In 1988, Amisfield Vineyard was formed around a simple philosophy: to nurture nature at every step. Nestled within the harsh yet beautiful surrounds of Central Otago, New Zealand, we prefer to let nature and the talents of our skilled team do the work.
The privately owned 200 hectare estate, once a prominent high country merino station, is now one of the largest single vineyard estates in the Central Otago region. With over 80 hectares planted beneath the Pisa mountain range, the Amisfield experience extends to a world-class Bistro and Cellar Door at Lake Hayes, Queenstown. Here, guests can experience the array of wines we produce every year.
Opened in 2005, the Bistro offers our signature ‘Trust the Chef’ menu – our famous dining experience.
Our philosophy of pure wine matched with pure food showcases the best New Zealand produce from farmers and producers who share our passion, You can take comfort in knowing everything on your plate has been sourced sustainably.
We call it ‘The best of nature to savour’ and it’s easy to see why. The food is an elegant expression of seasonal ingredients, creating the ultimate complement to our wines.
Delicious food in a lovely environment! Highly recommend
A very enjoyable experience.
Lovely setting, the food was delicious and the wine matches were perfect. That’s one trustworthy chef!
This was easily our greatest dining experience during our month-long trip around New Zealand and one of our greatest dining experiences ever! Unique and local ingredients and dishes, served by warm and friendly staff in a relaxed and charming space. Thank you all for a wonderful night!
Absolutely amazing food and staff. Loved it!!!!!
friendly, professional service and lovely food . Certainly well worth a visit when in Queenstown.
Absolutely Fabulous. A taste and visual sensation. Queenstown's No. 1 restaurant for sure. The 2014 Pinot Noir was like drinking velvet.
We had 3 dietary requirements in our group of 8 (all different) and they were catered to perfectly! Fantastic food, wine and service!
The dinning environment is not as good as expected. Others are all excellent!
Beautiful setting and a very nice lunch. Atmosphere would have been 5 star if it wasn't so noisy - after lunch we realised it would have been way nicer to eat outside. Food was good and nice and fresh out the garden but for the price you pay for it, I expected to be at the level of leading Wellington restaurants such as Hippopotamus and it didn't quite hit the mark. The same with the service. Simple things like having the cutlery more organised, putting the napkin on the customers lap would have made it feel 5 star. I can't help but feel Amisfield just rolls in the tourists for a "fancy" meal which is marketed as top class, I think there's room for improvement. Maybe if there was a bit more competition in the area or the chef's / restaurateurs checked out other leading NZ restaurants, they could bring back ideas to make the Amisfield experience really 5 star top class.
We came here to celebrate a friend's 50th. The evening started by the waitress spilling 3 glasses of bubbles over us and the table and smashing on the floor. There was often a mix up/confusion among waiters as to the dietary requirements. There was way too much wine poured (we did the wine match). At times we had 3 glasses of wine stacked up. Could have done with half the amount. Definitely left feeling way to full both on wine and food rather than a feeling of great satisfaction. We have dined here a number of times but definitely felt like the service had dropped. We had 4 or 5 different waiters- most who were foreign and we couldn't understand their description of the wines or dishes. A real shame given the cost.
The last two questions are shown in wrong way,I can't answer them sorry.
Atmosphere and food amazing.
Portions too small for a 3 course meal. Eg A salad course should take up the size of a plate, not 1/4 of a cup. We informed of vegan eating in our reservations 3 weeks ago yet pasta cake out with cheese on it for my child and butter with supermarket gluten free bread.
A truly pleasurable all round experience
The staff were excellent. They really contributed to our positive experience. We also loved the feature of local ingredients and the explanations provided by the staff. We would definitely come again and would recommend the winery and restaurant to friends.
The Amisfield team were the most amazing hosts for our work function dinner last week. The food was impeccable and the super friendly staff made the night enjoyable for all. Thanks again to Daniel + co.
Tremendous food and exemplary service. Had the 3 courses with matching wines and certainly in our top 10 meals ever. Well done guys !!
Beautiful food and matching wines were great. Excellent service from all the staff.
We loved the evening we had here, the food is amazing!! Trust the chef is the way to go!! The view from our table was just stunning. We will be back.
Amazing. Food and wine was next to none, service was incredible, you must go here you will not be disappointed.
Every aspect was superb.
Wonderful food experience. The chef has structured the meal perfectly to immerse you in the craft, quality and diversity of the region. The bite sized starter courses act as a summarised bulletpoint presentation of everything the chef is capable of doing and how understanding opposing flavour combinations and cooking techniques can produce a taste symphony. The smoked octopus, venison, hare and blackberry leather leaf, snapper, bread and butter... and so on. Just fantastic. The following 6 courses were exquisite, beautifully balanced flavours and art-like presentation that was there to enhance flavours and not just look good. Honestly some of the best food I have eaten.
We had an excellent long lunch and Holly gave us 10/10 service. Thanks guys.
Beautiful food. Lovely wine and great atmosphere. Thank you.
