Our ‘Trust the Chef’ experience, made up of multiple smaller courses is the perfect way to take a leap of faith. It has been Amisfield’s signature menu since the Bistro opened in 2005.

Food and presentation were divine. I especially loved the way the you used lots of natural elements to showcase off the dishes.The staff were very knowledgeable and patient with our large group. I look forward to returning here.
Generally very salty dishes however muttonbird was particular salty. Crayfish and abalone pie was delicious and the highlight of the evening.

Great experience. After having so much wine (did the tasting with each course), I liked it even more! I was concerned that I may still be hungry, as some of the courses are literally bite-sized, but I came out feeling full and satisfied. Great as a one-off experience, but I prefer to see more food on the plate and less stones....

We found the staff to be very professional the food was fantastic. We had the 5 course degustation menu which ended up being eight courses. We would definitely recommend Amisfield to anybody who enjoys great food.

Recently had our wedding at Amisfield and we were well looked after. Food and wines were excellent and our guests rated the food as some of the best they have had!

We visited Amisfield on the recommendation of others. We were the first people to arrive and be seated inside the restaurant at 12pm and after ordering drinks elected to have the 5 course menu. 1.5hrs passed and we had still only received 1 of our 5 courses, whilst couples who had arrived much later than us were already on their 2nd or 3rd courses. It was extremely disappointing and it ruined the experience for us. We were hungry, we felt stupid sitting and watching everyone else have their food served in a timely manner whilst we sat shoved in the corner of the restaurant, and it was our day in NZ which we felt had been wasted on a pretentious experience. We did let our waitress know and she herself stated “I did notice your food was delayed”, but hadn’t done anything about it. Our subsequent courses came out swiftly but the experience had already let us down and everything had too much salt. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. I feel as though it is somewhere people go to be seen. Thank goodness we didn’t do the wine pairing or we would have been there for 2 days.
We had the most amazing time at Amisfield. It is probably the best dining experience we’ve had so far. The winery itself is beautiful and the wines were delicious. The “trust your chef” menu was phenomenal. We couldn’t fault any of the dishes! Staff were also great which made the experience much more delightful. I would highly recommend this as a MUST TRY to anyone visiting Queenstown!
Fantastic meal. Superb. The final 2 minor dessert items took a fair while to come out. That's the only thing that could have improved. Almost flawless. Have already recommended it to people.
By far the best dining experience we had in NZ. Botswana Butchery and Rata are a distant second and third to this delicious and innovative tasting. We are from Chicago, home of Alinea and other Michelin 3 Star restaurants and our meal was as good, if not better than many other tastings we have ever experienced. Wine pairings we also spot on. Overall dinner and wine pairings are a steal for the high level of food and wine included.
Ok can I say something loud...….Its the world's best meal....never had these dishes before...…….of course I know you use local seasonal ingredients but lots of people say that, you though have not just done it you have taken it to a very good extreme...….never knew New Zealand had unagi or eel fish, never knew palate cleanser could be so cool and good...……..chef whoever you are please stay true to your craft you are a credit to your profession
