About Beechfield House
A stunning 4 AA red star, 2 AA rosette, relaxed country house hotel near Bath in Wiltshire with 2 private dining rooms and 2 restaurant spaces. Perfect for chilling, eating and drinking. Dog and family-friendly.
We have enjoyed a wonderful 2 night stay at Beechfield House and can not fault it at all. We stayed in ‘yew’ room, which was very clean & comfortable, we had everything we needed in the room. We had breakfast & afternoon tea which was very tasty and enjoyable. Would definitely come back again.
Lovely welcome very relaxing throughout the hotel and beautiful grounds. Would recommend for a peaceful get away.
Enjoyed our evening, anniversary celebration. Thanks
Great food, lovely evening all round
We had a great time celebrating our wedding anniversary with afternoon tea. The staff were very attentive & the food was lovely. We also enjoyed exploring the grounds afterwards.
Cozy tea room overlooking beautiful gardens - the fireplace was on and the scones were delicious.
Today' visit was by way of a Christmas Voucher from our grandchildren & it was only today we were able use because of lockdown & hotel slowly trying to get back to normal We had the Wiltshire Cream Tea, 2 scones with jam & cream plus a pot of tea We were only guests so no atmosphere Much as we enjoyed what we had I certainly would not have paid £23 ( I am sure my family did not pay that amount when they purchased the vouchers ) I think they paid £15, even that would have been very expensive for the very small scones we had Therefore I will not recommend & sadly will not return
The stay was almost there but not quite. It started with the bathoroom not being clean. The room was also tired, next to bath there was mold and paint coming off walls, light wasn't working above the sink. Also ceiling in bedroom had multiple damp patches. Dinner took an age to arrive and the quality of the food was not as we had expected from pictures. Pork belly was not cripsy at all. When we asked for additional things it seemed as if we were putting the waitress out. Same for breakfast. We had ordered one without beans for the children and when we informed the waitress the reaction was very much well what do you want me to do about it. Also little things like no tea spoons with the tea for breakfast. Has the potential to be excellent, however currently not quite there.
After receiving a lunch voucher as a Christmas gift last year I was informed by Beechfield House that they no longer do lunch and a refund was not possible. They advised that the voucher had a value of £45 and I would have to use it for something else, I wasn't prepared to pay extra for dinner and after some emails discussing this Gaelle (restuarant manager) apologised and said we could have dinner for the same price. When arriving for our dinner another restaurant manager was on duty and obviously had no idea of the emails and again advised the voucher had a worth of £45, I explained again and showed him the emails and said that with having to keep explaining the fun and enjoyment had been taken out of going for dinner, he finally agreed after i showed him the emails I had received. I found he was quite cocky and didnt apologise once for the mis-communication. The food was definitely not 4 star and neither was the service, the griddle needed cleaning and thats all you could smell whilst waiting for dinner. I would never go to Beechfield house again! I have put one star as it wouldnt let me submit my review without putting anything but actually I wouldnt have given any stars!
We were really well looked after. Unfortunately, due to the current issues, the hotel was pretty empty, so not much atmosphere. However, we were made to feel very welcome. The food was splendid, really good.
We enjoyed an amazing afternoon tea on Sunday. My partner is gluten free and the hotel couldn’t have been more accommodating. Highly recommended great value and quality
We enjoyed an excellent tea with a good selection of sandwiches and cakes, all beautifully presented. Perfect to celebrate a special occasion.
Enjoyable full cream tea
We had a most excellent experience having afternoon tea.
Afternoon tea with a friend, I love this hotel and it was the perfect place for us to get together made special by good service, good champagne and a lovely afternoon tea
Really nice afternoon tea.
Lovely setting. Attentive staff. Covid safe. Fresh tasty food. A lovely indulgent afternoon tea.
Absolutely lovely afternoon tea, the staff member who served us was fantastic. Sorry I can’t remember his name but he was so friendly, polite and welcoming he really made the experience even better for us. Felt very safe visiting in these strange times and would certainly come again. Thank you, the food and drinks were also delicious of course
Lovely afternoon tea in lovely surroundings.
The staff and service was excellent. The only comment I would make is that due to the tick system for breakfast a couple of the breakfasts items were mixed up on the plates. Maybe a separate sheet for each person would be better, than than per room.
Finger food provided for a small group gathering was not very refined. They also overlooked that vegan & vegetarian plates ordered, so 3 guests unable to take part in refreshments. I did expect better from somewhere that promotes i itself as a quality hotel.
From starters mussels were nice, but hard to go wrong there, mackrel was very average, something i could have bought from a shop. For main Lamb was very nice, chicken was very basic for this kind of place. Deserts were indeed very nice and felt gourmet
Beechfield house is in a great location, is a beautiful house and the staff are very pleasant but the quality of both afternoon tea and cream tea food were disappointing, not good quality (or in some respects home made) so not worth the money paid. Earl grey tea and coffee were ok (standard). I will probably go to bowood next time.
