Scran was lethal. Music was mint. Staff were class. Been served by the little lass with purpley silvery hair twice now (one in fat Buddha one in antler) and she's class. Good crack and great service. Definitely coming back. Thanks a lot antler and staff.
Lovely place love going, the service was really really slow, considering that wasn’t anyone in there. And waited ten minutes for just two soft drinks. The price is so good for what you get a so nice in side. But the service was a little awkward, like the girl who served me and my boyfriend look like somone had just spat in her cornflakes.... made the service a bit uncomfortable. Still would come back just not to be served by the one girl and hopefully not wait ages to just get to soft drinks....
Atmosphere was dull, we did go on a Sunday, however when we called to say we would be a little late for our 8pm reservation we were told that’s fine as they had “some” space. When we arrived, the restaurant was EMPTY! The food tasted like it had been warmed in the microwave and wasn’t very flavourful. We travelled 4 hour to Newcastle for a long weekend with fat Buddha in mind for a celebratory meal. I wouldn’t definitely not recommended in future
Good atmosphere and we were given a lovely booth however the night was let down by disorganised service due to multiple servers, food was late and no rose’ wine. The food was lovely we had the sharing dishes. However we did not understand why we were unable to take the left over wine home we had bough with our meal and did not appericate being chased by a female member of staff asking for less than half of wine back. Fair to say we won’t be rushing back any time soon,
Had wowcher voucher absolute bargain, food was amazing would defo go back
I visited with my friend and we both ordered the Mac and Cheese burger! My only criticism would be that the burger was only like warm so had to eat it quickly! This aside the cocktails were amazing and so were the chips! I would definitely return!
As we had a voucher value for money was good. We had to sit in the Antler bar as the heating in the Fat Buddha restaurant was in trouble. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was quite tasty but not as good as we’ve had previously at Fat Buddha Durham.
Food was not great and I had wait 20 minutes to get glass of water.
Nice food, could do with more offers.
We came with a wowcher so value for money was dealt good but don't think it would be worth full price. Menu promised brioche burger bun and it was ordinary bun. Service was none existent. Came in sat down. 10 minutes later still sitting so we got up and went to bar. Ordered food we were 2 people and at time there was 2 other people. 35 minutes later our burgers arrived. As I say food was nice but service really let's place down.
We went due to receiving a voucher as a gift. When we arrived a couple in front of us walked out very unsatisfied telling us not to go. We were seated and explained it was a voucher. Our cocktails came and I enjoyed mine but my husbands was undrinkable. After waiting 45mins with nobody taking our order, we had to approach staff and ask for this to be taken. I ordered the same cocktail and this came being undrinkable and nothing like the first one I ordered, so I left it. The food was very nice and tasty. When the bill came the voucher wasn’t taken off and we had to query it till eventually it was taken off. Although the food was lovely, the drinks were not and the service was poor. We unfortunately wouldn’t recommend due to our experience.
Absolutely lush place! Me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed it! Amazing food and drinks offers.. pornstar martini was gorgeous!! Only thing was that it was quite empty so hopefully as more people discover how lovely it is it will attract more people!
Service was slow due to the team being short staffed and a new system (they advised). Was a lot of noise from downstairs due to a band playing so spolied the atmosphere upstairs. Was confused by the small plates for eating on. Husbands curry was dry. I had 3 pieces of asparagus and steak. Had ask for cutlery. Overall really disappointed at what used to be one of our favourite restaurants. Don't think will be visiting again.
The food was the only okay thing about the meal, and even then it was average at best. The service was our main problem, the waiter and waitress spent more time talking to each other rather than taking care of the few customers there was in the place. And then they had the cheek to automatically add on the OPTIONAL tip which in my eyes was not even close to worthy. It was also very cold in the restaurant, me and my girlfriend had to keep our jackets on for most of the night. I will not judge the atmosphere of the restaurant as we went on a Wednesday night and that (I hope) was the reason that the place was almost empty. overall, a terrible meal and a waste of money and a night on holiday in Newcastle. Will not be recommending or returning.
This was the most disappointing night out I have ever had. The service was the main issue: Did not get first drinks until after we had finished starter even though I asked for them twice and when they did come they were wrong, didn't clear starter plates away until main came, waited an hour for the main, didn't leave correct cutlery, no napkins and the bill was wrong. I asked numerous staff the sort the issues throughout the night and not once was the issues acknowledged or dealt with effectively. Everyone around me seemed to be having the same problems too. The food was ok but didn't make up for the frustrating experience. My advice to anyone thinking of going is: "Don't risk it"!
I was quite disappointed with our experience at the fat Buddha since it’s been taken over. When we arrived we were told their was a delay in tables. We waited about 45mins for a table I had already made a reservation for. Then when we were seated our drinks order was not taken for ages, and after placing our drinks order we waited longer than 20 mins to get our drinks. Our starter did not come and when the main course came I explained to the waiter that we were still waiting for our starter, which he then brought out at the same time as the mains. My main was cold and the food was very average. I then paid the service charge which I didn’t realise until after I had paid the bill and I didn’t think the food or the service was worth paying that tip for. It’s put my off ever coming back. The girl serving us explained the restaurant was very short staffed however that shouldn’t reflect on the customers experience.
Shocking, food ok, chips under cooked. Booked a table for 8pm on saturday 16th waited 50mins to bw seated then another 30mins for someone to takw our order!
Awful and unorganised bland food and nowhere near what we expected! Staff did not communicate with one another wrong orders came to our table a number of times waited ages for a drink
Table was at 8:30pm for 2 in the Fat Buddha and restaurant wasn't packed. Took 20 minutes for them to take our drink order. 9pm our starters came. Nobody came back over to us to see if we wanted more drinks etc. I had to usher someone over at 9:50pm to ask where our mains were. There was at least 4 tables that had the same problem. One table even left without eating. Service was shocking. Asked to speak to the manager and although he came over to others he never came to us. One lady member of staff was lovely, very polite and kept trying to make our night better and offered us a free drink. When our mains finally arrived one of them was only warm and sloppy. No taste at all and the egg fried rice was dark brown and tasted burnt. Would never go back.
Restaurant was a little quite as we had went quite early but still had a nice atmosphere, the lady serving us was lovely and just seemed really kind!
Me and my boyfriend went for Valentine’s Day and the food was very nice. The starter we had ordered had run out but the waitresss was extremely helpful in reccomending the best dishes and was very very warm. waiters and waitresses took photos and served with a smile, highly recommend if you’re lookinf for good service and nice food. They were also extremely helpful with allergern information and I trusted very much that they take care with allergies or intolerances.
very nice food, atmosphere and service. we enjoyed our meal very much 😊
I have been here several times before . This time - the place was actually cold ( I had to keep my jacket on ) - food was as great as usual - I fact the food has to be applauded ! service .. they tried very hard but they were under pressure and it wasn’t like it used to be . The general ambience wasn’t the same and the background music not quite right I think . Not sure I would now return .
I had reserved for dat Buddha . They told me that the booking was only for the antler when I got to the fat Buddha Luckily we got a table . That is a bit confusing and inconvenient .
Wow food was beautiful have already recommended to all my friends ... large eating area and was a quiet evening so not a lot of atmosphere but still enjoyed none the less ... staff where amazing ... quite cold didn’t remove my coat ... very clean ... satay Chicken was the best I’ve ever had ...
