About Bar Soba Edinburgh
Launched in 1999 on Mitchell Lane in Glasgow, Bar Soba fast became a staple of the city’s burgeoning bar and restaurant scene. Serving quality Pan-Asian Street food with dishes from across the Orient, Soba has endeavoured to provide its diners with an unforgettable culinary experience.
We also lead the way with the original and best cocktail masterclasses as our highly-skilled mixologists take our guests through the tricks and tools of the trade: free pouring, flair moves & pours, astounding spirits savvy and other secrets of the mixology profession.
We took our patented mix of exhilarating cocktails and mouthwatering cuisine to the West End of Glasgow in January 2012, opening on Byres Road, before growing the Soba brand further and landing on Hanover Street in Edinburgh in December 2012.
The table we were given was incredibly wobbly, which is annoying when you have drinks on the table and one person leans on the table and the drinks shake. I’m vegan and asked for the two vegan options on the menu and was given a dip which quite clearly wasn’t vegan and so had to ask for them to check whether they’d made a mistake and they had (which was quickly rectified but really shouldn’t have been made in the first place). Also the menus we were given were sticky which was really not nice. I’ve been to the Bar Soba on Mitchell Street in Glasgow and that one is so much better than the Edinburgh one. It’s a shame because the food is good just all the above let it down.
Food was so flavoursome. Good coctail selection but would be good to see some more beers and craft beers
Great food and nice atmosphere. Very attentive staff 👍
Great fresh food, well presented and cocktails fab, always love Soba and Edinburgh one did not disappoint, :)
My friend and I did the “Boozy Brunch” offer and we both thought it was excellent and well worth the money considering the quality of food and types of alcohol included. Only thing that let it down slightly was just how busy it was, we seemed to be in a minority for people who had made a booking! While this was fine and our table was ready for us, service at times was a little delayed, while this was no great issue for us, it was quite difficult to get staff attention as there only appeared to be two staff and one bar tender. Would still thoroughly recommend Bar Soba to anyone looking for brunch in Edinburgh but would suggest the advertised time of 90 mins to have the deal, isn’t always enough simply due to high demand in the bar! Which in my opinion does speak volumes about the quality of what is being served.
The boozy brunch was advertised on the menu and the website as being 25pp however on our bill it stated it was 30pp. When we asked the manager they said it was because of the holiday period. Whilst I understand with the increase in price this should have been advertised.
Food was delish and service was great. Please stop using plastic straws. I didn't ask for one and it was too late by the time my drink came. I don't know if you use plastic drink stirrers too but please review your use of single use plastics like this when there are alternatives. Thank you
The service was slow and the staff were completely uninterested. No one asked us at any point if we were enjoying our food or needed anything. The dirty plates from our starter were left sitting in front of us for around 40 mins and we had to wait ages for the bill. Food was average and overpriced.
Delicious food and attentive staff
Had a really nice meal, then went upstairs for cocktails, top notch
First time at Bar Soba, absolutely scrumptious food!
Great deal. Good atmosphere, friendly staff. Brunch was fab, really good value.
So disappointed with the food - had been so excited by such a delicious and vibrant menu and instead had a limp, soggy noodle dish with pretty terrible tofu. My friend's satay and crab looked much nicer but I she wasn't very impressed with how it actually tasted either. Service was good with really lovely bar staff, but I probably won't be back
Went for the boozy brunch and it was great value for money. The cocktails were great and the food was good although our mains took a really long time to come after the sharing platter!
Tentative, friendly, welcoming place. Great deal on the Boozy lunch!
Amazing food and drinks. Food has a special twist on some classics and is super tasty. Cocktails are so fun!
Tried the boozy brunch, excellent value for money. Food delicious but cocktails just okay. Great value still. Service slow but was very busy. Would definitely return.
The server was great (think his name was Pablo). He was friendly and chatty. Food was really good, will definitely be back.
Fantastic food. Definitely be back!
Starter was very good, main courses not so much. Mains also took long to come out.
Fantastic food will come back next time in Edinburgh
Brilliant. First time for the boozy brunch but will definitely be back!
We were disappointed with one of the starters - the soft shell crab. It was very very small and quite tasteless. The Marie Rose sauce was the most memorable part of the dish. Our other dishes were lovely and the wine was very good too.
