About Bar Esteban
Growing up under the shadow of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Pablo had a passion for cooking from a very young age. After attending the Joan Ramon Benapres culinary school in Sitges he moved to London to broaden his experience.
His first role in London was Chef de Partie at Barrafina, where he rotated quickly through all of the stations from pastry to plancha. After a year or so, it was time for a new challenge, which was found at Moro, in Clerkenwell.
When Moro opened Morito, Pablo was at the helm and focused his attention on tapas, mainly from the Andalucian region of Spain.
Pablo joined bar esteban in February 2013 as Head Chef and we are delighted to have him on board.
“I love fresh seafood especially if you have caught it yourself, my favorites are cuttlefish, clams and crab. We’ll have lots of great seafood on the menu as well as other daily specials, mainly from the regions of Catalunya, Pais Vasco and Andalucia. Cooking is my love, I don’t think I could ever be without it – the only other thing that comes close is FC Barcelona!”
So, whether you’re in the mood for razor clams, slow braised ox-tail, or simply a great tortilla bocadillo, we hope you stop by soon.
Food and service were really nice.
Fantastic food, a bit pricey but still really good food. Brilliant service from a really nice Spanish woman who actually recommended us Escocesa, sister restaurant in Stoke Newington hoping to go there soon!
We visit fairly regularly. The tapas standards are very reliable and there is also always something new, seasonal and delicious on the list.
Really tasty and well cooked food. Crispy chickpeas were excellent as was the courgette flower stuffed with goat's cheese. Nice selection of wines too.
Bar Esteban is a brilliant neighbourhood restaurant. It has consistently great food, a great atmosphere and great service.
We had a magical evening! Food was gorgeous and the lady serving us was super sweet and could not have been more helpful and accommodating.
Some food just didn’t arrive (after one hour). Calamari was rather unpleasant
Great food, interesting tapas. Loved the courgette flower with goats cheese & candied golden beetroot. Rather dark & cramped in the middle of the restaurant. Better in window area or at rear.
I have been here on several occasions before but thought that on this visit the food was the best I’ve had. A little expensive for the amount we had but lovely.
Lovely, interesting tapas and atmosphere, highly recommend Bar Esteban.
I loved the food and service but unfortunately our evening was ruined by the restaurant being too hot! Was a hot day and there was candles and no Aircon! I felt faint and we had to leave the restaurant in an hour!i will not be back till winter!
Incredible food, wonderful atmosphere and fantastic service. Can't fault this place! Have recommended it to so many people.
Thanks for a great evening. See you again soon!
Esteban is a regular favourite of mine, the food is delicious and there is always a warm welcome.
Hi Had a great meal on Tuesday night, portion sizes were just about right and wine was great. Friendly staff and good to see even a Tuesday night they were busy. Cheers
Really great food and lovely service have been a number of times and always great, would highly recommend!
Absolutely amazing food, the staff are second to none and the atmosphere is buzzing, this is our very favourite place to go. The tuna tartar was out of this world. Bar Esteban never fails.
One of our favourite restaurants in Crouch End. The food is delicious, the atmosphere lively and the staff just lovely.
Always friendly service, great food and atmosphere
I often come to Bar Esteban and really love it. Food and wine are always fantastic. Chairs a bit uncomfortable would be my only complaint, but other than that it’s one of my very favourite places
We came back after four years with great expectations, but this time it failed be impress us. Although the food is good, the price is way to high for the quantity. Wines were surprisingly served in degustation volumes of 125cc, at roughly £7 each. In summary: 80 pound for 5 small taps and the equivalent of half a bottle of average Spanish wine left us wondering if things have changed, and not for the better.
Great atmosphere, very tasty tapas, portion sizes vary considerably, as the gambas al ajillo were a very generous size, but the courgette not so. Fantastic choice of wine, much more than just Rioja and Ribera. Very friendly service.
Amazing food, lovely atmosphere. Excellent gin!
