About Banchory Lodge Hotel
You will find dishes ranging from the classic to the contemporary. In our newly refurbished restaurant we offer relaxed dining in a stunning setting overlooking the River Dee. Dishes include sharing platters and a chargrill selection with steaks as a speciality. Where possible, it is all made from the best locally sourced Scottish produce.
Took friends for first time. They were very impressed by location and quality of food.
We were sat for over 10 minutes without anyone coming to attend to us. Then after another 10 minues of waiting, we were asked if we had any dietory requirements which we thought odd since I had emailed these 2 weeks beforehand. At no point were we asked what kind of sandwiches we would like, the vegetarian got the same amount of sandwiches/cakes as the 2 meat eaters. The service was very very slow which was strange since it was not busy. We didn't get any food until we had been there for over 40 minutes.....I would not recommend for afternoon tea. On the plus side the staff were friendly and the decor very nice.
A little more generous dessert portions would be better!
Our meal at the Banchory lodge was really lovely, service excellent which counts for a lot! The starters were all very tasty and good portions. The cod main was excellent, however the Sole was overpowered by the extremely string garlic butter. We would definitely still return.
A great place for a lunch time meal even worth giving up half a days fishing! Pity about the fishing this year but as ever the service and food at the hotel was great.
This review is for our dining experience which was pretty poor. Our bedroom was excellent and the lounge area was very nive. The hotel location is superb
Lovely experience - great service and views amazing! One of the best meals I’ve had. Will definitely be back soon!
Booked to celebrate a family engagement. Service was fabulous - food was really good too. Best of all, our dogs got spoiled by the staff. Will definitely be back!
Although all members of staff were very polite and welcoming They were let down by the service of the drinks We ordered a bottle of red wine to go with our steaks But had to send wine back because we had finished our meal by the time waitress brought it to our table. But other than that food and service was great 👍
Service was quite slow on the day we were there, but everyone was pleasant.
The food was spectacular - the attention to detail didn't go unnoticed. The service was very good from the maitre'd. It took a while to take our payment, a miscommunication on the part of the serving staff I think. We will definitely be coming back.
Both food and service were much better than our last visit to BL. Well done!
The service staff were particularly excellent. And the ambience and food and drink are just lovely.
Lovely place with great food and very attentive service
Wonderful evening. Great food and excellent service. Fantastic menu. Only improvement could have been the chunky chips were not really chunky! Need to be way bigger - but that's personal preference! Would highly recommend.
Some menu items slightly misleading, but otherwise good value for money. Prompt service too
Absolutely lovely afternoon.
After attending a wedding last year I thought it would be a great place to enjoy afternoon tea. Atmosphere and setting were great, however, disappointed with the afternoon tea. 2 triangle sandwiches each and a load of not so great sweets items..... scones were good though. Had high expectations but was left disappointed. ☹️
Always a pleasure to visit this stunning location. On this occasion we went for a birthday dinner which was great choice. Equally good to visit for an informal meal after time out in the surrounding outdoors (stunning part of the world!). Staff are extremely friendly and professional and always make it a special occasion. Thanks for having us
A beautiful setting to enjoy either dinner or a drink. A very comprehensive menu so plenty of choices. Perhaps a little understaffed when we visited.
I had booked the set menu for Father’s Day, as advertised on the website. But when we turned up we were told that there was not a table in the restaurant and that the 5 of us would have to sit in the bar... at a very small table. We were then handed “brunch” menus (for a 2pm roast dinner reservation). I questioned this as it was not what I had booked, and was told by the waitress that that idea had been “scrapped” so this was the only menu. If I had known that beforehand then I could have made other arrangements. The food was fine but not what I had planned for a special Father’s Day lunch
Almost unbelievable, I’ve visited Banchory Lodge so many times and it has never once disappointed!
We have visited banchory lodge many times as a couple and a family. However, putting aside the friendly personal service we always get from the staff, we found the cost of the meal to be very over priced. Three glasses of wine were over £35 which is an extortionate amount when the bottles themselves are only slightly more than a glass. The food was ok, nothing amazing. The fact that our meal including a tip came in at over £40 per head I find this far too expensive. Although it was a nice evening, I’m not sure I will be rushing back anytime soon.
Nice calming atmosphere great for afternoon tea with the family. My gran loved it with the scenery and the service
