We booked the meal for my partner’s birthday. On arrival we were provided with a set menu deal which could be ordered alongside the main menu. A couple of minutes later the waitress came back to advise that only the set menu was available to order, but my partner didn’t want anything from this menu. The waitress was very helpful and checked with the kitchen that salt and chilli chicken could be ordered and this was able to be done. However when this arrived it seemed like this had just been thrown together quickly as there was little taste. We ordered 2 drinks from the cocktail menu but incorrect drinks were brought to the table, from another waitress who was not originally serving us. All in all it was a disappointing meal as we have enjoyed our previous visits, the only real positive was the waitress who was friendly and accommodating. We didn’t take her name but she had pink hair.
I hadn’t been to Fat Buddha for a couple of years but they never fail to impress. Attentive and helpful staff, and the food was great too. Would highly recommend and I’ll definitely be returning.
Great night well worth the visit , neve enjoyed her birthday thanks
Food was great, staff were slow to serve you
Me and my girlfriend were celebrating our anniversary in Fat Buddha because we’ve been to Sunderland Fat Buddha before and it was very nice. But Newcastle Fat Buddha Is the worst service I’ve ever had because 1. We booked a table in advance and when we came in the staff were disagreeing which table to give us. 2 most of the staff just walked around looking unhappy and didn’t even want talk to us about anything. 3 when leaving we I said goodbye and thank you to the staff, as I do everywhere, and just got ignored as they were busy chatting to each other. The whole experience just ruined by ignorant, unhappy staff. I get better service in McDonald’s
We booked online the day before for a party of 7 although only 5 attended on the night. When we arrived we checked in and two of us were shown to the table while the others waited outside. Despite alleging to have our booking the same waiter came back and asked if the two of us were ready to order. We explained that our friends were outside and that we would be waiting for them. He told us just to catch him when we were ready. The others joined and we were soon ready to order. We were in the booth near the kitchen and so there was a steady stream of waiting staff going past. Despite seeing a table looking ready and lots of empty glasses they continued to walk past. One of our party got up to ask if we could order at the bar while she got more drinks. During this time our original waiter came over and took our order. This was approximately one hour after we arrived. Upon our friends return she explained she had been told at the bar by the manager that they were not serving food tonight as they had an event on which booked out the restaurant. We explained someone had just taken our order. We then proceeded to spend the next 10 minutes waiting for someone to come and tell us we had waited an hour for nothing. Thankfully this didn't happen and our food arrived. Two had the hoisin duck pizzas and very much enjoyed them. Others had the Mac and cheese burger which lacked flavour, the other had the Beast and noted the same about the Mac and cheese. The final member of our party had the katsu chicken burger and said that lacked flavour also. The waiter had misunderstood our request to change our fries to either loaded or triple cooked chips and so they came as sides. We did not raise this as an issue with the bill as we did not see there would be much difference in price. The triple cooked chips must have some kind of vinegar powder or something on as after a while it began to burn my tongue. There was no salt available on the table. After we had finished eating the event was beginning. One of the other waiters cleared the table and apologised that he had not realised earlier that we were looking to order food. We then waited a further hour before approaching the bar to see how we pay our bill. When I asked at the bar I was told "that will be £67" and presented with the card machine. No itemised bill, or bill of any kind just the amount verbally. I refused to pay and requested a copy of our bill. The bar man agreed to bring this over although he appeared stressed and as though I was an inconvenience. He did shortly after and said he would return with the card machine. After a few minutes of waiting our original waiter told us we could just pay at the bar so we did. Whilst I appreciate they were very busy with an event, we as a party felt that we were an inconvenience. If they had intended to book the restaurant out they should have contacted me via the booking to rearrange. Overall some enjoyed the food and the Swiss sling cocktail however we will not rush to return.
Excellent food and friendly staff definitely be back
Food is very nice but the restaurant is always so quiet now. The staff never look like they want to be there and just chat amongst themselves most of the time like they’re on a break.
Place was empty, table had not been cleaned properly, certain items not available on menu.
Ordered 2 bottles of wine. One of the wines that turned up was not what was ordered. No wine glasses on the table. Then when glasses did come they were wet, we had to dry them with our napkins. Waitress did not speak much English. Issue with card machine not connecting, no void receipt could be given so we asked to see the manager. Supervisor was extremely rude, muttering under her breathe, rude expression and unapologetic. Would not return.
Services was really slow, took 45min for our starter then another 45min for our main to arrive then 30min for our bill.
The food was not up to it’s usual standard. The rice looked like it had come out a packet and was cold. After visiting regularly I will not be returning
Great place and food service was on the slow side but staff were lovely
We ate at Fat Buddha and had a mixed experience. The food was tasty and was reasonably priced. Unfortunately, since moving the Fat Buddha operation to upstairs only, the ambiance is not what it was. The service was poor with some rather surly wait staff. The table was not even clean upon sitting down. I doubt we'll be back. Will probably head to China Town next time!
Our main course had to be returned because staff had forgot to bring our starter. An honest mistake, but when our main course was served again, the food was tough and could definitely tell it had either been kept warm the whole time or reheated. All in all, we waited over an hour for our food after ordering.
Fabulous food - lovely staff. Only in Newcastle on a short visit but would definitely go again If I get the chance
A very disappointing visit with poor customer service. The restaurant was very quiet, their were 2 other tables dining which had 2 diners each. The young girl on the bar had un brushed hair scrapped up into a messy ponytail & dirty clothes on, service was painfully slow. Drinks came in dirty glasses which we requested to have taken away, only one was taken off the bill, water jug, glasses, cutlery & side plates had water marks & dirt on them, the place was dusty in general, whilst waiting for food, their was a lot of smoke, we asked for the extraction to be switched on as myself & another diner were coughing, this was met with tutting & a reply of 'well it's always like that' food came, it was mediocre at best, warmed up Sui Mai you buy at the Chinese supermarket frozen that had gone dry around the edges, Mains came, honey chilli chicken was bland & watery, my curry was bland, cold inedible & the rice was warmed up as if microwaved. We complained but the girl was not interested. We left with a sour taste in our mouths. Very disappointing.
I had a wonderful night with my husband and friends and received excellent service and high quality food. A fabulous atmosphere and a huge variety of dishes to cboose from.
Food excellent, staff very friendly and efficient only complaint did seem to take awhile for food & drinks to arrive.Perhaps more staff needed
This place has really gone down hill made better curries myself food very bland and chicken dry as sticks. Think they forgot to add alcohol in the cocktails too, won't be returning.
Food was lovely but wasn’t very busy for a Friday night. Had made reservation and received confirmation by email but they said they had no record of it.
Sat in a booth near the back which was nice, but seemed to be a utility room/staff area right next to us so it wasn’t really relaxing as staff were rushing past non stop. When food came we got no cutlery, napkins, offered no sauces, salt, pepper ect. All our table had on it were 3 plates that were there to start and weren’t removed when we sat down or ordered for some reason.
Great afternoon using the restaurants 2 course offer, great food.
