Tucked into the overhang of a renovated archway, Banh Bao Brothers delivers an authentic Vietnamese restaurant experience in modern digs. Share a plate, have a laugh, and allow your taste buds to transport you to another side of the world.
The heart of Vietnam beats stronger than ever in Banh Bao Brothers as traditional food intertwines with modern appeal. More than just a Pho Joint, our restaurant and bar begins a new age of authentic Vietnamese cuisine in the United Kingdom. Well-composed plates brimming with style make-up every bite as friends debate which item to dive into next.
The Leake Street Arches serve as home to urban art, dining and entertainment. Repurposed brick-laden archways off historic streets add charm and function to the entire neighbourhood. Where creativity and community collide, the growing area provides a quintessential urban experience. The first restaurant to open in the tunnel, Banh Bao Brothers continues to lead a culinary rebirth in a legendary spot.
The welcoming neon hue of the “Jade Dragon Bar” is irresistible to a friendly clientele. A Vietnamese-inspired cocktail menu puts a modern spin upon old world charm. Punchy flavours and complex layers create a potent mix that is sure to make a splash.
Brunch and dinner menus feature a range of shared plates alongside larger servings for the Hangry. bao combinations are available throughout the day.
The fryer had broken when I visited and they had also run out of some things, so there were only about 4 of the tapas menu items available. However they were very tasty and I had the chicken curry which was lovely. The service however was appalling. Lovely staff, but the kind of place where no one will even come near your table unless you stand up and wave your hand in the air!!
This is our go to spot for Bao and Vietnamese street food. We bright 4 friends and it was an embarrassing experience. Table wasn’t ready Took 20+ mins before drinks order was taken Took an extra 20+ mins for drinks to arrive Waiters were all over the place, spilled beer on myself and the neighboring table. Food was great as always.
the food took between 35-50 minutes to arrive so half of the group had finished their meals before others even received theirs. The lunch comb meals were £10 but left us feeling hungry afterwards. There may have been other things on the menu but the lunch combo options were all deep fried. the venue itself has a really cool fit out, the food and service times definitely would need to be improved before I would go back again though.
Lots of things were missing from the menu :( other than that was great
Staff were all very friendly and service was brilliant. Food was delicious and not too pricey - the drinks were expensive though. Quirky decor and lovely atmosphere in restaurant.
First time for us and certainly won't be the last, the food was delicious and we can't wait to try more from the menu , the staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable ,awesome little restaurant in very cool surroundings , Big thanks and can't wait to come back 👍👍👍
Drinks were a bit slow and needed to be chased, but were free when they arrived which was a nice touch. Didn't quote seem like enough waiters as they were all working seemingly too hard to keep up. Food was terrific
Opened the restaurant just for our reservation! Thanks so much - we had a wonderful time and our client was pleased with the
Bit slow but atmosphere was great and food really tasty
great atmoshere. nice staff.
Great food, great service!!
Cool interior, but music was too loud, although I appreciate everyone has different opinions about that. We were seated next to the concrete wall at the front. It was cold and the bright light on the floor was blinding. Took ages for the server to come, and she (or kitchen) forgot one of our dishes. Chicken Bao was too salty, other things were tasty.
Service was poor. Waitress gave no guidance on the menu and when asked about portion sizes was unable to answer so we ended up over ordering. Food good.
Had a nice time with nice food but couldn't pick what we wanted because they were out of half of the food which was very disappointing (practically no meat dishes)
The food was good! The service sadly was really poor, so I wouldn’t recommend to friend.
We felt quite ignored. Menus were not given to us for 20 minutes. Food took 40 minutes to arrive. It was good but was let down by slow service
Location and atmosphere was pretty good but not good enoguh to make up for the poor service and very avaergage food.
What a treat! Everyone was super friendly from the moment you walk in until you leave. And the food ... Delicious! Proper Vietnamese comfort food under the Waterloo Arches.
Great staff, good tasty food. Would recommend
The food is undoubtedly delicious, though portions are tiny and I've not had service that poor in London before. we waited twenty minutes to even get a menu, let alone the wait for everything else. Our waiter was so out of it I questioned whether he might be stoned and when i asked to take service off (which I've never felt the need to do before) i was met my a grumpy "we are two people down tonight".... I am sure that is frustrating and if that was explained at the beginning then fine, but there was zero apology. I would like to give it another go as the food is really nice but think they need to tell their staff that a smile / acknowledgement of their customers can go along way - even if they are busy
Booked a table but we were led to a dorty table. Service was really poor, slow and took a really long time for us to be able to order and for food and drinks to arrive. Food was very good.
The setting, location, decoration, and food are all great! However service has never been something to write home about. Last time I came was mid-week at 9:15pm and we could really feel that the staff would rather be elsewhere. They spent most of their time sitting at the bar on their phones. Still worth a visit though.
Despite reservation, it was closed
Really great food
The over all experience was ok. I was told I could have a candle in the buns as it was my partners birthday but this didn’t happen. The wings were beautiful but the buns were really not to either of our tastes and we couldn’t eat them and actually made us quite ill. The atmosphere was average but the staff were lovely.
