About Amicus Restaurant Paul Street
Amicus Restaurant offers a casual dining experience in an atmospheric contemporary setting. Simple, straight forward dishes, fresh local produce, friendly service and a well-chosen wine list. The restaurant features a lounge/bar area that is popular with guests for pre-dinner drinks and also serves a selection of tapas. Fully licensed there is a great selection of cocktails, beers and spirits. Tea/coffee, snacks and pastries from our in-house bakery are available throughout the day.
Food was really nice and the menu was varied which was good to see. Only downside was the restaurant was closing at 9pm which I wasn't aware of when I received a phone call confirming our booking. This unfortunately ruined our experience as the staff were quite rude when we arrived and had frequently returned to our table to take our order. They were constantly cleaning the floor and tables near us throughout our meal. Myself and my partner felt pressured into hurrying out the door as soon as possible to allow the staff enjoy their bank holiday weekend. We were reluctantly offered the dessert menu and a coffee but we declined as we knew it wasn't going to be received well if we had delayed the staff any longer. The chairs outside were stacked up and put away and nearly every empty table was wiped by a different member of staff at some point during our meal. Lights around the bar and upstairs were switched off as well. The floor was brushed clean a number of times and the bucket and mop was out ready to do the last run around on the floor. I rushed my food because of this unwelcoming and uncomfortable atmosphere and ended up getting sick later that night in our hotel room as a result. My partner could not finish her meal on time. Other patrons who were having drinks took the numerous hints and left which meant we were the only ones left in the restaurant for some time at the end. We would still eat at the restaurant for its choice of food but would struggle to recommend it from a service perspective. We would certainly advise making an earlier booking! Or avoid ordering if eating within 1hr of closing time.
Great atmosphere and the food was beautiful. Definitely be back
Great Staff and great food!!
I wasn't happy with the service. I ordered a steak with no mushroom and extra onions. The waiter wrote it down. What I got was a steak, onion and a mushroom. The bread my friend got was not fresh.
Excellent food and great atmosphere
Lovely meal and great service 😊
The staff were lovely and the food was really nice.
Staff very attentive which liked all very nice , food amazing , value for money , even on the full menu
Excellent service. Amazing friendly superb team. Warm welcome. Great table. Great ambience. Excellent cocktails. Tasty food. Look forward to our return again. Thank you.
Brought my wife and mother out fo rmothers day with the kids. To be fair it was a bit busy but we were 70mins waiting for starters and another hour for main. Got there at 6 and left at 8.50 . Food was mediocre and just above warm temperature but as we were so hungry we just ate it. Doubt we ll be back.Waitress was very nice which was the only positive
Felt v processed , pizza and chicken very plain . Chips were really horrible .
Friendly and efficient staff
As a group of 28 i was so impressed with the level of service and quality of food. Everyone was served their courses together and all were piping hot. It was commented numerous times how impressed everyone was Amicus. Would definitely recommend.
Thanks! Even though we were a large group of 49 - the service was friendly, helpful and quick and the food was lovely.
Great Early bird deals, busy from before 6pm which is a great sign.
Lovely lunch on a very busy Friday.
Always love coming to Amicus, such great food with great service to match. We had a lovely lunch, despite a few small issues but otherwise enjoyed our time there. There was a bit of a wait for the food (around 30 mins) and the restaurant wasn’t very busy at the time. When the food came, some of it wasn’t hot enough and went cold quite quickly. Food was still delicious though so it wasn’t a big problem, and the staff were friendly and attentive as usual. Hoping to come back soon for another delicious meal
Amazing work guys. Eat with you often and brought my German friend on Tuesday night. You guys impressed him so much we had dinner with you guys again the following day. Fair play lads. Amazing house white also. :)
Very good food and value for money. Friendly staff also
We were here after my son's graduation from a Master's in UCC food was great so was the service. There was one Pint of Heineken in our drinks order which was off end of barrel which we returned and was dealt with promptly. We were offered a lovely Kinsale IPA instead. Sea bass and risotto particularly fabulous and so was the service. We will be back.
A great dining experience. Definitely go back.
We really enjoyed our meal , how ever my partner is a ceoliac and asked the waitress for the gluten free options available. There was no allergy signs on the menu. He was told the curry was gluten free. He ate nothing else after this . He was extremely ill that night and had a pain which indicates when he has eaten gluten. This must mean that your curry is not gluten free and should not be served to people who have asked for a gluten free meal and the staff should be more educated on gluten free and other allergies when people request these.
We had an amazing time, I couldn't say enough about the service. Aha and Tara went above and beyond! Well done all
