Description brought to you by Manchester Confidential:
Passionate about Venetian small plates.
There is something about Salt House Bacaro in Liverpool that makes you want to spend all day and evening in there, talking with friends, laughing, whispering; draining your wallet on lots and lots of its food. And you won’t even care.
That’s not to say Salt House Bacaro is particularly expensive, but it is very addictive and temptation is everywhere. From Paddy Smith’s Red and Blue group, which already runs the hugely popular Salt House Tapas and Hanover Street Social, Bacaro is all about ciccheti, the Italian version of tapas: diminutive, and, as the saying (almost) goes, perfecto formed. The attention and passion is evident.
Spinach puree and pea shoots elevate goats cheese pearls into the heavens. Or try acorn-fed Iberico ham; Venetian, slow cooked duck ragout; a handful of pizzettes, and wonderful Stornoway black pudding with chicken livers in Marsala. Don’t miss the grilled king scallops in shells (£3.50 each), a perfect 10. Thirsty? Choose one of 10 different Camparis or a Bellini from a magnificent list.
"It is very clear that everyone involved is absolutely passionate about the food and how it is cooked and presented, along with obsessive interest in provenance." - Gordo
Bacaro is by far the best restaurant in Liverpool Everybody I take here or introduce it to - LOVE it and always return If I could eat here every night - I would! The food is divine and amazing as it comes as tapas (but perfectly sized portions) You will not be disappointed! I want to go there now!
We often visit here and we have never received nothing but excellent service and delicious food. I recently have had to switch to a gluten free diet and I was particularly amazed at your choices, so thank you.
I felt like that everything seemed heavily fried, there needed to be some freshness to balance it out - either more greens or lighter batters used. The fried calamari on the other hand seemed soft rather than crispy and the Milanese chicken was too heavily breaded. The pickled turnip didn’t compliment the fried gnocchi either... being Spanish I felt it didn’t do justice to the food I know. The slow cooked meats were good but as a table of food everything felt quite heavy - maybe a fault of ours in terms of ordering. The staff were great and really helpful.
The waitresses are lovely and the tall slim bearded man with a paisley shirt (possibly a manager) was especially kind. Food absolutely to die for. Atmosphere is really lovely
I have been here a few times, and i love it! The food is amazing, the service is great and would do anything to help, it is always busy with such a good atmosphere, would recommend to anyone.
It was our first time at Bacaro and we will definitely recommend to friends.
The 50p charge for tap water was perplexing and annoying in principle. Why not give that 50p to Water Aid, your financial security cannot be predicated on it.
As always we had a lovely meal @ Bacaro .Staff on hand to assist with any questions we had regarding any of The dishes.
Always wonderful service and food. Love it!!
Absolutely love this restaurant - always my ‘go to’ place in Liverpool. Went for my birthday with a group of friends on Saturday for lunch and we had such a lovely time. The food is amazing and service always incredible - definitely recommend!
Wonderful meal, service was excellent. My mum was also given a complimentary glass of prosecco for her birthday which was a lovely surprise.
Considering how highly rated Bacaro was on Trip Advisor I was disappointed by the food and general atmosphere. There was nothing specifically wrong but nothing stood out and some of the dishes were a bit poorly executed.
Recommended by my friends who lives in the Wirral and I was visiting from Norfolk Everything perfect and wonderfully cooked ! Staff very attentive ! 5*
Great food choice & quality plus the best service I know in Liverpool.
Firstly would like to express how much we enjoy the Baccaro, the food and staff are always both so lovely. We couldn’t be happier with the service we received from Alicia, her customer service is impeccable and made us feel priority all night. Also delighted with the return of our fave dish mac and cheese chicken and complimentary glass off fizz. Thanks for another fab meal!
The food and wine we ordered were fabulous as always. My birthday evening was made even more special by the service we received from all the staff, particularly Bryson, the manager. Nothing was too much trouble, even though the restaurant was very busy at the time. Would highly recommend.
Fantastic experience, could not fault it
Great food, atmosphere, very friendly service. We will return.
Wonderful food friendly helpful staff and we had a lovely evening to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Thank you.
We visited 3 times in 10 days- twice for lunch and once for early evening. Lunch time had an extra menu that had dishes our daughter would have preferred
Love the place. Always telling people to go there
We had an amazing meal here with family. The service was spectacular, with really friendly and knowledgable staff. It was our first time here and we cannot wait to come back again. Thank you for a great meal!!
Consistently great food and service. Seasonal menu changes brings new, always enjoyable and tasty well thought out tapas which is why we’re regular customers.
