About Barbican Kitchen
Housed in the world famous Plymouth Gin Distillery, the Barbican Kitchen was established in 2006 by the Tanner Brothers, Chris and James.
Our aim is to deliver fresh local food at a realistic price.
The Barbican Kitchen takes full advantage of the superb larder available to us here in the Westcountry.
Both of our waitresses were absolutely brilliant! The set menu is really good value for money and the food is marvellous.
No surprises here. Every time I've been here it has always been excellent. Great food, great service and great value for money. Thanks.
Great food in a unique location
Excellent service and wonderful food as always.
Had a lovely evening with family. Service good. Starter portions small,in fact as regular customers we think the whitebait portion reduces in size each time.
Food was lovely, helped by great staff. Very friendly, not intrusive just their when needed. Great setting. Will be back 👍
We were very surprised that the waitress (a) didn’t know what a Kia Royal was and (b) that it was on your drinks menu!
Fantastic food and excellent service as always. Highly recommend.
Returned to Barbican Kitchen after maybe a six month absence. Refreshingly, service, food and value are still great. Sometimes you return to a favourite and are disappointed, not today. 2 had the crab starter, a 94 year old birthday girl and a 10 year old, both were in raptures. I enjoyed a pea and watercress soup, a decent sized bowl of silky soup. A steak was cooked to perfection for a fussy teen. 2 x burgers were full of tasty combinations and my market catch of the day fish was delicious, crisp on the outside and just flaking on the inside. Creme brulees and a stick toffee pudding followed with the lovely touch of a birthday message and candle on a plate (was provided unasked for and happily received). The bill worked out 30 a head including drinks, reasonable considering 3 of five had three courses, there was prosecco and a glass of wine in that too. We wont leave it as long to return, thank you Barbican Kitchen.
Low score for atmosphere in no way the fault if the staff
A fantastic evening celebrating our anniversary. Good was excellent.
Excellent service, so good for a family group with a young toddler - staff were really kind, food delicious and service first rate
Great 'Grown up' venue. Lovely decor and good food. This was our 2nd visit and we eill be back with friends whi have never been in the eat before.
Great service, amazing food with a lovely atmosphere... Fabulous!
Once again a wonderful meal, great service- our guests from the Midlands were very impressed - we are very lucky to have such fantastic food on our doorstep - thank you
As ever we had a really lovely meal - before we went to the theatre. Always our restaurant of choice - always a delight
Delicious food, plenty of choice and beautifully presented by friendly, helpful waiting staff. A lovely relaxed lunch with friends. Thank you!
Tasty food, fresh ingredients, prepared by properly trained chefs. A cut above. I eat there regularly with various friends and colleagues. The food is consistently pleasing. Occasionally, it is superb and I wonder if it has been prepared by some high-class chef, no less. Very good staff and service.
Excellent food, supurb service and a great atmosphere. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Plymouth
This is a place I would recommend to anyone, the service is amazing, they will even go out of their way for you. The food is always cooked to perfection. I can’t think of a better place to eat.
My family have been coming to the Barbican Kitchen since it originally opened and I have also visited with groups of work mates.Over the years it has remained consistently a great place to eat with good food, attentive staff and good atmosphere
Exceptional service & friendly atmosphere, very limited menu for vegetarians though, portion sizes & food quality was excellent & the Creme Brulee, out of this world. Thank you for a great meal which we followed up with a tour of the Plymouth Gin Distillery
Our third visit, the quality of the food and friendly helpful staff have always been consistent. A wonderful dining experience each time.
Great service, friendly knowledgeable staff. Delicious food, the steak and the lamb rump were perfectly cooked - we will definitely be back.
Service was a little slow in taking our drinks order and then the drinks and food order was all done at the same time! I would have preferred to choose my food over a drink! Once the order was taken the food came within an accepted time. We enjoyed everything especially the Happy Birthday piped onto our daughters plate
