This was my first experience of Michelin star dining and definitely not an experience I’m going to forget in a hurry, I’m a keen cook who has a huge interest in it all so to experience it all first hand was superb! The service was exceptional and so was the food! The wine waiter had a great knowledge of the massive wine list😆 The other waiters were also great at explaining what was being served! Last but not least the food was absolutely amazingly presented and cooked by Richard. Really hope to visit again in the near future
Owner Charles in Nico and Richard has an outstanding General Manager and Head Chef; they are the foundation of a Michelin star Restaurant with Rooms which consistently delivers a quality product. Richard’s team in the kitchen are established and Nico is catching up with Josh, an experienced sommelier and Joe and Martin. We are regular diners who have become accustomed to a Michelin experience but last night topped them all😀
Very enjoyable meal here. The welcome and food were superb. In particular the tomato consume on the vegetarian menu as the first course was superb. Worth giving up fish for. Wine pairings were well done and of good quality. Definitely worthy of two stars.
Good food but not great. Eg crab dish too acidic masking mild flavour of crab and deep fried lamb balls stodgy. Presentation of food was very good. Service was efficient and friendly but a bit stuffy and formal at times. Atmosphere in lounges was whispery and the use of a self service honesty bar is inappropriate at present.
Julia and I had a gastronomic experience which surpassed all our expectations. We were looked after splendidly by all the team, and we're very excited to have booked up again. Something to really look forward to!
Excellent tasting menu with good variety and very fresh ingredients. Dishes of the highest quality, and very well presented. Full marks. Extensive and interesting wine list, priced very fairly. Overall extremely good.
Imaginative food much more deserving of two stars than many of those who have two stars. well done to chef and your team
A first class restaurant in a relaxing atmosphere.
A very enjoyable stay.
We expected fabulous food and a lovely stay having been once before and it was even better this time.
A wonderful experience with exquisite food.
Wonderful and inventive food. Lovely to have it largely locally sourced/home grown at the Hall. Beautifully presented and with excellent wine pairings including some lesser known vineyards. Service throughout also top quality. A highlight of our trip to the Lake District. We look forward to returning.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Askham Hall. Beautifully prepared and presented tasting menu and great wine pairing. However..........after a bit of a rushed start to service (the 1st course was served on top of the nibbles) the interval between courses seemed to get longer and longer as the meal progressed. The front of house team appeared to be across everything so was the kitchen a bit overstretched?
Wifi signal for guests really needs improving.
A very enjoyable experience. Excellent food offering and a very well executed and balanced tasting menu. Well deserved Michelin star. The wine list is one of the best I have seen in England, and the knowledge of the staff was impressive.
- everything perfect except would like a slightly larger pour in the wine pairings!
Exceptional cuisine with impeccable friend professional service. Well deserving of its Michelin star.
Best meal we have ever had including the wine. Service was superb, excellent knowledge and very friendly and down to earth. Out of this world experience, thank you!!
Superb food& the tasting menu was beautifully balanced. Maybe didn't need 2 desserts though. Portion size perfect and didn't feel rushed at any point. Service excellent as usual. Delightful eating in the private dining room due to self distancing. Wonderful evening.
Amazing food amazing services and venue Wouldn’t change a thing
Wonderful place - really loved our dinner and stay!
Wonderfully inventive cooking, beautifully presented on lovely ceramics. Thank you chef! The service was prompt and friendly. Very helpful wine tips from the sommelier.
Had a wonderful stay here - the food was great and the staff really welcoming. Would definitely recommend
Had a fantastic meal - well balanced menu in a relaxing environment. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable - excellent choice of wines too. We will definitely recommend and return.
Fantastic meal at Allium to round up a fabulous stay at Askham Hall. The courses were perfectly portioned, and complemented each other wonderfully. The seatrout was a family favourite. I have a confession to make here. Not realising that it was a taster meal, I hadn't let the chef know in advance that I have a shellfish allergy. I sheepishly informed the kitchen as we received the pre-dinner nibbles. Without any quibbles, the crab was replaced by a delicious tomato dish, which I enjoyed just as much as the rest of my family enjoyed the crab. Special mention to the sommelier, who recommended a wine that went perfectly with the meal. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
