The heart of Vietnam beats stronger than ever in Banh Bao Brothers as traditional food intertwines with modern appeal. Well-composed plates brimming with style make-up every bite as friends debate which item to dive into next.
The Leake Street Arches serve as home to urban art, dining and entertainment. Repurposed brick-laden archways off historic streets add charm and function to the entire neighbourhood. Where creativity and community collide, the growing area provides a quintessential urban experience. The first restaurant to open in the tunnel, Banh Bao Brothers continues to lead a culinary rebirth in a legendary spot.
The welcoming neon hue of the “Jade Dragon Bar” is irresistible to a friendly clientele. A Vietnamese-inspired cocktail menu puts a modern spin upon old world charm. Punchy flavours and complex layers create a potent mix that is sure to make a splash.
Brunch and dinner menus feature a range of shared plates alongside larger servings for the Hangry. bao combinations are available throughout the day.
Food was messed up three times even though the restaurant was pretty empty. Music was very loud and sadly the staff weren’t apologetic with mistakes with food. Was told the wine I ordered “wasn’t very nice”. Shame because the food was nice and it’s a cool location but the service ruined this.
I was really looking forward to going to Banh Bao Brothers when I had was all the good reviews. A lot of people stressed that it was not just style over substance as a lot of trendy places seem to be in London nowadays. Upon arrival, we were not sure if we had stepped into the right place, despite all the signage and branding that would suggest it was. After going through the entrance and looking around it seemed it was indeed the right place, but they were filming a TV episode in the front of the restaurant. We waited at the entrance for about five minutes checking our booking confirmation to see if they had sent an email to us cancelling our dinner due to this, but there was nothing. One of the waiters eventually came to us and sat us down and explained there was a show being shot tonight at the restaurant. Unfortunately it could have been due to the filming but I could not know for sure, we waited a very long time to get our orders taken, the drinks came out after the food, and our order came wrong. It seemed the waiters were very distracted with what was going on at the front of their restaurant, standing to watch and listen rather than being attentive to everyone else that was in the restaurant. Despite the series, we were still paying the exact same for the food, service and overall experience therefore expected it to be provided or at least be warned beforehand that this would not be the case to make our own decision whether we would still want to eat at that restaurant or go to another. It also took a very long tine to actually pay not only due to the staff but also the card machine system was not working properly so took several attempts. The drinks were good, however I can’t say hype about he food was deserved - sorry! Not sure I will be returning.
Great service! We had a different experience as they were filming a show in the restaurant. Food came out quickly. Waiter were helpful and very friends. Cool decor loved the colours, so viberant!!
Food was bland and pretty average whilst service was slow to the point I didn't order dessert because we wouldn't have had enough time before the theatre. There was some filming going on, so that was probably a bit of a distraction for staff, however additional events like that shouldn't really affect core service for paying customers.
We had to wait 15 minutes before our order was taken (only two of us) and the restaurant wasn't busy at the time. I feel like we were forgotten about and had to grab a waiters attention. Also during our meal we ordered more dishes but the waiters never removed the empty dishes leaving little free space on our table. However, the restaurant is stunning and the food and cocktails were amazing.
Great gem of a venue. VAT only added when asking for bill. Did order the Dragon cocktail however they had runout of dragon transfers and was not told until served up. Was overcharged and had to ask for money back which was abit of a palarva! Overall would try again and will still recommend however just won't rave about it.
The restaurant ambiance and food were good, it was just a shame the service was really slow and poor. We had to wait 30+ min for our drinks at the beginning (other tables who came after us received their food and drinks before us!) and then our food took another 20-30 to come out - and we didn't even receive all the dishes we ordered! Its really unfortunate because I really want to recommend the food, drinks and atmosphere of the place, but the service just made the whole experience unsatisfying :(
The staff were extremely distracted, had to wait a lot to be attended and also had to remind them about what we ordered...
Guys were really friendly and All the food was amazing! Will be telling my friends
What a place! Excellent venue, unique setting and well the food fresh and worth the money paid. Thanks Chefs!
When I arrived I was waiting by the ‘wait to be seated’ sign for a while. I had made a booking and had arrived around 10 mins late and the table wasn’t ready. The employees made eye contact with us and it wasn’t until my sister approached them that they spoke to us. They were also unaware of the booking that I had made. When the food came out some items were missing, some of my family didn’t have there food until the majority had finished. Our drinks came out last, despite ordering them at the beginning. The food was delicious, so when everything was put right it was enjoyable. The employees serving us were very understating of our situation and spoke to us very politely which made the experience better. I would come back, I just hope there could be better organisation - being ready for an existing booking and the logistics of food and drinks orders.
It was father’s day and we really had great experience here. The atmosphere is so cool ,even the entrance is well decorated and we noticed few people stopping just to take photos. The staffs were all friendly and had sense of humour. Foods taste excellent,my favourite is grilled ladies finger and aubergine. OG bao and their pork bbq with pork & prawn spring roll is a must taste when you go there. All in all we had fun and very satisfied with the foods and the service.
Food was amazing and recommendations and service were great and food was out super quick. Only slight criticism is that it took a long time for our plates to be cleared and for us to get the bill. But overall a great meal, would visit again for sure!
We loved the staff especially Daniel, he was very attentive and a great laugh. Can’t wait to go back.
The food was delicious and we both loved our cocktails but service was very slow. We waited twenty minutes for our drinks after ordering, and our starter came out after our mains. My friends food arrived way before mine and we had to chase for mine twice. Shame as the food and drink really was delicious
Really smashing food and friendly servers.
Great food and experience! Staff is also super friendly!
The owner was very nice (and cute) and really added to our evening. Also the food was simply delicious and the cocktails were very nice. I may have over done it on the One nights stands!
MY COLLEAGUES AND I BOOKED FOR A LEAVING DO DINNER. IT WAS BOOKED FOR 12 BUT MORE PEOPLE TURNED UP. I AM SO GLAD THAT THEY GAVE US THE SPOT UPSTAIRS! IT ALLOWED US TO EASILY GO AROUND AND CHAT WITH EVERYONE. ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A LOT OF CONFUSION REGARDING THE SET MENU, CHRIS AND HIS TEAM WERE VERY KIND ENOUGH TO HEAR US OUT AND EVEN OFFERED US A FEW SELECTIONS OTHER THAN THE SET MENU JUST TO APPEASE SOME OF US. FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL AND THE SERVING PORTIONS ARE REALLY WORTH THE PRICE! TRULY A HAVEN FOR FOODIES! I’LL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY!
Great place to take teenage kids.
Very cute place. A hidden gem. Food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly :)
My wife and I eat out in London a lot. A combination of high end and less illustrious options. We know what good looks like, both in terms of authentic flavour and service. As for our experience here. Terrific food, seriously seriously good food. Authentic Asian flavours delivered in great dishes. Also a very sleek interior, a little hidden gem. The main server was very good, but unfortunately it was downhill from there. The others were familiar to the point of being impolite. The Asian lad and the blonde haired woman were not courteous, and didn’t provide thorough customer service. They were slow, inattentive and uncaring. Luckily we were in a relaxed mood. We will return because the food was excellent - but the service needs to improve.
The small bites are amazing! The atmosphere very urban and upbeat yet stylish and classy. Service however was slow - if it werent i would have nothing to complain about everything else spot on!
Amazing food and wonderful staff
