About Balloo House
Walking into Balloo House, you’ll immediately be struck by its atmosphere of ease, comfort and conviviality, due in part to good company, sturdy stone walls and time–worn flagstones. If the weather is inclement, with a sharp wind blowing off nearby Strangford Lough, you can warm your essentials on the old range, a remnant of Balloo’s farming days. Other parts can be warmed by the fine selection of spirits, wines and beers on offer at this colourful watering hole. And if you didn’t have an appetite beforehand, a perusal of the sumptuous bistro menu is sure to induce one.
Great evening. Thanks
Good food, lovely place & friendly staff!
Fantastic meal and great service, hope to return soon.
Has been a while since our last visit, always enjoyed the food but the service was a bit hit or miss. Big change couldn’t fault the service and the staff and yes the food was great.
Lovely waitress and delicious food - will definitely be back!
Enjoyed our meal with you on Sunday. Our favourites weren’t on the menu, but I suppose with it being Fathers Day, there was a set menu! Meal we had was enjoyable and the squid was devine.
Food was excellent on very busy day and with a 1 year old with us we were very well catered for
A fantastic lunch
We had a fantastic early evening meal.
Great food, great atmosphere as always. Thanks
We dined on Sunday 9th June, for a family sunday dinner. The grub was excellent, we were very well looked after by everyone and it was very relaxed. We will definitely be back to try more of the food on offer. Thanks for a great Sunday dinner.
Wonderful food...service fantastic. .can't wait to return!
First time here in ages. Service initially good but once food arrived we were left alone - no check if food was okay, no checking if okay for drinks between courses. So I had to get up and find a staff member to get another drink between starter and mains and had to get up again to request the bill later. Staff were friendly. All starters were great. My wife's burger bap was burnt - she never eats the bread anyway but that wasn't the point, the presentation was poor. Very lengthy wait between starter and main course.
Roast rump of lamb was delicious and perfectly cooked for me. Warm soft centred chocolate and hazelnut dessert was gorgeous!
Dine at your restaurant several times a month would like to see more specials available or changes to menu more often
Great food, great atmosphere and location.
Some of the food was good (lamb samosa was really nice). But the curried lamb belly was poor. It had far too much fat for my (and my wife’s taste) and little curry flavour. My wife ordered some prawn dish to start and when it first came out there were virtually no prawns. Disappointing. Service was good.
A perennial favourite
Food absolutely delicious and staff couldn’t have been anymore helpful. Will definitely be back!
Excellent service as always.
We were at Balloo on 18th May and found a great new, New Menu .. and we all really enjoyed the food... in fact, it was outstandingly good. What a pleasure to find fresh new items on a menu and experience the pleasure of superior cooking skills. Vanessa and the team, as always, make it a pleasure to visit Balloo House. Thank you.
Fab meal and service
We were warmly welcomed. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and all specials. They offered to cater for keto diet, so I was very happy to have both steak and lobster. There was an exciting range of starters and main courses. The small band playing in the bar area was excellent and provided a lovely atmosphere. All in all, a great night out. Thank you!
Our meal was dreadful and we would not return. What used to be a wonderful dining experience has fallen so far down it'll be hard to get back up again. Very sad.
The early bird menu was lovely and good value for money
