With Parisian and New York influences, Balfes is an all-day dining brasserie and uptown bar in the heart of Dublin 2’s Creative Quarter. Located on Balfe Street, where Grafton Street and the Creative Quarter meet, Balfes features a 20 seater outdoor terrace, a zinc-covered bar and open kitchen and is open from 8am until late Monday to Friday and from 10am until late Saturday and Sunday.
The menu offers healthy breakfasts, leisurely lunches and dinner using the best of Irish seafood and quality meat, with all produce expertly sourced by our experienced chefs. Strong on Irish artisan ingredients including farmhouse cheese and house smoked salt, Balfes also has its own coffee blend, home-baked pastries, muffins and cakes, homemade preserves and chutneys and cold pressed juice, making it the perfect space for breakfast meetings with tempting treats.
Grilled steak, prawns and whole fish are roasted on a charcoal grill using grass-fed Irish beef, dry aged for 32 days, while fresh oysters, ceviche, seaweed cured Gravlax and Castletownbere crab make up the seafood offering. Fresh local produce goes into creating Balfes’ salads, weekend brunches, juices and cocktails.
Balfes caters for specific dietary requirements and offers plenty of gluten-free choices across the menu including gluten free omelettes, fish and chips, pancakes and offerings from the charcoal grill including the burger which can be served in a gluten free wrap. The menu also offers pilaf rice, a vegan rice option, and dairy free rice pudding.
Formerly Pitt Street, Balfe Street was renamed in honour of internationally celebrated composer, Michael William Balfe, who was born and spent his youth in a house on No. 10 Pitt Street. The musical tradition continues today, rebooted for the 21st century. Complimentary all-day WIFI makes Balfes the perfect place to work or meet.
Happy with brunch
Excellent meal and service
We were celebrating our daughter graduation and had a fantastic meal at Balfes. The food was excellent and our waitress Anna was amazing. Thank you for making our evening so special. Special thanks for our complementary celebratory dessert to share-lovely end to a great evening
We were happy enough. Thavk you.
Serving staff were excellent. Unfortunately food was underwhelming and over seasoned. 14 euros for kids menu was far too expensive given what was on offer
Very friendly staff, lovely buzzy atmosphere
Excellent...enjoyed every moment of it
Excellent service. Lovely food but limited dessert options.
Lovely celebratory meal at Balfes. The staff were so nice. The food was lovely, we all enjoyed our different meals. Will be back!.
Exceptional floor and wait staff. They were kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. The food was exceptional.
Thanks for making a 40th Birthday extra special with the complimentary dessert.
Found food to be very average...but staff very attentive!
I arrived for brunch with a friend at 10.30am on Sat having booked a table. The restaurant was practically empty until around 12pm, yet we were seated by the tills. There were free tables by the window, and everywhere really, but we were given possibly the worst seat there. And at 12.30 we were asked to leave, we were told the table was booked, yet there were still a few empty tables around us. Not a great experiece I have to say, wont be rushing back.
Lovely meal the caesar salad was fab and pecan tart for dessert.
Really enjoyed the evening in Balfes. Great food and lovely staff.
Excellent service as ever in Balfes. Lovely place for lunch and or drinks One or the best in Dublin
Really enjoyed our visit and meal. Quality of food on the pre theatre menu was excellent. Staff were very hardworking and friendly. I thought the Irish were the only race who had plenty of good humour and craic but the Portuguese staff excelled in both. Can’t wait to return.
Hi we had a very enjoyable meal, lovely food and good service The waitress guessed it was a family birthday and discreetly asked me my husbands name and brought out a dessert with candle singing happy birthday , lovely evening, we have eaten there many times and will continue to do so, we were there on Christmas eve last year for lunch and are hoping to do so again . Kind regards Ruth Egan
Very friendly staff
