About Barnsdale Lodge Restaurant
Barnsdale Lodge is close to Rutland Water and just a five-minute drive from the market town of Oakham.
Our warm and professional service team welcome you to our relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The restaurant is the heart of the hotel and Executive Chef David Bukowicki serves delicious dishes, reflecting seasonality and local producers.
Our wide selection of afternoon teas are served between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the Conservatory or in the Courtyard (when the weather allows).
Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in the Conservatory and Main Dining Room.
Our Pheasant Room, Cottage Room, Rigate Suite and Fort Henry Suite are available for private dining.
Excellent dinner, beautifully presented and wonderful flavours. Lack of ambience was probably because there were very few people in the restaurant - time of year. Enjoyable meal and attentive staff, thank you.
A small group of us celebrated a 61st birthday in the conservatory at Barnsdale Lodge. We had an excellent meal off the specials menu, which arrived promptly and was delicious. The staff were friendly, professional and very accommodating when producing the ‘surprise’ birthday cake (one of the group had provided) at the end of the meal and even helped us sing to the Birthday Boy!
We were both very pleased and happy with our first dining experience with you and will be revisiting some time in the future. Only one thing to say and that is your online menu is still showing the festive food, maybe it could be updated. Regards Mary Jone
I would emphasise value for money as key.
Pillows without covers, dated interiors, and poor food.
Nice meal, staff very welcoming and attentive.
Lovely afternoon in gorgeous surroundings
Marvellous meal and delightful staff. Have been on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Keep up the excellent standards.
On arrival, told conservatory restaurant shut. Offered a table in an empty austere room, looking like a works canteen, no other diners in there. told dining room full have to wait for an hour for a table. My Wife and I left. You should have contacted me to apologise for your booking incompetence. Car park full of mud had to clean car carpets and shoes.
We had a lovely afternoon tea, I highly recommend it! The service was great!
A booking that due to illness became tricky was handled with consideration and professionalism. The food was excellent as always and the staff were great. Thanks to D who looked after us in the dining room
The whole experience was very disappointing. We were taken straight to our table in the old dining room rather than a lounge where we could have perused the menu and had a pre-dinner drink. We were the only diners in that room so felt rather isolated. A table in the garden room would have been much nicer. The starters were fine and we both had a steak for main course. My wife's sirloin was okay but my rib-eye was largely inedible and I gave up in the end. Nobody came to check on us during the meal and eventually I managed to call a passing waitress and explained the situation. She did offer to replace it but it was a bit late by then. I also explained the problem to the restaurant manager who said he would talk to the chef; I didn't hear anything else. I was compensated to the extent that the 3 glasses of wine and coffee were taken off the bill but that didn't really make up for a spoiled 70th birthday.
Excellent and considerate service throughout by all members of staff. Particularly important since one of our company was very disabled. Well Done!
A fabulous evening was spent enjoying amazing food in a cosy dining room with an inviting open fire. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful choice of food from the menu with various price ranges to choose from. The table waiting staff and reception staff were exemplary and greeted and served us with a smile. We were very well looked after by Thomas too. Thank you Barnsdale Lodge we will definitely be returning and recommending you to our friends and neighbours,
Lovely setting, unfortunately we were the only ones having afternoon tea. Scones were one of the best we've ever had and the lemon curd was delicious. The tea could have been served in a china teapot rather than a canteen type stainless steel one and loose leaf tea would have been expected for the price.
We were taken to our table and then left. The wine was already on the table but no- one asked us to try it or offered to pour it. Some of the table items were missing I.e. a side plate and two knives. We had to ask for tap water twice before receiving it. This all gave a poor first impression. However, we enjoyed the meal and took coffee in the lounge.
A totally wonderful afternoon spent in the conservatory to celebrate an 80th birthday. The food, service and setting was perfect and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a special place to spend with family and friends.
Good food and service but a little out of the way in the rather dark rear dining room rather than in the bright conservatory, not too bad for a four but could be grim for a couple with only one other occupied table.
Extremely disappointed with our 70th birthday celebration lunch. Chips were raw, coffees luke warm and staff unable to make proper floater coffees. The tea order never arrived. We had to share the lounge with a wedding party so had to leave early because of the squash and noise!
From arriving on the night before our sons wedding to the actual wedding breakfast everything was excellent. Food was cooked to perfection, and everything ran smoothly and professional.
Service and reception by staff was excellent. Quality of food was very poor and therefore overpriced. Would not recommend.
Enjoyed every minute of our stay
Fabulous staff, so friendly and helpful. A great menu with gorgeous food and a good wine list. Couldn’t ask for more.
A lovely situation in the conservatory, fairly good price for afternoon tea, sandwiches and scones were lovely, cakes were not wonderful, they felt a bit shop bought.
A very enjoyable evening enhanced by the attention of the staff and the quality of the food.
