At Amisfield, whether you’re a seasoned local or from halfway around the globe, we pride ourselves on taking guests out of their culinary comfort zone. There’s an element of surprise in everything we bring to the table.
Our ‘Trust the Chef’ experience, made up of multiple smaller courses with some designed for sharing is the perfect way to take a leap of faith. It has been Amisfield’s signature menu since the Bistro opened in 2005.
Had a wonderful afternoon at Amisfield. Thanks you 😀
An excellent experience with Trust the Chef Tasting new flavors and food not usually served at a restaurant. But also the wait staff made sure you enjoyed the dish , or they could make small changes to suit your tastes The Non Alcoholic Drinks were explosions of flavors in your mouth. The Atmosphere was so relaxing and our 4 hour stay was the best way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We highly recommend a visit to Amisfield Bistro to experience a theatre of food.
I couldn't fault anything about the trust the chef 5 course lunch we had. The staff were friendly, attentive without being annoying and the food and ambiance was just incredible. We had such a great time. Thank you, we'll be back!!
It was all amazing! :)
Amazing place to visit, incredible views, food and wine.
Whilst the food, drinks and table service were memorable and exceeded expectation, the overall experience was marred by the attitude and demeanour of the Restaurant Manager - I believe his name is David? Upon arrival (a surprise for my 50th Birthday) we were made to wait like scolded children until he deigned to glance up from whatever it was he was doing. He looked us up and down with disdain and then returned to his computer screen before offering us a perfunctory "can I help you?" with an attitude that suggested it was actually beneath him to help us. He reluctantly confirmed our reservation and with an effort and a sigh indicated that we were to follow him. He sat us down and mumbled something about still or sparkling and fortunately left us alone. The rest of the staff were wonderful and Kevin the Frenchman especially warm, engaging and attentive. The food was delightful, interesting and innovative and we had a wonderful afternoon. Speaking with other patrons, it seemed there were similar experiences with the Restaurant Manager which really put a damper on the whole proceedings. It seems this attitude is also mirrored in the tasting room where we were treated as undesirables until they realised we were going to purchase whereupon they couldn't have been more obliging. David reappeared upon our departure and was all sycophantic charm and well wishing like we were old friends. It made his initial greeting all the more jarring. Can I recommend the food and drink offering? Absolutely! Can I recommend the individual waitstaff? Certainly! Can I recommend the overall experience? Not whilst the individual leading the team shows such poor hospitality. This was a once in a lifetime for us - as it probably is for many people. It's a shame it was spoilt by one individual.
To the beautiful staff at our favorite winery, Amisfield. The scene of our engagement 3 years ago and post-wedding lunch, again your menu was incredible, wine exclusive and your staff’s attention to detail precise and knowledgeable. It was a pleasant surprise to find our case of Pinot Noir on our doorstep upon our home arrival. This is another great example of your efficient customer service we experience every year we visit. This is one of the main reasons why we wanted to promote Amisfield to our friends and family, we are and will be your forever returning customers.
Our dining experience didn’t feel personalised at all, rather part of a production line which allowed you very little choice other than the trust the chef menu. The food was very unique, including dishes such as raw venison making it difficult to enjoy. There was very little interaction with the waiting staff & it would be unlikely that I would recommend dining at Amisfield to anyone in the future.
Wine matching was all delicious. I was very relieved that there was fluent Japanese staff.
I've lunched at Amisfield several times and it's been wonderful every time. The staff are friendly but unobtrusive, the food is delicious (and various preferences catered for with enthusiasm), and the location and views are beautiful. The overall vibe is one of relaxed comfort. It's always a memorable couple of hours, and not expensive for what you get. I think of it as an experience rather than just a meal.
We flew down to Amisfield from Auckland because we so enjoy their Pinot Nior and in the past have had three wonderful meals there. Unfortunately this time we were very disappointed and don't plan to return unless we hear it's back to it's old, wonderful self. We found the food over complicated and lacked flavour. The service was not friendly and lacked warmth. Since we've spoken about our disappointment, we've learnt others have the same view.
We had a wonderful few hours at Amisfield. We opted for the 3 Course Chefs choice lunch which was outstanding. Both the presentation and the flavours were divine. The staff were friendly, efficient and very knowledgeable. Can’t wait to come back.
One of our all time favourites in NZ
Superb, creative food in a beautiful setting with friendly and attentive service. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
A fantastic dining experience. The atmosphere was lovely, and several of our party commented on the small but excellent touch of providing hats for diners to enjoy the outdoor setting. The food was outstanding and the wine pairings very well thought out. The service provided by our waiter (Tom) was impeccable, and he provided a perfect balance of knowledge and personality. A 10/10 experience and I would highly recommend to anyone travelling through the Queenstown region in New Zealand.
We had such an amazing dinner and loved the in-house cured meats as well as the black truffle butter
Amazing location, amazing views, incredible service and delicious food! The wine is obviously on point as well! A must place to see if you are in the queenstown area!
One of my favourite restaurants in the world!
Absolutely perfect, great wine and food! We had fantastic service from Kevin!
Great food, great service. Amazing afternoon spent with friends. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
The food was delicious, the wine matching excellent and the staff were funny and informative.
We had a wonderful day - best service whilst in Queenstown
Had a nice lunch with great wine!
The staff were amazing, so professional but friendly and engaging at the same time. The food was wonderful and definitely showcased local produce. it was great to try some things that are unique to NZ. We weren't particularly happy with one course of our degustation, but were immediately sent out something different by the chef and it was sublime. Couldn't fault the staff, nor the location, the petanque and stone totem art works were particularly awesome. The hats and sunscreen were also a thoughtful touch. We will definitely back on our next NZ trip.
Too expensive now unfortunately. Prefer a la carte. Wines and atmosphere wonderful as is service. Please bring back a la carte lunches. Trust the chef is ok but give us a choice of that or a regular menu. Thanks
