About Bank House Hathersage
Formerly a historic bank, now a contemporary restaurant and cocktail bar nestling in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Bank House offers fresh locally sourced seasonal produce and the finest tipples from Europe.
Enjoyed the tapas. Relaxed evening and staff attentive. Would eat here again.
Lovely Setting and a great atmosphere, however the service was a little slow. We had a great waiter who was brilliant, but the waitress was not unfortunately. Coffees took a very long time to arrive. Food - my husband had the Arabian spiced pork skewers at £7, they tasted good, but it was 4 tiny pieces of pork with not a skewer in sight, we was both really disappointed by the portion, it needed at least another 2 pieces of pork to be more like a starter portion. I had the Pan-fried squid rings served with smoked paprika aioli, this tasted amazing it tasted a bit like it had a bacon frazzles coating on the squid. Unfortunately the squid was slightly overcooked, which made it a little chewy, I did have to ask for the smoked paprika aioli, which I was informed it was in the bottom of the dish hidden under the squid, in my opinion it should have been on the side as you don’t want to be fishing around for the dip. Mains I had the Crab & Prawn Linguini with a pomegranate side salad. The Linguini was divine the prawns were plump and perfectly cooked and a lot of them, the salad was a lovely addition too. My husband had the Ox cheek and wasabi mash, the meat was beautiful and tender, not sure about the mash I thought it was a bit too much dense food and could have done with a little less mash and maybe some roasted root vegetables. Would definitely recommend and would visit again.
Not enough staff in bar, waited ages for a drink on arrival.Really surly barman. Meal was adequate but waited 45 mins between starters and mains. We live close and were really looking forward to it. Don’t think we will return.Quite disappointing.
Unimpressive and absurdly salty food, really disappointed. As we said to our server - not bad enough to send back but bad enough to mention that we thought it poor quality. Service on drinks was abysmal - ordered before starters, chased repeatedly, eventually got water as all parched (see salty comment)......finally had drinks halfway through main course; had looked forward to trying several cocktails - only drank one as no more time. Won’t be back - now understand how so many tables were available on a Saturday night if this is a typical experience.
We were sat in the window so it was really cold. The waiting staff were very pleasant when serving us but we often had to get their attention for more drinks, the bill etc - they weren’t overly attentive.
Thank you to the whole team for making our night so special :) services was amazing as always and food was perfect.
Attentive, friendly and welcoming team members. Food excellent quality, taste and presentation. Impressed by the value for money. Will definitely return.
Excellent food and service, lovely atmosphere
Great private room, would definitely book that again. Food average I’m afraid. Roast pork tasteless no crackling or apple sauce. The red cabbage was strange to say the least.
The staff were professional and the waitress was good; the menu was interesting, however after waiting some considerable time the food arrived warm, not piping hot. The braised ox cheek was delicious but I would have liked more kale .. two very small pieces looked like garnish.
Amazing Tapas, great choice of drinks & fab service!
Best Sunday Roast!
Enjoyed our meal very much. Service excellent.
Loved the atmosphere in you restaurant when we were there. The food was excellent, as was the service. We loved it and will be back.
Been here many times and everyone time we have had fantastic service and great atmosphere. The staff are brilliant. My son had a great birthday there. Can’t wait to return.
This must rate as one of the poorest overpriced meals experienced in years. Poor quality and overpriced tapas and all 4 main courses were cooked within an inch of cremation. Quite frankly we couldn’t wait to get out of the freezing cold restaurant
Excellent food, great atmosphere and really friendly professional staff ... cocktails are also awesome!
Superb experience! Delicious sunday lunch, great service in beautiful surroundings. Will definitely be back. Thankyou.
Great food, great wine and friendly, professional staff. The extra touch of two complimentary glasses of Prosecco for Gill’s birthday was very much appreciated.
Thank you for a lovely lunch. It was my Mum’s 70th and the complimentary fizz was very much appreciated. We had the 2 course menu and all had something different. Very tasty and good value for money. Thank you
Gorgeous food, delicious wine, great atmosphere.
Great feeling. Amazing cocktails! Slightly pricey but a large size for the money. Food fabulous and worth every penny! Will be back soon! 👍
Absolutely lovely meal, in good company with excellent service, thank you Team Bank House
