When you visit our Cotswolds restaurant, we want you to relax while we inspire your taste buds with exciting dishes from our seasonal menus that have been especially designed to satisfy your culinary cravings. We celebrate the fantastic array of local ingredients available on our doorstep and have used chef’s creative innovation and skillful technique to deliver their flavours in all their glory. This is British food at its finest in an atmosphere that is both welcoming and homely. Admire the beautiful views of our walled garden during the day and immerse in the intimate ambiance of evening dining with the flickering candlelight that helps to set the mood.
Our friendly team of experienced staff are always ready to make a recommendation or two. They will also pair your dishes with wines from the fabulous collection of bottles housed in our impressive wine wall that takes centre stage in the room for all wine lovers to admire.
Service was good but slow
The Bay Tree will always be a special place for us as this is where we got married. Every time we have stayed the staff are always very friendly and very helpful. The food is always very good too. I would definitely recommended
Hotel did not seem as good as on 2 previous visits, also room deal much more expensive than I recall. Dinner was good but in a virtually empty restaurant. Staff at breakfast and reception very good, not so good at evening restaurant and bar. Breakfast cold table a bit sparse, no croissants etc
Festive Lunch for 9 had been planned in detail well in advance and confirmed to hotel. On arrival, the assured, welcoming log fire was almost out and there was a long wait for coffee to arrive. Lunch name places and guests pre-booked orders (emailed 10 days before) could not be found. Gave restaurant a copy of the pre-booked orders but that too went astray. Great atmosphere, good food; just a pity bout their lack of attention to detail, after so much planning and 'on time' required information about our visit and itinerary. Staff very pleasant and endeavoured to be helpful but seemed to lack training.
We had a wonderful breakfast in the Bay Tree Restaurant, service was very good. Plenty to choice from. However we did not Dine in the Restaurant as it was very expensive and the Bar menu had more choice plus the Christmas Faye Menu was in the bar only which was very disappointing.
A very comfortable and charming hotel. Log fires, cosy nooks, spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. Very good Cotswold base for exploration!
A very good "ladies who lunch" in the cosy bar area. We enjoyed the food (the fish trio) and the wine as well as the coffee which followed. We will return!
Good except for stained sheets on bed first night. Some food not warm enough. Otherwise an excellent stay.
This ended up being a horrible experience. Service was terrible and slow. We arrived at 1pm and it was a full 30 minutes later before we were served with our drinks after we had chased them. One glass of white wine was warm and it needed ice to be palatable. The food was actually quite good when it eventually arrived but one of our party found her main course cold. Other diners were exasperated by the slowness of the service. By the time we got to desert we all just wanted to leave. The waiter changed during the meal for someone who couldn't actually hear what we were saying. The dining room is large, cold and with piped music. There is no warmth or relaxation to be had here. Reading the description on this page - the wine list is limited and expensive. The staff lacked experienced and were friendly but frankly we were all in the same doomed boat. They didn't charge for one glass of wine and we couldn't;t in all honesty justify service for this shambles. The bill for 3 x 2 courses and 2 glasses of wine was over £80. Insult to injury. Avoid as I shall in future.
Lovely atmosphere, great room and food and service excellent.
A nice setting in a typical Cotswold building. Very nice for a special occasion
We were so impressed with the service on Sunday, you were super busy but served everyone really quickly and politely. The afternoon tea was amazing and brilliant value for money.
Excellent attentive service, quality of food well cooked and presented.
We were quite disappointed with the overall standard of the dinner and breakfast at the restaurant compared to our previous visit a few years ago. The starter ( crab )was very bland and unimaginative . The main course (lamb) was reasonable . I had the haddock for breakfast . It was undercooked and a very small portion
I just felt the portion size was on the small size so that's why my value for money has been marked down. It was all very tasty and well presented but 1 carrot cut in half with a little more vegetables I don't think would qualify as a great deal towards my 5 a day. Some extra vegetables served separately for the table would of resolved this. Having said this I would return as everything else was perfect.
A return trip for our wedding anniversary - having got married here 11 yrs ago - fantastic service and lovely to come back!
Excellent all round. Definitely would recommend and return.
Lovely meal, food very well presented & prepared. Nice range of choices on the menu. Excellent Service from Julianna & her colleague, we felt well looked after.
Excellent waiters in particular the lady called Alex. Smiling, very active and cheerful but extremely efficient
Very enjoyable, great food excellent service in particular from the waiter and other staff
Our fifth return to this Cotswolds gem and it retains the charm and ambiance of our previous visits. The food is of consistent high quality and the service first class. The waiting staff are of the same high calibre with a particular mention to Paf who was a credit to the Baytree. Thanks to the whole supporting staff who have contributed to our wish to return.
Out stay was excellent. Very helpful staff totally made us at home
The staff very very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the food that was being served. The atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely with the background music being played at just the right volume, therefore, it was not intrusive and holding conversations were not interrupted by it.
afternoon tea in the garden was a real treat! Staff and location were excellent. Thank you!
