Usually I really enjoy Bambalan, however, this time I was more than disappointed. I booked this table for myself and my partner, promising her a fun, vibrant place to enjoy our evening, instead, we got sat round on the greyest of balconies, with no music, no sun, no atmosphere, no heaters, no decoration, nothing! I made a point of it when I was there, and of course ‘nothing could be done’. Yet I still had to pay full price just like everyone else in the good part of the restaurant (which is a kick in the teeth when it’s over £100). People go to Bambalan for the atmosphere, and this was, in all honesty, embarrassing. We felt like mugs walking back through after to leave. I’d love to say I’d be back again, but if that’s how a small select few get treated, I really don’t know if I will be.
Nice rooftop views and for drinks. Need more heaters due to covid reg
Lively atmosphete Lovely food A couple of menu items seemed expensive but we managed to have a meal for a reasonable price
Had a great evening here, starters were amazing, pizza was ok.
Why did you get rid of the Mediterranean menu? The food is now quite uninspiring. Also please get more heaters it's freezing outside in the evening. Staff were very friendly and attentive though and we love the location.
Food was nice but a little expensive for what it was. Atmosphere wasn’t great. It was freezing cold and we were essentially in a wind tunnel! This would have been ok if the service was good, but unfortunately it felt like we were an inconvenience and felt a little ignored.
Great night loved the music, the vibe and the staff were very friendly! Defo coming back
Food was nice but overpriced, not good value for money. Service was good.
Such a great venue, the service was amazing! Drinks are pretty pricey but really enjoyable. Over a great experience!
Lovely pizza. Good music and ambience. Can’t wait to be back
Lovely terrace and staff were very friendly. Drinks were lovely but a bit expensive. Could do with a happy hour/241 deal! Staff slow to come round to take next orders but quick to bring drinks out. Overall enjoyed and will come back again :)
Booked the rooftop for food and drinks and we were in the shade underneath a tent in the freezing cold. We weren’t allowed to move to a table in the sun because of covid, but it would have been good to put the heaters on. A lunch and a few drinks (2 people) came to about £100 which we didn’t think was value for money at all. Wine and cocktails were horrible and ridiculously over priced, also if you have one of the off menu cocktails it’s £13.50 which they don’t advertise despite it saying on the menu ‘all cocktails £9’. Food was quite nice but expensive for what it was. I can imagine if you come and get a table in the sun and stick to the other drinks then it would probably be nice but it’s down to luck. Staff were friendly but adding on £10 service charge was a bit steep considering we we had to sit in a freezing shady corner even though tables in the sun were free. Overall I probably wouldn’t come back
You prioritise tables over the size of 2 and shove 2 seater tables wherever you can fit them. I came twice this weekend and both times I was so disappointed. You should work harder at making those tables of 2 feel like more of a priority. When we asked to move we were spoken to rudely.
Had high hopes but the food wasn’t great, but the atmosphere was better
Staff were great, very attentive, and it was a good atmosphere all evening.
Was really good and the staff was very friendly, we felt the table we was on was far to close to the others and was just put in the middle. Everyone had to walk past us or navigate around our table, even when we arrived the chairs was moved from the bottom to the top and a random table moved from another to the middle of a walk way, the poor womanhad to carry 2 chairs up the stairs.. I had booked so I was fully expecting a table ready for us but it felt like we was forgetten about and just plonked where ever there was a space.
Forced to sit in the rain. Server mentioned they'd try move us as we were the only ones without a parasol and instead we had to use our own umbrella. We were never moved to another table. Overpriced pizza (£14) although tasty. Server placed optional £10 service charge onto the bill after giving us poor service and I had to ask to remove it.
Great restaurant, busy and friendly. Only the vegetarian platter was a little disappointing, overpriced as was only a small amount of food. Other than that was good!
Staff were all very friendly and helpful, despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon. New cocktail menu was great and pizzas were lovely too - thank you for a great first 'night out' in over a year 😊
The service by the waitress was spot on but the gentleman wearing the scarf around his face at the main desk didn’t even acknowledge our arrival - at first we thought he maybe hadn’t seen us, but after 4 minutes a colleague spoke to him and he said ‘can you greet those people please’ - an acknowledgement would not have gone a miss sir.
First time visiting and albeit it was different to how it may usually be because of covid restrictions, we all had a pretty poor experience which has made me feel like I do not want to visit again. When we arrived it was raining and we were told our table had gotten wet so we were put on a tiny table round the back of the terrace so we were away from the atmosphere and outdoor heater. It was extremely cold, the table was only fit for 2 people and there was 3 of us squeezed on which was not comfortable when eating. We asked multiple times if we could be moved upstairs once a table leaves and was told we were first priority but alas we watched as tables kept leaving but we were not moved. I made this booking months ago so I’m disappointed we were not allocated a better table in the first place. The service was slow and the cocktails weren’t anything special - there is only a small selection and between 3 of us we tried about 6 different ones and they weren’t very nice. The pizzas were good and that’s the only thing that we were happy with!
10am booking for breakfast. Trampled food under the table (from previous day?). Coffees came in mugs ranging from not looking too clean to dirty. Coffee not good so didn’t order a 2nd. Very limited unexciting breakfast menu. Servers very friendly. Checked on us often. We were offered sauces with our breakfasts and we accepted. Surprised to find we were charged extra for sauces. Went up Whiteladies Rd to Waylands for 2nd (excellent) coffee , and breakfast there was more interesting and appealing so had another one there for lunch.
