Lovely afternoon tea, in great setting
Had a fantastic birthday meal with my husband. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Food was beautifully presented and was fantastic. Can not wait to return for another special occasion.
very good pie!
Our second visit to Barnsdale Lodge was just as enjoyable as the first. The relaxed conservatory atmosphere, friendly, attentive staff and excellent food mean we'll certainly return for more in the future. Well worth a visit, especially in winter when the log fires are glowing and there's the extra sparkle of festive cheer.
Wonderful decoration and style. Perfectly presented. Relaxing atmosphere. It would have been even better if: - we had been offered a teapot refill - we could select from different teas e.g earl grey - we had been informed of the changes to the afternoon tea menu for the cakes and mouse - we had been offered a choice of tables - there was the option to have a savoury afternoon tea e.g finger sandwiches, pork pie, sausage roll, cheese for non-sweet toothed people like us, not many places offer this currently.
What a lovely venue, beautiful scenery, great food and fantastic service. We will most definitely be back. Thank you.
The food was excellent. The best risotto I have ever tasted and I loved the banana cheesecake.
Firstly it was cold. We felt that the service was not great. Not one member of staff asked if we needed anything or checked we were ok. The cakes were very dry and the sandwich fillings were very slim to the point of more butter than filling. All I all quite disappointing. We have been several times before for afternoon tea and this was not great compared to other visits
Prompt service good food a pleasant afternoons experience for tea in a very nice setting
Spent a lovely afternoon having champagne afternoon tea with our daughter and son-in-law to celebrate my daughter's 40th birthday.
We were a party of ten, some from abroad celebrating our 30th anniversary, all were very happy with the food which was well presented. As it was very busy we were not unhappy at the length of service as it gave us time to chat. Would thoroughly recommend Barnsdale Lodge lovely atmosphere for our celebration and also got to see the bride from the wedding party too.
Excellent as always
A lovely afternoon, and you did exactly as we requested on our online booking. Thank you!
Spent an very enjoyable two days here with my wife to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. The standard of service is excellent, with a special mention for Tomasz who looked after us immaculately. Portions could be slightly larger, but that's our only quibble. Will return soon
We met at Barnsdale from Chester, Glenfield, Leeds and Norwich and were all impressed by the quality of our experience. We hope to meet again at this venue.
The service was appalling. We will never come back.
Fabulous evening for my mum's 70th Birthday celebrations with all the family. Excellent food and service. Enjoyed by all.
Nice room and another good stay at Barnsdale Lodge but food quality misses 4 stars - would say it is of good standard but no more. Cooked breakfast good but why serve on cold plates? Price merits better quality. Drinks are expensive but probably no different to other similar establishments. Overall good but room for improvement.
Ate in the room off the bar The carpets are absolutely filthy and a very deep clean on them needed
We were in the smaller dining room which was very cold and our table was in a miserable draft. My partner visited the Ladies toilet and was far from impressed and considered it is due for a complete re fit. Overall not overly impressed with our visit on this occasion.
A delightful Sunday lunch with excellent food and service from courteous and efficient staff, contributed to a wonderful reunion with my little sister, missing from my life for 45 years. Thank you.
We visited Barnsdale Lodge for afternoon tea recently and were very disappointed. The waiter did not go through the menu with us and initially brought us cream and scones not full afternoon tea! The menu states ‘homemade cakes’ and what we were served were definitely not homemade! It appeared there was a wedding there the next day and if it had been my family wedding i would of been tempted to pull up all the weeds and dead head the roses before my guests arrived!! Lovely venue and we have had lovely food when we have visited previously but very disappointed in the afternoon tea and felt the cost was high for what it was.
This is the third time I have visited for afternoon tea and as always a very enjoyable experience.
Food was great, very noisy in conservatory, tables very close together so difficult to get in & out of. 10% service charge added which we didn't see any mention of! Had to inform waiting staff that we were ready to order.
