About Amarone Aberdeen
Ciao! Ready for a slice of cosmopolitan Italy? Vibrant with chatter, the clink of glasses and the shake-a-shake-a-shake of cocktails from the central cocktail bar, Amarone has all the buzz of a restaurant in central Milan.
If you can resist the temptation of crisp pizza straight from the central oven, freshly made pastas filled with classic Italian combinations might turn your head. Need some more time to decide? Dunk warm homemade focaccia in rich beef ragu and take your time making your mind up.
To elevate your occasion, Amarone is the go-to. Private dining in our "primo piano", complete with private bar is like nowhere else.
Need we say we have a good selection of Amarone Della Valpolicella wine in our cellar? Say "saluti" over a wine from the cellar, cocktail from the bar or let the pop of a cork mark the start of the evening ahead.
Excellent food & excellent decor. However, food service was slow and table a bit cramped.
I cannot tell you how disappointed I was when I went to Amarone on Saturday night. I have been to the one in Edinburgh and may time to the original Aberdeen one before the fire. Myself and my girlfriend (her birthday meal) could not wait to go and have a nice night out at Amarone. But it was not a good experience. Table booked for 9PM and was taken upstairs to find you had put three off, two seater tables between the outside tables Making it cramped.. I could reach out and touch the back of the tables chairs.. you just shoved three tables in to an area that Tables should not be… the other two couples at the other middle tables also complained and one couple left. The very bad table set up was not just upstairs.. when I went to use the toilet it was a nightmare squeezing between tables and hot food to get to the toilets.. again to many tables rammed into that area… god help you if the fire alarm went off. We also had the wrong wine given to us and this was only noticed when we ordered the second bottle, the main was not hot and was eating and thinking when will I actually put a stone cold fork into my mouth. Last of all the garlic bread was cold and rock hard and I mean rock hard.. if I dropped it, it would shame into pieces. So may experience at Amarone Aberdeen was not a good one. You have lots of good restaurants in Aberdeen, Amarone need to wise up and not shove tables into the restaurant just to get bums on seats.
Food good - service very good - could do with the background music being turned down or off as fairly intrusive
Excellent service & food was delicious even though the restaurant was very busy
Amazing experience, my husband's comment was he didn't know anywhere like this existed in Aberdeen! Will certainly be back!
Great to be back in Amarone with the fab new decor! Food was great & staff were lovely!
Second visit in 2020. First on 2 January all round excellent. Return visit 18 Jan. Food excellent but service not so good. Had 3 drinks on our bill not ours; no-one came to tell us our table was ready; waited over 30 mins and even when we asked, were left standing waiting. Table allocated near the bar; very noisy with music and boozy revellers. Overall not as pleasant. In future may avoid Saturday evenings as it seemed a 'pack them in' strategy. Difficult to put in place some level of dress code too I suppose. Hope the Manager will decide to do cocktail making sessions.
Amazing restaurant, just as it was prior to the fire except the decor is even better now. Cannot fault the experience at all!
Lovely, lovely, lovely x
My first visit here and it won’t be my last . Thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. The staff were so helpful and pleasant. Loved it
Perfect Golden wedding meal for party of 18. Service friendly and helpful, food excellent. Delighted with the whole experience
Looking fab after your refurbishment and we had a superb evening thank you.
Staff was very lovely, from the moment we went in we were looked after in detail. Food was great. And the tiramisu dessert, seventh heaven. Had a beautiful night there.
Food and service was amazing!
Lovely pre theatre dinner. Felt the restaurant a little cold but otherwise everything was very good.
This was the first time I had returned to Amarone after they closed after the fire. The food was still of the highest quality and the service was good. Loved the new decor.
Only slight negative was one of our party was lactose intolerant. The only option for dessert was a fruit salad, no other choices but its literally the only negative I have and would not put me off returning.
My parents and brother and girlfriend were already seated at the table when myself and my partner arrived, which was nice, but we were in a booth and for 6 people, it was a little tight at times so for groups like that, if there is a round table or a longer table with more room, that may have been more comfortable but the restaurant was busy and so this was understandable. The service was very fast and professional, with staff serving the table being very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious as were the cocktails I sampled and my partner enjoyed the “house” lager too. The desserts were to die for! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed Amarone and would come back again and again. I have already recommended to friends and family after our meal. Thank you!
Great place, great food, great wine
It’s been decorated really nicely during the refurb! The food was really good, and the itison menu had a good selection. My husband did find the smoked salmon risotto a little bland and the portion size for risotto was massive. The service was attentive but the waitress could have cracked a smile and been a little more engaging. The drinks were really good and it was nice to see some non alcoholic cocktails, I would suggest adding a non / low alcohol gin option to that. I had 2 virgin moijitos which were really good. The ginger fizz was now... it was undrinkable in my opinion and not fizzy in the slightest. The menu was a little misleading. Overall it was a lovely meal and will be back to try more of the menu.
Great staff, fabulous decor and great food , could not fault it
Service was very good, as food, beautiful place, might be slightly noisy for some.
I booked the VIP meal deal for my birthday and when booking I advised the staff that I would need space for a pram and a high chair. When we arrived we were taken to a booth which was not suitable for a pram or highchair so we were moved to another table and a high chair was squeezed in. It would have been more helpful to remove a chair to make room for the high chair. We were then brought the standard menus despite being there for the VIP meal so had to ask for the correct menus. The food was mostly lovely and good sized portions however the risotto tasted like rice pudding and sauce on the muscles was very salty (maybe that is my own palette). The waiter who brought over pepper and parmesan literally turned the pepper mill twice and seemed to have difficulty grating parmesan. We requested the bill several times and when it did arrive there were additional drinks that we did not have, a pint of Amarone and am ?amaretto sour so had to highlight this to the waitress. Very disappointed as we were looking forward to celebrating my birthday with a special meal.
