About The Anchor Line Bar and Grill
The Anchor Line showcases the best of Scottish produce with influences from both sides of the Atlantic. Think fresh oysters, lobster and scallops, the finest scotch beef, ribs and burgers to die for.
There is an extensive cocktail list with classics lying alongside some of our own signature twists, and a drinks list with a strong whisky, bourbon and gin influence. We offer New York and Glasgow craft beers, and a wine list incorporating some of the finest that America and the rest of the world has to offer.
We are open for lunch and dinner, and with fantastic private dining facilities we combine a casual and welcoming dining environment with first class service and produce.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of the completely restored grade A1 listed Anchor Line building on St Vincent Place, The Anchor Line showcases the best of Scottish produce with influences from both sides of the Atlantic.
Service was slow particularly on arrival. Long wait before being offered a drink. Also for bill. General lack of real hospitality in the service. Very functional.
A special thanks to the staff who were extremely accommodating. We had a few minor requests for a special day (type/location of table) and, when I asked to put some fix in the cooler, the lady suggested that the bottle could be waiting at the table upon arrival. How practical!
Had to order a drink 3 times before receiving it. Everything else was incredible.
We enjoyed a delicious 3 course Sunday Lunch. Great menu choice and portions!
went with friends on a Saturday night, busy city centre bar & restaurant, bar staff were great, we were seated on time the waiting staff were very attentive just right tho not over the top you were never looking to find someone to order great staff a total credit....the food just topped it all off - what a superb place....we will return..
We had a steak to share but our sides were cold like they had been sat ready for a while before our steaks were ready
Had a great time and lovely food, but the waiter was a bit annoying - kept wanting to clear plates and glasses before we had finished, and hovered nearby waiting to pounce. It was a bit off-putting!
Excellent breakfast. Lovely restaurant , beautiful surroundings. Staff are lovely, very attentive :& food was perfect. Thank you
Although could not fault the food or service, it would have been nice to have been told when booking that we would be sitting in the overflow to the main restaurant. We were entertaining a cousin from London who would have been interested in the historical memorabilia on the walls in the restaurant.
The steak i had was great but the sauce was too strong and a bit too hot for my preference. The side order of onion rings were also slightly disappointing as they were very thick which resulted in them being almost raw. The batter was also somewhat greasy. The rest of the food was good however and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of bread in our starter
Lovely food and good service
Great night out with my family to celebrate a birthday. Not one negative comment. Very well done as I am a stickler for detail. Thanks
Excellent, first class
I don't usually respond to surveys .. it's a generation thing. My old friends, sorry longstanding friends, and I had an excellent lunch on Thursday 11th October. We were well looked after with care, excellent food and drink. My only criticism is that, at times, you may have been a bit over-attentive, if you can call that a criticism.
Great ambience, staff were very friendly, courteous and efficient. Staff were chatty and funny and could not do enough to make the experience really nice and relaxing.
Great meal the staff were excellent. we will definitely come back
the food excellent , the staff excellent, the service excellent, can't ask for anymore
Staff were very polite, helpful and very friendly. We had sirloin steak which was perfectly cooked and was very tasty. My other half had Guinness and I was so pleased to see Brew Dog Nanny state in the drinks menu (I get fed up with coke or water as a choice). Definitely going back.
The food, atmosphere and staff were lovely. My only criticism would be that the duck liver parfait was rather tasteless and could definitely do with more seasoning and flavour.
Fabulous restaurant. Great atmosphere with the loveliest of staff. Great new Italian waiter (didn’t catch his name) he was only on his second shift but so lovely and warm. Everyone was. Food was delicious and nothing was a problem. Highly recommend! Thank you for a special evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Anchor Line on Saturday, 6th October 2018. We had requested a particular table and this was assigned to us. The staff were friendly and attentive.
The service was excellent. The food delicious. We had a wonderful time.
