About Barony Restaurant at Carlton Hotel - Carvery
Booked table for 4 people. Three adults and one child which included an 85 year old, an 95 year old and a 7 year old. Was allocated table against the wall. Ordered drinks and meals. Got two main courses and then waited 55 for other two main courses. Did ask several times about meals as we were getting anxious. Food was good but didn’t get to eat together on New Year’s Day. Then to add to everything had to wait 40 minutes When I eventually had to approach member of staff for sweet menu. After placing sweet order we waited twenty five minutes before sweet arrived. Was advised when I requested to speak to a manager that our table was caught up in service to two tables of 12 and a table of 32. Felt as if we were totally forgotten about. Obviously a table if 4 wasn’t as important as a larger table. Manager asked if he could do anything? Paid bill and left. Felt fobbed off with excuses.
Booking was for 3pm finally seated at 3.55 pm whilst table still getting set. Starters came out in dribs and drabs and had to ask for final two. Main course ok, no atmosphere in room only people complaining, not enough staff for the number of patrons in restaurant.
We had to wait for dessert spoon while our dessert was at the table. But overall it was good.
Great food and great service from staff.
Most enjoyable experience all round.
Was highly disappointed with the service here. Went for Carvery on 10/11/19 which the majority order carvery however one person ordered off of the logan’s menu which we were told would only take 4-5 minutes to be cooked and brought to the table. After everyone went up for the carvery, we had nearly finished our dinner before the one plate from the logan’s restaurant got sent out and even at that we had to ask where it was and no one came over to check on us. Very poor service and disappointed at the situation, unlikely to be back!
Thoroughly enjoyed carvery
Very good as usual my husband's favourite carvery but disappointed that it only at the weekend now
All round enjoyable and good value for money
Staff were wonderful. Carvery very busy so staff worked hard that day. I had arraged a party of 30 and staff very attentive and efficient as it is difficult keeping up with family who move about talking to each other. Thank you for good afternoon.
Booked online, sample menu different to what was available for vegetarian, server didn’t seem to know what to do, had carvery without meat for same price, think maybe he could have asked someone senior for a different solution. The chef was brilliant, great interaction very helpful, busy afternoon, but all ran smoothly
Staff were very good. The carvery was tasty with plenty of options
Second time being at carvery and we love the food. Busier this time around and feel table staff struggled with this although we were still looked after well enough. Only criticism of menu is a nownal lentil soup as an option, as this wasn’t available we chose just 2 courses. Chocolate fudge cake is amazing.
The food was very well cooked in particular the meat choices. Maybe the vegetable choice could be improved to include broccoli and plain cauliflower rather than cauliflower cheese which doesn't really add to a roast dinner.
We come to the carvery regularly for family get togethers, always delicious food and good atmosphere at a great price
Excellent meal at the carvery. Quick service and great menu choice at a fantastic price. Will definitely return
We visit regularly to get together as a family, such good value for money and always a good atmosphere.
Excellent service from young staff and the guy doing the carving was BRILLIANT.
Was a very pleasant experience from booking to leaving well done Carvery staff
Restaurant far too warm. Very unclean around carvery area. Frozen Yorkshire pudding I expected Home made like the Toby restaurants. Not all that impressed!!
Dear Mrs Clelland, Thank you for taking the time to review our carvery. We really appreciate all feedback as without it we cannot improve our service or products. I will speak to our team about making sure they are continually checking the carvery area as this should not be dirty. The air conditioning was on all day on Sunday however I completely agree that it was too warm, sadly there is really nothing else we can do about this at the moment but I will pass on your comments to our owners. I will pass your comments about the Yorkshire puddings on to our chef and hopefully we can sort this out for you. Thank you once again for taking the time to let me know about your experience. Kind Regards
Easter Sunday carvery was nice, was busy and I think the staff did as good as they could. Although the stuffing balls would have been better cooked.
Good food, reasonable price, great service
I felt the price of drinks in was a bit on high side compared to other hotels I have visited
We had the carvery, excellent service, food and very good value for money.
First visit to carvery and excellent all round
