I had a private party booking for 25 people for my 40th Birthday with food and karaoke. Everything was fantastic. The staff were great the food and drinks were good and the DJ was amazing. Would recommend it to anyone.
I had booked into Fat Buddah for Saturday evening as a good friend of mine was visiting. We were very much looking forward to our visit. However when we turned up we were very disappointed to see that the restaurant was closed for refurbishment. This left us in the lurch with no dinner reservation. Why was this not communicated to me beforehand ? Why was I still able to make a reservation during a period of refurbishment ? Why did you email me to get me to confirm my reservation when you knew that refurbishment work was going on? The customer service has been absolutely terrible and I will be inputting a review on trip advisor in the coming days to make others aware of this situation.
Booked a table via online service only to turn up and be informed by the bar staff below that it was closed !! After and email the day before we were set to visit asking us to confirm our reservation ?? Bad system bad service.....and after getting another email to fill in about our visit wow !!!!
Arrived to our reservation then get told that you weren’t taking bookings and we were turned away. You should have contacted us if this was the case before we wasted our time
Not even open, wasted journey!
I did not dine at fat Buddha, as when myself and my mother arrived we were informed the restaurant was closed and we had to sit in a pub with a loud television and no dining service. Not exactly great when it was supposed to be her birthday meal and we travelled all the way from London when I pre booked this over 2 weeks ago. Very disappointed.
We were served by a lovely lady who looked after us very well. she xplained that the salmon was not available, however the Tuna that was offered instead was amazing! Definitely will recommend! Didn't realise husband hadn't given a tip, sorry! He said he had no Change!
Sir/Madam, I booked a table for 7 people for The Fat Bhudda on 8th August 2019 at 8pm for my boyfriend's Birthday. Firstly I want to say that I have been numerous times to The Fat Bhudda and the food has always been amazing! We looked forward to our visit on 8th. So....where do I start? 🤔 We arrived before 8pm, we were asked if we would like to sit in a private room off the main restaurant. We had a look and it was dirty, there was food on the floor and seats. We spoke to the waitress and went back to the bar to wait for our booth as we had requested at the time of booking. We ordered drinks however there was no white rum for a cocktail. Not great but not to worry. We eventually got sat down at 8.25pm. There were no napkins and we had to ask for them. We ordered our food eventually at 8.45pm. There was only a set menu (we thought this was because of restaurant week) however my boyfriend was told he could look at the main menu and they would see what they had. I ordered vegetarian spring rolls to start with, as did another person on our table. I ended up with one vegetarian spring roll, the other was duck. The second person ended up with two duck spring rolls. Good job we arent vegetarians! My boyfriend was told that he couldn't have duck off the main menu as they didn't have any....obviously they did because we had them in our spring rolls! The main meals came out. By this point the waitress had knocked off £5 off everyone's set meal, we also got a free round of drinks for waiting so long and extra sides were promised for the main meals. Although we didnt get them. The main meals arrived and the quantity was diabolical, tiny portions and it tasted bland. The side portions were large to make up for the actual main meal being so small. My boyfriend's dad had a Caterpillar on his lettuce. We called over the waitress and she apologised. She was embarrassed. She informed the chef, I believe he was called Steve, who didnt believe her...he must have thought I just popped a Caterpillar into my pocket to bring along with me!!! By this point everyone put down their knives and forks as we were put off. Both my boyfriend and I have been to The Fat Bhudda for years and the food has always been amazing. We had looked forward to this visit for his birthday. We were extremely disappointed. I said to my boyfriend that I wouldn't be surprised if this restaurant was closing soon like the Durham one. Also the toilets were so dark....I made a joke about the electricity bills not being paid. The waitress informed us that the restaurant was closing next week and was so embarrassed by our extremely poor experience she said that we weren't getting charged for the meal and offered us a free meal when the restaurant re-opens under another name or a free round of drinks at Antler and the use of the karaoke room for free. Aa long as they dont have the same chefs I might do that. We did leave a tip for the poor waitress. She tried her best and I dont think we were the only ones complaining. Only gave 1 star as had no choice. I was extremely disappointed with our visit to Athens Fat Bhudda but what made it worse was that it was my boyfriend's birthday and I wanted it to be memorable in the right way not because of this! You should have just closed at the time of getting rid of your decent chefs and not try to cut corners! I felt sorry for the staff especially Beckie our waitress who had had a terrible day at work. I dont believe we were the first to complain. Staff could not be bothered and appeared deflated
Great food and lovely staff!
We were not impressed with the food or service. The waiter took our orders and wrote them down, yet came back to our table a total of 3 times to ask what we wanted for starters. Once maybe would be understandable but if it was written down, why the need to check 3 times? When our mains arrived, my side of salt and chilli chips did not come despite everyone else’s side dishes being brought over. I informed a waitress of this and she said they’d be 2 minutes bringing them over. A further 10 minutes passed and I still did not have my side of chips - I asked another waiter who said they would not be long and apologised. He did bring them out quickly then, but when everyone else has their sides and I did not, it’s unacceptable. We had to ask for the bill twice as the first time it was not brought over so 20 minutes later we asked again. After this, it took around another 20 minutes for someone to come over to ask if we needed a card machine, despite us attempting to get a waiter/waitresses attention several times. I am aware it was restaurant week and the place is usually busy, yet it did appear there were more than enough staff for the amount of tables eating there. In addition, the food was bland and tasteless. Having been before and ordered the same dish of Honey Chilli Chicken which I’ve always enjoyed, I was completely disappointed as were the rest of the party. I don’t know if this was due to restaurant week but the only slightly positive of this was the value for money. Overall, a disappointing meal and service.
Stood at the bar for over half an hour, no one came to serve us or to show us to our booked table. Bar wasn’t particularly busy either.
Pretty below average
Expectations were not met
Visited on restaurant week for daughters birthday and I was disappointed indeed with all meals, whilst the service was great by the waitress I think at some points over friendly to possibly compensate for the value of food and quality of meal. The offer was 2 courses on the evening for £15 the starters were shocking 4 small king prawns more like shrimp with salt chilli and some lettuce leaves, 4 small prawn toasts with a little bit of salad chewy and plain in taste, only good thing was my daughters spring rolls reasonable size and apparently nice Now the mains honey chilli chicken no I am a whimper for chilli and usually this meal on previous visits packs a nice heat with the sweet honey and plenty of chicken (even on daytime menu) what we got was a bowl of sweet soup and some very dry crispy bits of chicken and a bath of honey rice when we added the meal together. I decided to check what you would pay on an being for this sort of meal ...well I was shocked to see that this meal would have been £13.90 per person and not near the £15 they were charging for restaurant week I thought the idea in this week was places putting on cracking discounts and meal offers obviously not, when bringing this to the attention of the person taking the bill he wasn't aware of this apparently and said he had only been there 5 days, and he would only take the price of the meals not the additional 10% service charge aswell... I wont be back after ripping off customers.
Will not be returning, had nothing left on the menu we were wanting even tho it wasn’t busy, the food we did receive was very poor I couldn’t even find the egg in the fried rice!
Booked Fat Buddha for restaurant week, never been before and wanted to try somewhere new, have always used to hear good things. There were only 2 other tables of people, but it was a Monday i suppose despite it being restaurant week. We were told the kitchen shut in 30 minutes so had to place our order quickly - we made a table booking online, why allow a food table booking for that time if the kitchen shuts so shortly after?! There were time slots up until 21:00 so i don’t understand how a restaurant can book people in for food when the kitchen seemingly shuts at that time! We were left with a drinks menu, when someone finally came for us to order drinks, we were told that at least half of the drinks on the menu were not able to be made due to no ingredients! Why put a menu on a table where a majority of drinks cannot be made. And we should of been told this as soon as we sat down, not after we picked drinks that were not in fact available. We were then told that one of the main meal options were not available because of “no ingredients”, there were only 4 options to start with and the fact that on the first day of restaurant week that they do not have things for an option they selected on the menu just shows how unprepared and unorganised this place is. If i was paying off the normal menu and this had happened with lack of ingredients for food and drink i would be very annoyed and would of left to go elsewhere. Very disappointed with the whole experience and will not be returning
The only reason this is decent value for money is because we used a £24 wowcher code otherwise the bill would have been £62 and I’m sorry but it was shocking. Service and food was really really poor.
absolutely awful food
Only had few options to choose from,as the sat was ladies day no prawns no crackers ,and no pork so a little bit disappointed only chicken to choose from
Service was slow, asked twice what we were waiting for after waiting 20 minutes to be served. Music was bouncing through the floor so hard to hear when talking but other than that, lovely food and good value
Great food, service and excellent value for money! Will definitely be returning soon 😀
Was very quiet time of day so no real atmosphere but very pleasant experience and lovely staff
Food was amazing. Service was horrific.
Was recommended to come here for our anniversary and was very disappointed. Bearing in mind there was around 15 people in the restaurant, we waited 5 minutes before we had to ask the waiter to show us to our table, it took 15 minutes to receive our drinks after they went to the wrong table. We asked the bartender (who was also the manager) who brought the drinks over if we could order food, to which we were told to wait for the waiter - this took an additional 10 minutes. They didn't have 2 of the starters we ordered, and the ones we ordered were average and very small portions. An hour and a half after we arrived, we got our main meals. They were extremely poor, felt like a very standard ready meal. The manager was rude to the waiter who was clearly new and disregarded all the customers who were asking him questions.
Service was unbelievably slow and as the restaurant was almost empty there was no atmosphere. I’m so disappointed as I used to love this place when they had downstairs too, the old full menu with the delicious food and cocktail options and it was so busy it was hard to get booked in. I don’t know what happened but fat Buddha is ruined. Antler is boring and does not appeal. I wouldn’t bother visiting again.
