About Bar Esteban
Growing up under the shadow of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Pablo had a passion for cooking from a very young age. After attending the Joan Ramon Benapres culinary school in Sitges he moved to London to broaden his experience.
His first role in London was Chef de Partie at Barrafina, where he rotated quickly through all of the stations from pastry to plancha. After a year or so, it was time for a new challenge, which was found at Moro, in Clerkenwell.
When Moro opened Morito, Pablo was at the helm and focused his attention on tapas, mainly from the Andalucian region of Spain.
Pablo joined bar esteban in February 2013 as Head Chef and we are delighted to have him on board.
“I love fresh seafood especially if you have caught it yourself, my favorites are cuttlefish, clams and crab. We’ll have lots of great seafood on the menu as well as other daily specials, mainly from the regions of Catalunya, Pais Vasco and Andalucia. Cooking is my love, I don’t think I could ever be without it – the only other thing that comes close is FC Barcelona!”
So, whether you’re in the mood for razor clams, slow braised ox-tail, or simply a great tortilla bocadillo, we hope you stop by soon.
Delicious food and wine. Initially sat in a tight corner table by the kitchen but were very accommodating when we asked to move to a nicer table by the window. We always enjoy coming to Bar Esteban.
A great evening, the food was delicious and the staff were very helpful as one of our party had special dietary requirements.
Really lovely evening. Great food, fantastic service and wonderful atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back.
Good food and great atmosphere
Great as always!!
Absolutely gorgeous food, excellent vibe and lovely helpful service.. can’t fault it.. loved it and can’t recommend highly enough!
Alway a good meal at Bar Esteban! Love this place and always have.
Food arrived quick and hot, maybe tables a bit to small to hold the food?? Wine was brilliant and at right temperature. Food was tasty and with that homemade touch. I’m Spanish and have been in a few Tapas places around London, this is probably not the cheapest but definitely the best.
The meal was lovely, but they brought the side salad out after we had eaten the majority of our meal. They were happy to take this off the bill, but when we asked to split the bill they rounded this to an extra 2.88 on top of the 8.12 discretionary charge without our permission. Not really much point taking the salad off really!
Another great dinner at Bar Esteban!
The restaurant smelt very unpleasant, of toilets or bleach and that significant effected our experience. However the toilets themselves were lovely. The service was attentive and friendly though when we said that we didn’t eat meat or shellfish the waiter said coming to tapas restaurant was silly. There was just enough choice for us (non meat / non-shellfish eaters) but none of it felt healthy. Lots of fried / deep fried food. The food was fine but not exciting nor exceptional and for what we got it was pricey - £13 for a very small piece of tuna for example.
Wonderful meal and lovely restaurant.
Thanks to the knowledgeable, friendly and attentive staff who made our visit here so much fun. Great food and wine - a fabulous local restaurant.
A good selection for vegetarians. The aubergine dish was amazing. Thank you.
The retro chairs look great but aren’t comfortable for older folks.
Service and food were great, we enjoyed ourselves through out the whole meal. Gracias!
The food is perfect, it cannot be faulted. The 4 of us had nearly every dish on the menu and all were amazing. We particularly loved the cauliflower tempura. It was busy and it took a while to get served initially but once we placed our order the food just kept on coming. Wonderful night.
Lovely food. I have been may times and hope to go many times more.
Great Tapas, always...
Unfortunately 3 of our orders had run out. The staff were very apologetic and gave a hefty discount to make us for that, but it was very disappointing.
We came for Paella but you said you no longer do it. We were very upset but still enjoyed some lovely food.
This is my favourite place to eat in Crouch End. The food is always amazing, the wine is great, the staff are always really helpful in suggesting wines and things to try and the atmosphere is lively enough but not too loud that you can't have a conversation. I go as much as I can!
A lovely little restaurant; both the food and service were amazing, and it has a casual, friendly and buzzing ambience. Definitely recommend!
Food was lovely as was the wine
