About Barnett Hill - Afternoon Tea
Indulge in the ultimate quintessentially British experience. With beautifully landscaped gardens and the Surrey Hills beyond, make the most of your indulgence with al fresco dining on our estate in the Summer months. Afternoon tea at Barnett Hill Hotel is extremely popular, so we recommend booking in advance.
We have a gluten free afternoon tea menu available. Please get in touch with our team for more information and let us know at the time of booking if you have any further dietary requirements.
Lovely setting and scones, sandwiches and cakes all great. Would have been nice to have wider selection of teas - green, white, jasmine etc to make extra special.
I assume that the hotel was short of staff on the day we were there. One female waiter was amazing but a gentleman in a suit constantly forgot everything we requested eg butter, more tea, the bill. We ended up having to ask again for things and went to the bar in the end to pay the bill. Such a beautiful setting and a lovely day to be sat outside. Obviously great value on the eat out to help out deal but would suggest for future that the sandwiches were not made in advance as the bread quickly begins to go hard. Would recommend the amazing venue but not the best afternoon tea.
Lovely afternoon in a gorgeous setting.
Lovely afternoon tea in a beautiful setting. The staff are really friendly. We were able to sit outside and eat so that our dog could stay with us and it was a really relaxing experience.
Lovely afternoon celebrating my daughters birthday. Very nice selection of cakes and sandwiches. Extra touch with a happy 23rd birthday piped in chocolate around the selection of cakes. Would definitely recommend. Lovely setting outside
Lovely Afternoon Tea, great choice of sandwiches and cakes.
Wonderful afternoon tea, setting and service were spectacular. We have just one slight criticism - As ‘foodies‘, and keen cooks we long for exciting and excellent flavours. A few of the items on the menu were quite bland. The egg roll was superb. The pastry on the pea and mint tartlet was soft and heavy and it needed a stronger punch of pea and mint flavour. The sandwiches were all great. The fresh fruit tart could have done with an extra hit of almond as the fresh fruit overpowered the Almond in the frangipani base. The macarons also needed a much bigger punch of almond. They were quite bland. The lemon drizzle was very heavy / tight but was a lovely flavour. The lemon in the Crakalan choux Bun was beautiful. A lovely herbal lemon flavour. But this kind of impact of flavour was needed across the board really to make it all come alive. The fruit scones were perfect. This is just my opinion. But I think it could have been elevated to a whole new level with bigger flavours.
Delicious afternoon tea served by friendly and welcoming staff at this lovely hotel with beautiful grounds to stroll round afterwards!
Beautifully prepared and presented afternoon tea in a typical English country garden.
We loved the beautiful setting and grounds and selected the picnic option as were meeting people outside our house so thought sitting on blankets would help social distancing. The food was ok but we had to ask for more jam and cream as we only got one small pot each. As in we got the jam and my friend got the cream to share between 4. I did like the fact that the scones were served warm as they should be. We sadly did not receive a friendly welcome and were just sent off to the gardens and told someone would be with us. We didn’t get a selection of tea or coffee just the usual breakfast tea and coffee. When asked if you did an iced coffee the man said no and only relented when we asked if they had ice and could just pour the coffee over ice. Some staff had PPE and some did not so mixed bag. There was lots of hand gel available and the toilets were nice and clean.
We had a lovely afternoon tea.
Beautiful setting for an Afternoon Tea. Lovely food with friendly service.
The front terrace was amazing and actually better than the back garden where the Silent Pool tea is supposed to be served. It was a Friday afternoon so busy enough to be fun but not enough to be a concern. It was annoying that the prepaid on line reservation made at 8 am that day for 3.30pm booking was not on the hotel reservation book:( The gin cocktails were very good but we had to ask for tea meanwhile it is listed in the Silent Pool afternoon tea menu. Tea was nicely served to us upon request. The sandwiches were the downside of the tea set: a bit basic and dry and no refill offered. My benchmark for sandwiches is Pennyhillpark or The Savoy;) The weather turned out to be perfect and sulky so we stayed until later in the evening and the staff was always super nice and helpful. We even got a guided tour of the reception rooms on both floors. The front lawn is completely dry and yellow so not picture perfect and it is eco correct not to water it but in that case I would make it a bit more interesting than putting a couple of turquoise loungers... last but no least: it looks like the toilets next to the Left side meeting room we were sent to were shared men and women and that to me is a definitive no no especially with a meeting room full of men next to them... it was good though that there was hand sanitizer available everywhere and staff was wearing a visor while serving. Definitely a great experience and lovely peaceful atmosphere so close to Guildford!
This was such an amazing experience post lockdown. We had tea out in the garden. Well distanced and staff in PPE. The tea itself was lovely and fresh and of particular note, were the delicious scones. Definitely our favourite place to go for tea although we live 40mins away. If you love gardens, you must check out their extensive gardens which have a good variety of exotic plants
Had a lovely afternoon tea for our 13th wedding anniversary, my husband had the silent pool and I had the normal one. It was so yummy and the service was spot on.
The staff were excellent; very professional and great service. The afternoon tea was delicious and the accompanying Silent Pool drinks. Highly recommend.
Warm welcome from your staff who were all doing their best with pope on such a hot day! Enjoyed a lovely couple of hours sitting outside on the terrace. Delicious finger sandwiches, scones and cakes And then had a little wander round the gardens! Would highly recommend and am sure we will be back soon!
Although we had a lovely afternoon - beautiful setting and great atmosphere -, we do feel the quality of the food could have been better for the price - sadly it was nothing special. If the cost included a complimentary glass of prosecco I would also have felt it to be better value for money.
The blonde hair male server wiped his nose, under his face shield, whilst wearing white gloves thus contaminating them! It would be better for servers not to wear gloves if they are going to touch their face, which is inevitable, and frequently wash their hands instead. I work in the healthcare industry and am highly trained in cross infection controls and maintaining levels of hygiene.
Went for the silent pool afternoon tea and was left a little disappointed. The sandwiches were not great quality and white bread ones!! Very cheap and stail! Also you had saucers set out for plates! Saucer are for cups. Also I was the driving so did not have the gin I took my partner for an anniversary present. So I paid £50 for a cup of tea and some cheap sandwiches. You should off a cheaper alternative for people who are not drinking.
We had the best of times! Everything from the scenery, atmosphere, food and the last but least the derive was absolutely outstanding! We had two lovely gentlemen looking after us and we couldn’t not compliment them enough. We are definitely planning to come back and also to recommend this place to our families and friends! We had fabulous day at the Barnett Hill Afternoon Tea! Thank you 🙏
We had a lovely afternoon tea we chose the gin cocktail option it was well worth the money. Our server was very friendly and informative. The garden was a beautiful setting especially with the sun shining. The only downside side was the time went too quickly so we'll definitely have to visit again soon.
Fantastic service. Staff dealt fantastically with the difficulties imposed by COVID-19. Thank you!
Staff coped really well with the new guidelines and looked after us well. A little bit more thought needs to be given to the picnic afternoon tea as we had no plates or cutlery and had to ask. It wasn’t a bug issue for us though. Food was really lovely and presented well. Thank you.
Beautiful setting and hotel. Afternoon tea wasn't the best and very small but good price. Would definitely go back again for the atmosphere and beautiful gardens.
