About Auberge du Lac
The Brocket Hall Estate is home to two restaurants - Auberge du Lac and The Melbourne Club.
AUBERGE DU LAC
Housed in Brocket Hall’s former hunting lodge, Auberge du Lac enjoys a beautiful lakeside setting overlooking the stunning 543 acre country estate and the Hall itself.
Whether it is al fresco dining in summer at the water’s edge, or an intimate environment in the winter months, Auberge du Lac provides the right mood for every occasion. With a beautiful lounge, picturesque terrace and a host of tastefully decorated private dining rooms, capable of seating from 2 to 18 guests, the restaurant regularly caters for private dinners, ladies lunches, weddings, birthday parties and other celebrations.
THE MELBOURNE CLUB
At the heart of the Estate lies The Melbourne Club. The restaurant opens its door to the public for special events from Wine Dinners to Jazz Sunday Lunch. With views across the Broadwater Lake to Brocket Hall, The Melbourne Club is the perfect location to enjoy a drink on the terrace followed by lunch or dinner.
I had expected an amuse bouche but in every other respect a good experience.
Would recommend this restaurant - it really was lovely. We were looked after from the minute we arrived and made to feel very special. The food was delicious!
Lovely service, food and setting
A very pleasant way to celebrate a birthday! Can certainly recommend the "Expresso" dessert! which for us was the high spot to a well balanced and beautifully presented meal.
Staff we really friendly and very accommodating. Food was outstanding!!
Great food, extremely well thought out and beautifully presented. Very helpful friendly staff. Lovely views out over the lake to Brockett Hall. Decor could do with a refresh.
We come here about 2/3times a year, it’s a great location, especially in the Summer months. The food is always good and the service excellent. The menu could do with changing more often.
Friendly, professional service and superb food. Set menu is fantastic value for money. All in all, excellent.
very good Valentines dinner, thanks
Fantastic evening - great food, excellent service and very relaxed ambience, thank you - looking forward to our next visit!
A wonderful relaxing lunch with perfect service and food
Almost perfect. Not sure why it didn't quite have the Wow factor of previous visits? Food was just 99% instead of usual 100% . Still great
It was not a good experience at all Limited menu to say the least Restaurant cold to the point of being uncomfortable Drinks extortionate in price Service shabby - staff struggled with the basics Not greeted on arrival Had to take off our own coats Drinks pre lunch took an age to be presented as no one came to see us etc etc If you are going to charge premium prices then the standards need to be premium also and they were not
Exceptional service lovely staff thanks for another great experience
Your restaurant could be great - but it falls short in a number of areas. Front of house staff - faultless. Setting - faultless. Food - unimaginative for vegetarians. Only one option when a high proportion of that UK population is now vegetarian or vegan disappointing. We were with you on Sunday to experience the roast menu - no roast option at all for vegetarians. And no option at all for a vegetarian child. She could only have the duck egg on quinoa which is not what anybody wants when the table is having a roast! The ambience of the restaurant is somewhat dated. So it is unclear who your target market is. On Sunday’s for example - there is a market in the area for a high price point Sunday roast for the family. But the menu has to be family friendly. In the week / on Saturdays the tasting menu is good - just not exceptional for the price and the ambience again is a little overly formal / stuffy to attract a wider clientele. We usually head into London to dine for this reason. The setting is stunning. This could easily be the areas destination restaurant of choice. But a clear strategy is needed with regard to who you are trying to attract and the ambience of the restaurant and menu reflecting that.
Very pleasant experiance
Tasting menu was not put together well and not worth the money at all
We enjoyed coming back to the Auberge du Lac. The food was wonderful especially the beef which was cooked perfectly. The service was friendly and engaging. The open fire for a pre-drink was wonderful. The dinning room was a little chilly and could have been a bit warmer! We will look forward to a return in the summer when we can enjoy drinks outside by the lake.
Staff were so welcoming to us and our 6 year old daughter and really made the lunch a lovely occasion and one that she will always remember! Food was delicious and service exceptional. Thank you
Very nice greeting and all staff pleasant. Food satisfactory but disappointed that a restaurant of this quality had no cheese to offer my husband who prefers cheese to a sweet dessert. The excuse given for not having any cheese to offer (which was the third option for the dessert course) was that the 9 am delivery hadn’t happened: Surely someone could had visited the nearest supermarket to purchase some. The restaurant looks quite bare. Some smart a Roman blinds would add to a softer atmosphere.
We were not given any amuse bouchée at our Thursday luncheon. Should we have received this?
Will come again
No blue cheese or strong cheese, disappointing
Very friendly staff, delicious food
