Afternoon tea at Barnett Hill Hotel is extremely popular, so we recommend booking in advance.

We had a lovely afternoon celebrating a 60th birthday - just us girls. Very relaxed atmosphere in a small room opposite the main rooms. Lovely calming decor. They were very busy so it took a while to get our food but it really didn't matter too much & other than that it was absolutely lovely. Food, as always, was delicious. Far too much for us to eat but we took a box home.
Lovely place and delightful.. Staff very attentive
The only complaint is that the scones were a bit hard and also smaller than any other hotel or garden centre offering. Our tea ran out and we were not offered more, apart from which, tea slso goes cold, so most everyone would benefit from fresh tea half way through. We may not finish the second pot, BUT without it, the experience of the Afternoon Tea starts to wane, as you are then left with just eating. Service was very good, from everyone, thank you.
We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea, the scones were delicious and we were given excellent service from our waitress, who was very pleasant and helpful. The only thing that I can suggest that would have improved the meal for me, would have been the option of another sandwich or savoury, but that is just down to my own personal preference. Thank you for a delightful experience.
I thought the afternoon tea was really poor. Bread and brioche buns were a bit dry and stale, cakes were tiny and not very exciting. Worst afternoon tea I have ever had and it was expensive for what it was. Wouldn't come again.
Overall it was good but I had specifically emailed you as it was my wife's 50th birthday, and in fact I believe Alex , I think was the name called me to arrange a balloon that I was to pay for to be provided. It was not there !!! Disappointing. My son had specific food choice namely plain ham on white bread not difficult but there was no mention on our booking slot????, none provided, I had to ask and they came on brown, had to ask again, they were very nice when provided Asked 3 times for some water , just water but eventually it came. Sandwiches lovely , scones lovely but sorry we could not eat brownies, they seemed defrosted and so dry could not eat them had to drink tea to swallow , the carrot cake cream cheese was so overpowering they were inedible. But we still had a nice time as the manager was very pleasant. I did not say anything as it was such a special experience for us as a family , we would come back but maybe you need to review the quality of your cake selection. Thanks kevin
Lovely venue, beautiful surroundings and the food was delightful
Will definitely be visiting again, lovely food and beautiful setting
Very welcoming staff, lovely setting
Tried to confirm additional person several times on previously day with no response/call back. Service was good on the day and managed to accommodate additional head however the slightly mixed up combination of creams with the scones was disappointing - cream cheese was brought out for the majority, clotted cream only served on one plater
I would say the best cream tea we've ever had, really delicious, wonderful service, lovely hotel and grounds.
I got my voucher from groupon which meant the value for money was brillaint, however I do not think I would spend over £40 on afternoon tea. Having said this the food is lovely, the service is brillaint and the hotel is beautiful! Lovely place to be for afternoon tea.
The Barnett Hill Hotel is stunning, tucked away yet it is truly beautiful in the rural surroundings and grounds. The hotel was very clean, quiet and welcoming. All staff were absolutely lovely, so polite and kind. The afternoon tea was delicious and the portion was so large that we took some of the cakes home in a box. I would definitely go again.
The experience was good and everything was lovely. However, although the food was lovely, the cakes were tasty but were very bland in appearance. There was no colour to the display. I have had countless cream teas and this was the one that lack appeal in appearance. We will return in the summer to get a better view of the surroundings and see if you have taken note of my comments
We really enjoyed the afternoon. Next time I will come early enough to look round the gardens.
We enjoyed our tea, but the room is very severe! The grey furnishings are very masculine as is the panelling. Was a bit put off by being asked if we had vouchers (twice) before ordering. We instantly felt that we had missed out on something and were paying more than other people which isn't a good start! Maybe it should just be mentioned at the end of the meal. We weren't routinely offered refills on the tea which would have been nice and in fact a couple of my guests would probably have ordered proseccos had they encouraged to. However we did enjoy the afternoon just felt with a few small changes it could have been improved.
Good value afternoon tea, service could have been more attentive.
Lovely friendly staff that couldn’t be more accommodating and helpful ! We went for my daughters birthday and they certainly made it special even going to the trouble of writing happy birthday on a slate plate. Would highly recommend.
