With Parisian and New York influences, Balfes is an all-day dining brasserie and uptown bar in the heart of Dublin 2’s Creative Quarter. Located on Balfe Street, where Grafton Street and the Creative Quarter meet, Balfes features a 20 seater outdoor terrace, a zinc-covered bar and open kitchen and is open from 8am until late Monday to Friday and from 10am until late Saturday and Sunday.
The menu offers healthy breakfasts, leisurely lunches and dinner using the best of Irish seafood and quality meat, with all produce expertly sourced by our experienced chefs. Strong on Irish artisan ingredients including farmhouse cheese and house smoked salt, Balfes also has its own coffee blend, home-baked pastries, muffins and cakes, homemade preserves and chutneys and cold pressed juice, making it the perfect space for breakfast meetings with tempting treats.
Grilled steak, prawns and whole fish are roasted on a charcoal grill using grass-fed Irish beef, dry aged for 32 days, while fresh oysters, ceviche, seaweed cured Gravlax and Castletownbere crab make up the seafood offering. Fresh local produce goes into creating Balfes’ salads, weekend brunches, juices and cocktails.
Balfes caters for specific dietary requirements and offers plenty of gluten-free choices across the menu including gluten free omelettes, fish and chips, pancakes and offerings from the charcoal grill including the burger which can be served in a gluten free wrap. The menu also offers pilaf rice, a vegan rice option, and dairy free rice pudding.
Formerly Pitt Street, Balfe Street was renamed in honour of internationally celebrated composer, Michael William Balfe, who was born and spent his youth in a house on No. 10 Pitt Street. The musical tradition continues today, rebooted for the 21st century. Complimentary all-day WIFI makes Balfes the perfect place to work or meet.
Excellent food, service and ambience. One of my favourite restaurants in Dublin. We were a group of 6 and 4 of our party had never dined in Balfes before, however, they were suitably impressed. Hence, you will have 4 new customers who will certainly dine in your restaurant again. Many thanks
I will highly recommended Staff really nice food fantastic Can't fault it.
Amazing! From the service to the wine to the food! The venue is beautiful the food is amazing and the company was helped too :-) I would definitely recommended Balfes.
What a great place for lunch to escape. Food was delicious and the people working there are just lovely. Roisin, our waitress, was particularly great. Great personality. Knew when to interact and yet was a ninja with clearing plates / glasses and topping up. Such a lovely person. Thanks guys!
I went here for a birthday dinner for my boyfriend. It was quite quiet but we had booked an early dinner slot on a Sunday so possibly not the busiest of times! I must say that the service was impeccable! Staff were friendly and extremely attentive. I had emailed ahead to ask for a birthday plate and they had it all organized without reminder or anything! We went for the pre-theater menu which was fantastic value for money considering the standard of the food! Food was absolutely delicious and I will definitely be returning! Thank you for a great evening!
Ive been here before and the food/portion/service was great. This time around, the food took over 30 mins to be served, and when I kindly asked how much longer it would be I was told its still within the normal waiting time. I was not complaining, so that defensive reply was rude. The option i ordered was bland and portion tiny. Im upset to say that I used to enjoy brunch at Balfes, but am unlikely to go again after this experience.
Staff were very attentive. We had a really enjoyable evening.
Organised brunch my friends Hen party. Very good value for money and very friendly staff. Food was yum!
Lovely dining room for an early evening dinner which turned into a late dinner. The staff left us to talk as long as we liked.
Gorgous meal 10/10 service was top quality drinks were lovely nothing bad to say
We had a lovely evening. Good buzz in the place. Food was lovely and good wine list. Service was excellent
Lovely place a bit pricey for me but for special occasions treating yourself definitely come back
Excellent table service-staff extremely well trained! Food and atmosphere brilliant! We would Definitely recommend eating here.
Delicious charcuterie board in a lovely restaurant.
Your starter of bread and dips was very average. The brown bread was too thickly sliced and the choice/variety of bread was not good. One slice of tomato bread, one slice of white bread and three slices of brown bread.
The Service, Food, restaurant was magnificent. We had a large party of 10 for dinner and the service was second to none. Highly recommend this restaurant
Food and service very good with nice ambience to boot! Will return.
PLEASE change the head-thumping techno music. TURKEY BURGER: rather tasteless and dry (mass produced?). Sweet potato wedges soggy. Guacamole fine. Excellent Margarita cocktail.
I had a really enjoyable brunch last week with friends. The staff were exceptionally accommodating and service was very gracious. We will definitely recommend and return. Thank you.
Thank you so much for a fabulous meal in such comfortable surroundings!
Staff were very accommodating for our young daughter. They also brought out a surprise birthday dessert for my mother-in-law as I had mentioned it in my booking. Very friendly atmosphere and tasty food, a lot of options on their brunch menu.
Beautiful food, lovely service, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely be dining here again.
