About Auberge du Lac
The Brocket Hall Estate is home to two restaurants - Auberge du Lac and The Melbourne Club.
AUBERGE DU LAC
Housed in Brocket Hall’s former hunting lodge, Auberge du Lac enjoys a beautiful lakeside setting overlooking the stunning 543 acre country estate and the Hall itself.
Whether it is al fresco dining in summer at the water’s edge, or an intimate environment in the winter months, Auberge du Lac provides the right mood for every occasion. With a beautiful lounge, picturesque terrace and a host of tastefully decorated private dining rooms, capable of seating from 2 to 18 guests, the restaurant regularly caters for private dinners, ladies lunches, weddings, birthday parties and other celebrations.
THE MELBOURNE CLUB
At the heart of the Estate lies The Melbourne Club. The restaurant opens its door to the public for special events from Wine Dinners to Jazz Sunday Lunch. With views across the Broadwater Lake to Brocket Hall, The Melbourne Club is the perfect location to enjoy a drink on the terrace followed by lunch or dinner.
Availability
Excellent food in a lovely environment looked after beautifully by all the auberge team. Always a lovely place to go.
All most enjoyable thank you.
Great experience for drinks and restaurant environment was good too. Portions were surprisingly small, even for fine dining - to the point where it was a little disappointing versus the cost of the meal. Would not stop me from visiting again per se, to try other items but absence of any side order supplements etc. Let it down. Wines were good. Service was good - especially given average age of the staff (young!).
Absolutely brilliant on all fronts, wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
lovely afternoon, great service for our anniversary
We had such a fabulous evening with you on Saturday - from the moment we stepped through the door we were treated to such a warm and friendly welcome. Our table service was excellent and well-timed and the food was absolutely delicious. We particularly enjoyed our starters (beetroot salad) and the chocolate desert. We asked your sommelier to select a nice Riesling to accompany our meal and it was perfect! Thanks so much and we will definitely be recommending you to friends and returning to Auberge as soon as possible! Rachel and Tim
We had a wonderful meal - beautifully presented, tasty, just the right amount of food. Really lovely!
Great food and tentative service! 4 *
Food was exceptional!
Very disappointed that there was no cheese board available, I do not really enjoy desserts. I cant understand why someone could not go out and buy some, it's not like it's made on site!!!
We couldn't fault our lunchtime visit, superb in every way.
very nice atmosphere, friendly, delicious food , we have enjoyed our lunch. Drinks are expensive.
It had been a number of years since I last visited Auberge du Lac and do not remember too much about that visit apart from the company I was with. However this visit will remain in my memory for a longtime to come and not just for the company I was in. The service from our initial hostess right down the line was impeccable with just the right amount of informality and levity. The general ambiance on a grey damp day was warm and relaxing and the Sunday lunch was outstanding. Looking forward to another visit, sooner rather than later.
We had a most enjoyable Sunday lunch. The food was excellent, the wine menu eclectic and the service exemplary.
Took my wife here for her Birthday and the food and service was excellent. I forget his name but Manager (Ukranian I think) was super funny and his team really looked after us well :)
Food was fantastic, as was the location and view. My only gripe was being handed the main menu without the lunch menu meaning we had to spend more than necessary, and also the tea was dire and in England that’s a sin. Will return nonetheless.
The place is Beautiful and the staff was great. Food was average unfortunately, no much value for money...
My favourite place for lunch, a beautiful setting. I had my wedding reception here so it holds a special place in my heart. Great service and the food was absolutely delicious as always. Slightly disappointed the Christmas decorations weren't up yet but maybe I visited a week too early. The set menu is good value for money, although we used to get a lot more on Ladies lunch day a few years ago. I drove two hours from Suffolk to come here so hopefully that speaks for itself how much I rate it here. Highly recommended.
I've eaten lunch here many times and it never fails to delight.
Excellent attention to our guests with dietary requirements/allergies who were offered dishes of an equally high standard.
The atmosphere at this venue is always special As usual, the food and service were impeccable. I was introducing dear friends to L’Auberge and they and I were not disappointed.
Our first visit and we were all really impressed with set lunch menu. Looking forward to another visit. Just one small point none of liked the coffee. The young lady who served us was very helpful and tried to make the coffee to our taste so no complaints with the way she handled the issue, impressed. Our local deli/ restaurant serves decaffinated coffee from Wooden Hill from Bedfordshire which is delicious, it’s a local firm as well. Do give it a try. Regards Christine
Absolurely lovely. Thank you.
Lovely food in an absolutely beautiful setting.
Fantastic lunch, great service, great food, great location
