About Bay Tree Restaurant
When you visit our Cotswolds restaurant, we want you to relax while we inspire your taste buds with exciting dishes from our seasonal menus that have been especially designed to satisfy your culinary cravings. We celebrate the fantastic array of local ingredients available on our doorstep and have used chef’s creative innovation and skillful technique to deliver their flavours in all their glory. This is British food at its finest in an atmosphere that is both welcoming and homely. Admire the beautiful views of our walled garden during the day and immerse in the intimate ambiance of evening dining with the flickering candlelight that helps to set the mood.
Our friendly team of experienced staff are always ready to make a recommendation or two. They will also pair your dishes with wines from the fabulous collection of bottles housed in our impressive wine wall that takes centre stage in the room for all wine lovers to admire.
Service was really slow. We didn’t have a starter and it took 55 minutes to get our main course which was then served missing part of the order.
Thankyou it was a 10/10 visit for us
The hotel is beautifully quaint tucked away from the high street. We arrived on the first day of reopening and the service was excellent. We stayed in one of the garden rooms which was comfortable with an enchanting view. Dinner was reasonably good but may have expected better value from a 4 star rated hotel. Breakfast was better. Hotel has plenty of parking and easy access to the high street. The Lamb Inn along the road is also worth a visit- it has a lovely garden for taking afternoon tea. We would come back.
This was our 6th visit to The Bay Tree Hotel and the quality of the food and the friendly service will, we are sure, keep bringing us back.
A bit disorganised but very attentive staff. Could do with lowering the lights and enhancing the ambience. Food was exceptional
Thank you for a fabulous short stay in Burford. We felt very welcomed when arriving and our room had a great position though the weather precluded us from really enjoying it. Our evening meal was really good and I thought reasonably priced. Breakfast choices were amazing. Overall - well done to the team
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All your staff were helpful and enthusiastic, and the Maitre D' was particularly charming. All the meals were excellent, particularly your rib eye steak and venison.
All excellent, however, your cream tea scones were very stale!!!
Dining at the Bay Tree Restaurant was just a joy.
Service was appalling the head waiter let the whole experience down, food was excellent however. Would not visit again, the head waiter I think he said his name was Pav or something like that , he spent his time saying how bored he was and couldn’t wait til the weddings bookings started ! We ordered wine which didn’t arrive until after our starters arrived and we had to ask for it, we had to ask for plates to eat our cheeseboard with and we refused to pay service charge, the head waiter lets the Bay Tree down badly
Excellent service in the dining room. Just the right amount of attention. Thank you.
Service was good but slow
The Bay Tree will always be a special place for us as this is where we got married. Every time we have stayed the staff are always very friendly and very helpful. The food is always very good too. I would definitely recommended
Hotel did not seem as good as on 2 previous visits, also room deal much more expensive than I recall. Dinner was good but in a virtually empty restaurant. Staff at breakfast and reception very good, not so good at evening restaurant and bar. Breakfast cold table a bit sparse, no croissants etc
Festive Lunch for 9 had been planned in detail well in advance and confirmed to hotel. On arrival, the assured, welcoming log fire was almost out and there was a long wait for coffee to arrive. Lunch name places and guests pre-booked orders (emailed 10 days before) could not be found. Gave restaurant a copy of the pre-booked orders but that too went astray. Great atmosphere, good food; just a pity bout their lack of attention to detail, after so much planning and 'on time' required information about our visit and itinerary. Staff very pleasant and endeavoured to be helpful but seemed to lack training.
We had a wonderful breakfast in the Bay Tree Restaurant, service was very good. Plenty to choice from. However we did not Dine in the Restaurant as it was very expensive and the Bar menu had more choice plus the Christmas Faye Menu was in the bar only which was very disappointing.
A very comfortable and charming hotel. Log fires, cosy nooks, spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. Very good Cotswold base for exploration!
A very good "ladies who lunch" in the cosy bar area. We enjoyed the food (the fish trio) and the wine as well as the coffee which followed. We will return!
Good except for stained sheets on bed first night. Some food not warm enough. Otherwise an excellent stay.
This ended up being a horrible experience. Service was terrible and slow. We arrived at 1pm and it was a full 30 minutes later before we were served with our drinks after we had chased them. One glass of white wine was warm and it needed ice to be palatable. The food was actually quite good when it eventually arrived but one of our party found her main course cold. Other diners were exasperated by the slowness of the service. By the time we got to desert we all just wanted to leave. The waiter changed during the meal for someone who couldn't actually hear what we were saying. The dining room is large, cold and with piped music. There is no warmth or relaxation to be had here. Reading the description on this page - the wine list is limited and expensive. The staff lacked experienced and were friendly but frankly we were all in the same doomed boat. They didn't charge for one glass of wine and we couldn't;t in all honesty justify service for this shambles. The bill for 3 x 2 courses and 2 glasses of wine was over £80. Insult to injury. Avoid as I shall in future.
Lovely atmosphere, great room and food and service excellent.
A nice setting in a typical Cotswold building. Very nice for a special occasion
We were so impressed with the service on Sunday, you were super busy but served everyone really quickly and politely. The afternoon tea was amazing and brilliant value for money.
Excellent attentive service, quality of food well cooked and presented.
We were quite disappointed with the overall standard of the dinner and breakfast at the restaurant compared to our previous visit a few years ago. The starter ( crab )was very bland and unimaginative . The main course (lamb) was reasonable . I had the haddock for breakfast . It was undercooked and a very small portion
