About Beaucliffes Restaurant
: Located at Porth Veor Manor Hotel on the outskirts of Newquay in Cornwall, Beaucliffes Restaurant is open to both hotel guests and non-residents. The restaurant occupies a light and airy conservatory overlooking the hotel gardens and beach at Porth. Serving continental and full Cornish breakfasts and dinner, Sunday lunches and special occasion meals, the restaurant chefs strive to include plenty of locally sourced seasonal ingredients in the varied menus. Freshly cooked specialities include seafood dishes, fillets of west country meat, vegetarian and gluten free options. A children’s dinner menu is also available with earlier sittings. Advance booking is recommended.
Very disappointed with our last visit. This would have been our 5th time at dinning in your restaurant for an evening meal. Unbeknown to us the menu had been changed so everything we asked for ie prawn cocktails was declined. We decided to have the steak option, and the majority of it was returned being unable to consume due to being so tough it would’ve been better at being shoe leather. Also we ordered the billionaires shortbread cheesecake which turned out to be chocolate torte. This weekend was to celebrate my wife’s birthday, but we returned home very disappointed.
Food was excellent so was the service, atmosphere, bit quiet, not busy but we had a great evening,
We had a wonderful time. We have been returning for quite a few years now and we are happy to continue to do so. Lovely rooms, well look after, great meals, and the Hotel is so well placed, next to a lovely beach. Couldn't be happier
We had a lovely meal at Beaucliffes Restaurant. It was well cooked and delicious. The staff are excellent and the atmosphere is good.
Lovely Sunday lunch. Will definitely go back
We had two lovely meals in the restaurant during our stay at the hotel. On both occasions the starters were excellent, the mackerel being sufficient for two! As on previous visits the service was first class. After dinner mints would have been nice with the coffee but apart from that no complaints 😃
Candle on the table would have been nice. There was a holder but no candle. Other than that no complaints
We planned to eat there on the first night only, but decided to book in for the following night as well, as the food was really good and filling. We ended up sharing a desert on our first night as we were too full and couldn't manage the desert on the second night. The Cornish breakfast was also extremely good. Thumbs up to the chef. I could recommend the Fish and Chips and the Pork Belly.
Felt really well looked after, food was excellent, wonderful setting and friendly ladies serving us!
We had a lovely stay, just relaxing for the weekend. Thank you so much. Hopefully we can come and stay again very soon. Regards Amanda.
We thoroughly enjoyed Lunch on New Years Day. The food was excellent: starters main course beef and the mushroom option but the desserts were outstanding. Best apple and pear crumble ever. Thank you hope to join you again another time. All the best for 2020
It's always worrying when you book a big family meal for Christmas day lunch. We were not disappointed, the staff were friendly, the food selection was excellent (only criticism would be that we had baby sweetcorn and no parsnips - but that maybe personal preference). The portion sizes were more than enough, we had a varity of starters and puddings, all were absolutely delicious. Our table consisted of 5 adults, 3 teens and 2 children, all of us loved our food. The atmosphere was great, with plenty of Christmas cheer between the tables. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Thank you Porth Veor Manor.
Hi Rachel, thank you for taking the time to leave us your comments. It's such a pleasure to hear that our team added to your day and it wouldn't be Xmas lunch if the other tables didn't get involved :) Thank you for your mention of parsnips, when we start preparing our Xmas 2020 menu, we will definitely consider adding them! From all the team here at Porth Veor Manor we wish you a happy and healthy 2020!
We were welcomed for Christmas Day lunch at the Beaucliffe with my Parents-in-Law who had flown in from the U.S.A. to join us for a Christmas week in Cornwall. It was the first experience of a traditional U.K. Christmas Lunch for them and Beaucliffe's did an excellent job in delivering said event with style and panache. We would like to extend our grateful thanks to all the staff who worked that day, to make our Christmas Day such a wonderful memory. My Mother-in-Law having her paper "Crown" dislodged by a well-aimed whizz-balloon is a visual memory I shall never forget. Welcome to England .... this is how we truly celebrate in the U.K.
Hi Mrs Clarke, thank you for taking the time to leave your comments, it's always great to hear these stories, something i'm sure your Mother-in-Law will also never forget! We have ave shared your review with our staff who are glad to have added to have played their part on the day. From all the team at Porth Veor Manor, thank you again and we wish you a happy and healthy 2020
We really enjoyed the meal lovely atmosphere
Hi Mr Blackburn, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we're delighted that you enjoyed your New Years lunch with us and hope that we can welcome you back in future. From all the team here at Porth Veor Manor, thank you and we wish you a happy and healthy 2020!
A really enjoyable experience, with excellent service. My partner is Vegan, and whilst the soup was listed as Vegan, on this occasion were told it had butter in it The Chef prepared a fresh green salad as a starter. The Vegan main course was a delightful butternut squash curry and there was Vegan ice-cream/sorbet on the menu/ We also had an evening meal the following night and when we booked it the Chef asked what my partner would like cooked for her and prepared a vegetable risotto. I am vegetarian/pescatarian and had Sea Bass for one meal, beautifully cooked and what turned out to be far from 'standard' fish and chips the second night. It goes without saying that the fish was fresh, but what should be noted is the crispy-lightness of the fish batter and the hand-cut 'double fried' chips. RECOMMENDED.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review, we love hearing such great feedback (all feedback is of course welcome but reviews like yours really make our day). I have passed it on to our restaurant and kitchen teams as they will be delighted by your comments! We are sorry that the soup on the day contained dairy but as with all of our dishes, our kitchen are more than happy to make some changes or prepare something fresh :) From all of the team here at Porth Veor Manor, may we wish you and your partner a very happy and healthy 2020 and we hope to welcome you back one day!
We had an excellent time at Beaucliffes Restaurant on Christmas day with all the family. Great atmosphere, helpful staff and superb food.
Hi Ray, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we are so pleased that you and your family had such a special day and that our team were able to play their part. From all of us here at Porth Veor Manor may we wish you a happy and healthy 2020 and hope to welcome you back in the future!
Very disappointing meal. We visited on Friday night just after Christmas. It wasn’t busy, but that was expected, given the date. The starters were nice and good sized portions. When finished the plates were removed but side plates and the 1970s wooden bowl bread basket were left on the table. The main courses arrived. I had chosen rump steak and had asked for it to be cooked rare. It was mostly well done but with the thickest part in the middle being medium. My wife ordered the mushroom risotto which was very bland and so overcooked it was more like a rice pudding. When the plates were collected by the waiter he asked if everything was alright and I explained politely that both dishes were very overcooked. He simply replied ‘oh, okay’ and nothing more was said. No apology. We were then simply ignored for 10 minutes so asked for the bill, paid and left without even seeing a desert menu. Overall a disappointing experience and we would not return.
Dear Mr Wilcox, We would like to thank you for your recent feedback regarding your recent dining experience with us. We do pride ourselves on offering great value, service and a good range of well cooked dining options. This is reflected by the vast majority of our reviews. However, I can see that clearly we have let you down on this occasion and that is very disappointing to us, for this we are truly sorry. We would normally strive to offer you the opportunity of a new dish or perhaps a refund if you were not entirely satisfied, your review has highlighted a clear training need for our staff and we appreciate you drawing our attention to this, we will follow this up with all relevant staff. We would love the opportunity to try and redeem ourselves in your eyes and would like to invite you to contact us to discuss further? Thanks again for your feedback, we hope to hear from you soon. Stephen (Beaucliffes Restaurant)
Second time for us for dinner on Christmas day. We are not local, but stay in Newquay for the Christmas week. The atmosphere in the restaurant is like no other - it's like a family affair with both patrons and staff embracing the spirit. The restaurant is spacious and the food excellent. All the staff were attentive and genuinely friendly.

Although the service was generally pretty good it seemed to be erratic and poorly managed which resulted in us being asked the same question by different staff numerous times. Despite mentioning my name was Mike and not Mark. The good quality was good but we felt it was overpriced. MIKE Arnold
Great food and excellent service
4th visit to Porth Veor Manor always very good that is why we keep going back.
