was ok but the breakfast Was very disappointing and it is this that would put us off coming back to stay.
Excellent and professional service
Fantastic service, lovely receptionist, the castle was beautiful and the food exquisite. A* from me.
A shockingly bad meal! Firstly, the `prawns with Marie Rose sauce and baby gem lettuce` was a mess on a plate. My partner and I had no green showing other than a slither of avocado - we must have had the very bottom stork of the lettuce rather than the vibrant green leaves. Main course was spaghetti puttanesca. Again, very disappointing. I have 4 small green olives, 3 slithers of tomato and a small portion of poor spaghetti. Very dry and little flavour. I asked the waitress for some olive oil to improve it a little, only to be told on her return from the kitchen that you didn’t have any! Dessert should have been brownies and vanilla ice cream. However, you had no vanilla ice cream and brownies were appalling. Guys, the uptake on vegetarianism is huge - you cannot get away with a single option on the menu and put a totally sub-standard dish in front of paying customers. Contract this with a meal we had at The Druid Inn - 4 excellent vegetarian mains on the menu, 2 of which were vegan. We know that the hotel is under new management and realise that it is a huge project. But, you really must get a professional restaurant manager and quality trained chef with high standards in order to avoid these reviews. The talk in the lounge areas of the hotel after the meal seemed to be on how bad residents meals were.
