We came for our Christmas meal on the 11th December and it was really good! We were disappointed at first that there was a formal on and it was really loud but Nick moved us to a quieter booth and was very accommodating! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definitely return again! The karaoke booth is also excellent! Thank you!
Thought I'd booked antler but when we got there there was a private party on. Turns out the website just reverts to fat Buddah if antler is fully booked. This wasn't made obvious on the emails. I was very disappointed. Free bottle of prosecco helped but i wouldn't have chosen Chinese food for my birthday.... Although the food was nice
Visited for a family meal as my son was joining the navy the next day. Excellent service, staff were amazing, friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return again, food delicious and restaurant a 10/10 by the whole family
I complained about food and service awaiting my response as no one has been in touch.
Ordered duck Samoa’s to start and hio sin sauce was like water Honey chilli chicken was over cooked and chips looked like had been reheated off day before Normally my favourite place but very disappointed this was a treat for my birthday
Lovely venue, good food
The food took hours to arrive. Waiters were very helpful but let down by kitchen.
I would of liked a later reservation but the internet booking stated that there was no later booking slots but the restaurant was quite empty & we could of had a later booking. Saying that we were served fast & the food was lovely, definitely be coming back soon!
I booked a table for Antler on a Saturday evening to find that our table had been given away to someone else upon arrival. The staff member then tried to convince us that we booked a table at Fat Buddha (the Thai restaurant upstairs) which simply wasn't true, I had the email confirmation to prove this. I was then informed that the website was broken and I would have to call up in future to book a table, which didn't help us at the time. It was all very unapologetic and it came off as if they were trying to make us feel in the wrong. If the online booking system isn't working, then simply take it down or let people know this somehow, it's not difficult. Anyways, we were partially glad that this happened as the "restaurant" was full of blokes watching the football on a big projector screen, which didn't make for a good atmosphere. In the end we went up the road to Longhorns. I understand mistakes are made but when the blame is stuck on you it leaves a bad taste in your mouth and so we wont be giving Antler a second chance.
The food was delicious, the portions were well sized. However there was some confusion regarding set menus and the cocktail deals. When we first arrived we asked our server about the weekly cocktail deal. We were told that the cocktails need to be the same cocktails. So we order 4 pornstars, they were lovely. Then we looked at the set menu. £15 for a starter, main and a side. As we ordered a prawn toast, honey chilli chicken and seaweed, we were told the seaweed would be charged as an extra as the rice was the side dish. However the menu said that the honey chilli chicken came with a choice of rice. This meant that there was not benefit to ordering the set menu. When ordering our second round of drinks we have another waitress, who advised the cocktail offer was a mix and match on the first 3 cocktails on the menu and mojitos. Again some of these cocktails made the deal redundant, and cost more in some cases. Although the staff didn’t seem to all have the same information about the set menu’s or deals. They were all friendly and courteous. I would definitely recommend Fat Buddha to any friends visiting Newcastle.
Very disappointed, service was terrible. Waited 20 minutes just for plates to be cleared away, never mind trying to pay!! The food was not good at all. No taste when the dish is supposed to be spicy. Won’t be back
We arrived to the establishment as the only customers, the duck we ordered as a sharing starter was lukewarm and just not what we expected, we then ordered salt and pepper chilli chicken which came out and was rock hard and dry. Was very disappointed with the food as been several times before and never had an issue!
Service and attentiveness from staff was not very good. The food was good for the student discount we had. Not a popular place for sunday
waited 30 minutes for starters and then 40 minutes for mains.
Fantastic food, great service and good value for money. Portion sizes were really good. Will definitely be back in the very near future
Food was excellent, however took a long time for our food and drinks to come.
The service was absolutely disgraceful. We didn't get our first round of drinks until the starters arrived which took about 20-30mins. Asked for another round of drinks once our plates from starters were taken away. Again drinks didn't arrive until we were nearly finished our mains. 3 of us had the honey chicken. The chicken was very tough. The bar and restaurant was not busy for a Saturday evening at 7.30pm. The ladies toilets lighting was awful could barely see in front of you. The actual toilet was broken a long with a tap. We will not be coming again
Have had an amazing experience here once before however for a Friday it was very quiet yet service was slow, our coffee sat on the bar for 20mins before we had to ask for them then asked should I take them off the bill? Surely you don’t need to ask if I wish to pay for cold coffee. They also served y a prawn dish that was not described as spicy that was in fact spicy as hell so for the recipient who isn’t fond of very spicy food couldn’t eat it and had to swap dishes relucantly only to be met with a shrug when staff were told about this claiming they’d just done the menus and it must have been forgotten. Overall a bit of a poor night
Amazing food as always, quite a few things out of stock but didn't ruin our night
Food was delicious Drinks were lovely and on offer which is a bonus!!
Visited this restaurant tonight for the first time after hearing so many good reports about it. Ordered 2 pints of coke, both so flat had no fizz in what so ever and totally tasteless. Spring roll starter was disappointing, luke warm and flavourless. Duck and pancakes (if you’d even call it duck) more the texture of mince like tiny little pieces, fatty, funny taste and wasn’t shredded like you’d usually find in a restaurant like this. Finally I ordered honey chilli chicken for main, sauce was beautiful but the chicken was very over cooked, chewy and asif it had been stood a long time so yet again another course coming out cold. Service wasn’t the best, staff didn’t have a clue what they were doing, asked numerous times for some extra napkins, staff kept walking straight past our plates and seen we’d been finished a while yet chose to ignore us and we had to ask the waitress twice for the bill! Overall very disappointing visit and will not be returning
Food and service excellent, the tables and floor however certainly required attention to cleaning
Appreciated the round of drinks on the house from Molly - the only good thing about the evening. The service was terrible. The food was terrible. If there was an option of a minus stars for the review, that's what we would have hit. We will certainly not be returning.
First time I have been to the premises since Fat Buddha moved upstairs. Table booked but our party of 4 were the only ones in. Only one waitress serving who tried to offer a table which hadn't been cleared from previous people. Very dark inside and cold, same music played over, not very inviting. Food was ok but sorry, used to love this place but wont be back.
