Table was so sticky that our arms and bags were sticking to it, service really, really slow. Staff were all lovely but maybe not enough working. Waited 25 mins for drinks and had to ask after 20 mins for menus. Table next to us hadvto ask for cutlery after their food came. Service really slow in general, food nice. Disappointed as heard good things!
The food was awful and made 3 of us ill the following morning. The service was slow and poor and it was not how we expected.
Fantastic staff. Food unfortunately quite disappointing.
Tasty food, happy, friendly staff and reasonably priced
Never saw a non alcoholic cocktail menu but that is only being very picky Fantastic service and food!
Excellent food, had from day menu so was amazing value for money. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Newcastle
Menu completely downgraded. Food was dry, everything was oven cooked. Served dirty glasses. Service was shocking. Bar staff in Antler even bad mouthed management and the way it was being run. Asked for a mojito, no mint or rum. It was dead on a bank holiday Sunday and every table was messy and dirty. Been going to Fat Buddha for 5+ years, worst it’s ever been. Won’t be going back.
Food wasn’t nice, was very dry and looked reheated. Me and my partner had to go home poorly within an hour of our meal.
We last visited the fat Buddha in March, before it had joined with the Antler and absolutely loved our experience, however after our most recent trip, we will not be dining with yourselves again. This is due to the refined menu, awful tasting duck pancakes sharer (the texture of the duck was comparable to mashed potato) and atmosphere we experienced. The area was empty, dull and boring. Miss the downstairs bar& seating area along with the once great tasting food :( Sad to say we won’t be making anymore visits.
We booked a table, arrived, told the manager we had a reservation, he sniggered and walked away saying he would be back, never saw him again. We then told another member of staff, they said someone would come over. No one came to find us. We then, around 20mins later saw some people leave so we took that table. Had to go and find a waiter to order food (you’re not allowed to order at the bar) service after that was awful. The food wasn’t tasty and there was plenty for the money, which was good. We never saw the waiter again and sat with plates in front of us after we had finished for about 30 mins until we left. If it wasn’t bank holiday Sunday I would have walked out, but there wasn’t anything else near by we knew we could get food. We never got an apology for the our reservation clearly being missed and the manager clearly couldn’t care less. I wouldn’t recommend unless you don’t mind being ignored and having to get up and down to find staff. I certainly wouldn’t book online as they clearly don’t check them.
first we got 4 heiniken it smelt and tasted awful. second we got fosters that also smelt of rotten fish. rice was really overcooked and then warmed up id say was rock hard. i also had a hair in mine. however the manager was lovely
Not many people for service, however food was really good and portions were huge.
It wasn’t very busy. At all.
We came for the children’s entertainment on Sunday. My daughter loved it and the face painting was also a lovely touch. The food however could be improved. I had the chicken burger which was so dry and tasteless. He chips were over cooked. My daughter enjoyed her pizza and the children’s portions are excellent value for money. We will be back however as the entertainment is brilliant!
Honey Chilli chicken seemed to have changed slightly which was a bit dissapointing but still nice-the main focus on all branding seems to be Antler, which is now overshadowing fat budda, although the Antler Menu is awful so hopefully fat budda will still remain as popular. Service was good and the girls friendly:)
Been twice to fat buddha in the last three months and even though it was quiet on both occasions the service was appalling. Drinks arrived after our food was served which is a big no no in my book. Couldn't get a waitress to get us a spoon to eat our dessert so literally sat there unable to eat it for 10 minutes. Second round of drinks arrived late as well. It really let's the restaurant down.
The food in general was really bad (the fritters starter was the exception), the service started great but then became really poor.
We came as part of restaurant week, first time visiting and we thought restaurant week was in place so customers could get an excellent impression of the restaurant and be encouraged to return but our visit was very disappointing: - ham fritters - advertised leading to believe there would be more than 1 small fritter. Saw another table getting two of the same dish! - ordered a larger shandy didn’t arrive for half an hour and had to remind two members of staff when it did arrive was charged twice for it! - goulash- the food was warm not hot! - chicken snitchel- mushroom sauce (what mushroom sauce?) was only a drizzle - the service in general, no apologies for late service, taking away a drink that wasn’t finished, reaching across the table instead of walking around. - and finally when we asked for the bill it was wrong! Sent it back 3 times and it was still wrong give up in the end Paid and left!
We were so looking forward to the Antler experience and sadly were so disappointed from the beginning. They had no record of our reservation on arrival but we did get sat quickly. We seemed to be constantly waiting, waiting to order drinks, waiting to order food and waiting for the bill. On ordering my first drink I asked for the rhubarb gin and slim line which took 3 attempts as first I was told there was no slim tonic and then came back again to tell me there was none of the gin. One waitress was helpful in recommending some nice cocktails. We constantly had to look out for staff as they were not very attentive. They either were nowhere to be seen, chatting together or in a different area of the restaurant. On arrival my husbands beef goulash was warm at best. My schnitzel arrived without its sauce. In the end we went to the bar for the bill as after waiting ages for someone to ask for the bill, she had then clearly forgotten to bring it and there was no staff in sight apart from the barmen. The excuse of the bar man was that they were expecting a busy day the next day so were sorting out the cutlery...never mind the current customers...or the fact they hadn’t been attentive all night. On asking to speak to the manager we were told no. All in all a pretty disappointing experience.
Eating area right next to noisy bar area playing loud music. Food average but won’t be eating there again and wouldn’t recommend for eating. Might have a drink in the pleasant outside area but nothing more.
Music was too loud and we waited a while for someone to ask for the bill. Other than that it was an alright experience.
Service here absolutely atrocious. Waited an hour and a half between starters and main course, when main course finally arrived after being chased food was incredibly bog standard and looked like it had been thrown together. Will not be making another visit here and will not recommend to others.
Very disappointed, food was not as described on the menu and when staff were told they just laughed
Lush decor. Nowhere obvious to go for table reservation. Rude waitress acting like we were in the way though there was only two of us in the middle of a big open space not blocking anything. Super fast cocktail service and tasty but not worth the money. Stupidly long wait for starters. Singular fritter when menu states fritters. Not worth the wait. Pate okay but not worth the wait. Didn't receive cutlery and got a snotty response that someone was getting it for us as if that was obvious while we sat there with our food in front of us. Cancelled our mains as customers next to us had cold food and didn't want to wait to be disappointed again. Waiter argued with my wife about wait time even though he had came over and apologised for our wait without prompt earlier. First time I've ever left part way through. First time I've ever contemplated doing a runner. I've done the complete opposite of recommending this to my friends, family and colleagues.
