Description brought to you by Manchester Confidential:
Upscale modern British pub dining
Chrome and snakeskin are keynotes in upmarket 1990s surrounds but a real sense of occasion prevails. There’s a six-course tasting menu which could include a la carte choices like golden beetroot ‘carpaccio’, tempura cauliflower and whipped feta plus fruity mains like Goosnargh duck breast with damsons, caramelised apples and radish. Fish is another strength, think butter roast hake fillet with caramelised fennel and Pernod cream. Sumptuously presented puds could include blackberry, pear and pistachio trifle with cassis sorbet or a roast fig frangipane tart with ginger ice cream. Look out for boutique Spanish bottles at this local star.
