About Sitooterie & Sheds @ The Lodge
The Sitooterie is a newly built covered patio area, complete with four trendy sheds for private dining, and had enabled us to extend our offering of outdoor dining and refreshments which can be enjoyed whilst overlooking the beautiful River Dee.
The Sitooterie will have a barbecue-style menu with grills, salads, tacos and flatbreads all served from our new ‘Ootside Scullery’ (outside kitchen). Chef has been working with a host of local suppliers, including Sheridans, Angus and Oink and Phoenix Bakehouse to create a fantastic new menu.
We thought the new-is outdoor section was really welcoming and comfortable. It is really nicely done. Staff were on good form as usual. The outside menu was a bit restricted, especially the kids menu - choice of a sandwich or grilled chicken as a main. Perhaps this is a COVID issue. If so, a greater choice would be welcome. We were not the only table to consider that the Sous Vide chicken was under cooked. We accepted the explanation that it was the method of cooking but the texture of the pink flesh was like uncooked chicken so it wasn't that pleasant. I clearly specified when booking that I have a nut allergy. On the menu there is a Q reader square which I think would have led to allergy information. I ordered the brownie for dessert which sounded amazing. The description was chocolate brownie, salted caramel and creme fraiche. It came packed with nuts, not just garnish. That should have been clearly specified as part of the description. I am very careful but I don't expect to ask the question about nuts for every single food item on the menu particularly when it was clear what was in the brownie - nothing about nuts and it was packed with them. Staff to their credit were great and changed my order to something else I liked on the dessert menu - there was a lot of choice for me there. Given the amount of nuts present, it would be really easy to make that clear in the menu. For £70 for two adults (no alcohol) and one child for a tapas lunch it did seem a little expensive.
It’s just super. Very tasty food, friendly helpful staff, great buzz, great views. What more could you need!
Amazing food - the best steak I’ve had in a very long time. Love the new Sitooterie menu. Ten out of ten all round. Service was great, setting beautiful. The girl who looked after our table was so attentive. Just fab, well done to everyone!
The Sitooterie is a fabulous outdoor addition to the wonderful Banchory Lodge Hotel. I was so disappointed when once seated we were advised that it was a tapas restaurant. Unfortunately was not a fan of the menu, but the wine and the ambiance was fantastic!
Had to ask for the bill twice. Had to ask for a Diet Coke and lemonade 3 times. Had to ask for the potatoes when we had been given our food and the waitress asked if everything was ok. £4 for a packet of pork scratchings was rather expensive The bread states it comes with a selection of oils and vinegar. But we were given oil and vinegar in a bottle. The food comes out quick which is good. The taste of the food was good. The large chicken portion was quite small in comparison to the small tacos. There is definitely more value for money in the large tacos. Dessert was awesome.
Love the new outside area, great menu will definitely come back
We had a wonderful night in the Sitooterie on Friday night. The outdoor menu is unique and tasty. The setting is beautiful! The service was a little slow but I’m sure that will improve as they get in to the swing of things. They do possibly need another bar for the outside area so drinks are served a little quicker and so there is less pressure on the indoor bar staff. Lovely night and can’t wait to go back!
Service was a little slow, particularly in terms of ordering drinks. Given the strict time windows, maybe more staff would be good to ensure coverage of all tables. The food was delicious though, and service was friendly for the most part
Great night thank you .
Arrived on time for our booking. Finally got a menu half an hour later. We got up to leave 50 minutes after arriving, no drinks and no food.
We had a lovely lunch in the Sitooterie area. The food and service were both excellent. Would highly recommend.
Great food and service, will definitely be back
First time visit & would definitely be back. Food & setting were excellent, I did think £8.50 for a large glass of wine was a bit steep tho'. Maybe add a burger to the menu, as our 2 teenagers suggested?
The Sitooterie set up will be great, it was a little cold on Saturday but our party of 4 still enjoyed our first venture out since December (I think it was warmer in December!)
Even on the most horrible day all fantastic god bless the staff
Such a lovely lunch on a freezing cold rainy day yesterday. Hats off to the amazing staff who must’ve been frozen but didn’t let it show: great effort and yummy imaginative food
Lovely new outside area with really comfortable seating. The new tapas style menu is great with a good choice of dishes too. Maybe a few heaters would be a good idea but not a deal breaker as we'll definitely be back.
