The food was brilliant but the service needs some work, wasnt organised at all.
Lovely pleasant late lunch will be back , Many thanks
Really lovely food & the best service we have had for a long time. The young gentleman on duty was friendly, attentive & chatty We really felt welcome & it was my daughters birthday treat so he made it even more special. The food was lovely ! Sausage rolls were the best I have ever had!
Staff very friendly and helpful Lovely and spotless food delightful Defo coming back
Really enjoyed it
We were disappointed to have booked a table of 12 to find out party separated over two tables and when we asked if we could be seated together we were told no. We weren't advised at the time of booking that the party would be split. Food and drink was very nice.
We came for my cousin birthday and she was over the moon with everything, we will definitely be back in the future such a Beautiful place
Will definitely be back. Well worth the trip from durham.
You made a great effort to accommodate my wife's gluten and dairy free needs,,,thank you
I had a really lovely afternoon tea with my Mum that I took her to for her birthday. Staff were friendly but I think we should have been asked sooner if everything was ok. One downside is that my glass for water was dirty and had a lipstick mark still on it - luckily I didn't want any water whilst eating. Overall, the food was lovely and staff were good and I would definitely recommend to a friend and would go back.
Another lovely meal with family courtesy of Barton's Yard
Food choice and service was fantastic. Staff very amenable and polite. Food was amazing as usual. Can’t wait to try the standard menu. Thank you for providing a couple of hours of me time
As previously discussed with the waiter, the macarons were the only disappointment in the afternoon tea. The filling tasted like pure butter and was absolutely foul. The waiter did speak to the chef to see what the filling was, apparently butter icing, I think he forgot the icing sugar!
Service was great. It was my friend's birthday and she was made to feel really special. Good quality food too.
Service was terribly slow.
Booked a table at Penny Blue but we were moved to Bartons Yard due to renovation work. Someone called to let me know first and when we arrived everything was great. Food was wonderful, staff were great, service was excellent. Could not fault it for a moment and I'll come back again. Loved the creative vegan options - keep it up!!!
I telephoned on Tuesday 26th February to book afternoon tea for Saturday 2nd March @ 4.15. My husband was given an afternoon tea voucher for his 50th birthday from our son. The booking experience wasn’t great, I was told when I phoned that the receptionist had people waiting at the desk so could she phone me back. (I was obviously not as important as the awaiting public). When I eventually spoke to the member of staff I was told to wait as she was saving a document (didn’t need to know this, just wanted to book a table). We arrived and was seated in the Barton’s yard right beside the outside door which was constantly being opened and closed and was absolutely freezing. We decided to upgrade our voucher to prosecco afternoon tea as it was such a special occasion. We had finished our proseco before the afternoon tea appeared (roughly 20 minutes). We waited another 15 minutes or so and still no tea or coffee being offered so we started to eat our sandwiches and sausage rolls. A further 15 minutes later and my husband had to stand and wait at the bar to ask for out hot drinks (his special birthday treat !!!!). Extremely unhappy at this point. When the waitress came to clear our plates etc and asked how we found it, we told her all of the above and her response was the Barman is on his own (yet again not our problem). We wanted to pay using our voucher and waited and waited and eventually made our way to the main restaurant. Spoke to a lady who took our voucher and said we had £2 left and my husband told her we wouldn’t be returning and explained the whole story. She apologised and said she would email my husband last night and surprise surprise no email !!!!. So to summarise, something that should have been a lovely treat for my husbands 50th birthday was awful and we left feeling very underwhelmed.
We arrived, having made the booking by phone & had e-mail confirmation, but they were not expecting us. However, the service was fantastic, they gave us complimentary drinks while they prepared our food. It was delicious. Bartons yard had the 6 nations on the TV which pleased my daughter no end. Thank you so much 5*
