Haven't been for a while. Would never have recommended it before. Big improvement. Very enjoyable and relaxing before the pantomime, not hurried or rushed then wandered out for our seats when we were ready. Food was excellent. SERVICE was good. We will be back. Thank you.

Automated booking system poor. Took 4 attempts before I finally spoke to someone. E-mail confirmation gave me 2 different times.. What`s wrong with someone answering the phone and it would have been completed in a few minutes. If I was recommending you to anyone, I would certainly point out the booking system..

We are sorry you found difficulty in making your booking directly with a member of staff. During service, our restaurant team can be waiting on tables resulting in unanswered calls. This was unacceptable and as vast improvement of service, we introduced our new booking system. By utilising this service you will see that it put’s control into the hands of the customer. You are now able to easily book via 4 methods. 1st by your mobile calling our designated booking number, 2nd our website. 3rd Facebook and 4th through the ResDiary App. We would recommend downloading the ResDiary App for Apple and Android phones. This fantastic App will not only enable you to book the Beacon, but restaurants anywhere you may be visiting. We are delighted that you enjoyed our food and the changes we have implemented. Food was lovely, quite upmarket from our previous visits, though a lot dearer. Quite expensive for a family meal. Major problem with service, we were told it was the new ordering system which was not working properly. The problem need to be resolved, and quickly. Staff were all very pleasant and attentive, so can't fault them. Hope to be back soon and enjoy a meal served a lot more promptly, we have not given up on you!

I'm want to stay positive with this feedback but I do have one or two issues. Firstly the menu there isn't a starter on the menu. Too be honest what menu does not have soup on. I would have thought it is one of the most popular starts. The main courses are OK, the hake was lovely. Desserts well the blueberry ice cream was tasteless and the basil ice cream overpowering. I had cheese and biscuits twice the second time there was less cheese and fewer biscuits. Considering it was quiet the service was slow. Finally the cost £21 for 2 courses and £23 for 3 courses. That is a big jump. We come to theatre a lot and always have a meal so over just two nights that is £16 more expensive than the previous menu. I hope you rethink your prices or you may lose our custom which would be a shame.

Thank you for your feedback and glad your enjoyed your Hake and Turkey dishes. We have four festive starters consisting of (1) Hot Smoked Salmon and Piccalilli (2) Vegetarian Haggis Needs & Tatties and a Whisky Mustard Sauce. (3) Miso (Japanese) Pork, Roasted Red Pepper Relish, Ham Croquette and Apple Chutney. (4) Chicken Liver Pate, Pickled Vegetables and Sourdough Bread. You are correct about No soup on the menu. We decided not to have this as it is available eleven months of the year and we wanted to do something special for Christmas. I have passed your comments regarding the Blueberry flavoured ice cream to the Chefs and we will arrange a tasting today. You will find our menu changing on a monthly/seasonal basis and rest assured soup is back on the menu come January. Regarding our menu prices we feel it is comparable to all other local establishments at this time of the year. We do hope to see you in the New Year and wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas. The restaurant team.

We received a lukewarm welcome with no real greeting and were sat at a table with no cutlery. We were then left with no menus. After a few minutes I said we had booked for lunch and could we have a laid up table. Eventually we got menus but had to ask for the kids menu. No one seemed in charge and all seemed to be quite unsure of what they were doing. There was then a mix up with the stater resulting in my mum getting her main course an hour after we had sat down. The kids had finished eating and gone to play outside. The chicken goujons on the children’s menu were frozen chicken nuggets which was disappointing.

We are sorry for the confusion. Unfortunately we had burst water pipe in our beer store which took our restaurant supervisor away from front of house. This left some new members of staff, in some cases only with us since the middle of last month. We are so sorry for your bad experience and can assure you that we will learn from this. All staff will review your comments as part of our continuous improvement programme. Regards the children’s menu, you are correct we do cook chicken nuggets from frozen but this is no different to restaurants across the country. Very disappointing that despite booking a table for 12.15 it was fully another hour later before the main courses were served. Bearing in mind the panto started at 2.00 pm this did not leave a lot of time to eat, finish drinks and find seats, which were in the upper circle. It seems that booking a table was a waste of time - sorry but it's the truth. The food however was very good.

We are sorry that you felt the service was slow for your party of 4. I have checked the system and can see that your table was booked for 12:15. We book customers in at 15 minute intervals to assist the chefs during busy periods. I see you were seated at 12:26 with the starter and mains requested at 12:32 and 12:40 I guess some of your party choose to miss a course and go to sweet. Sweets were requested at 13:18 and your bill was presented at 13:49. All food is made fresh to order and are delighted that you enjoyed the food. Our aim is to give you enough time to have your meal and sit and enjoy a drink before heading to your seat. Rest assured we will try and do better the next time. Thank you from the restaurant team.
