About Acacia Restaurant and Garden Bar
The spacious Acacia in Ellerslie’s Novotel is open for all, guests and non-guests, running a buffet and a la carte menu. Head Chef Charlie Pihera uses sustainable and local produce to create a tasty selection of contemporary NZ cuisine for every diner. Sit in the beer garden just in earshot of the racecourse, or opt for a more serene dinner in the grand hall.
Great service in very pleasant surroundings. Extensive menu with generous portions. Will definitely return
Novotel Greenlane has a spacious setup. The food is tasty and when the buffet table runs out is refilled promptly.
Good food with good service
Great atmosphere and excellent food, will visit again soon. Service was spot on too.
It’s awsom place but not happy with service need more alert and experienc staff
Great service by friendly staff, average food, thanks for complimentary dessert as it was our wedding Anniversary.
Great food quality and atmosphere. Hope to see more choices next time!
We had the buffet. Hardly any good on offer. No cutlery dirty plates. Just a real disappointment really. Had dined here before but this time the standard was terrible
Thanks to the head chef of the night for the beautiful food and we will return with our extended family for another awesome experience!
Good experience..nothing bad to say only critique would be to expand the desserts menu..very limited but apart from that ot was alright.
Lovely buffet meal, excellent selection of meats, salads, hot vegetables and dessert. Good service at both the bar and the restaurant.
Coffee machine didn't have a cappuccino option so that was disappointing. Food and service was good. I booked for buffet dinner online for 5pm, and also booked via email. I was advised by email that buffet dinner starts at 6pm so staff member was going to amend it to 6pm booking. However an email confirmation received still showed booking was for 5pm so I had to call to modify correct booking time. Why does it allow you to book a buffet dinner online for the incorrect time????
The buffet food does not get topped up regulary as the presentation was messy. The raw fish was horrible and you dont have enough hot meat dishes. The idea of cooking salmon was nice but the chef over cooked the salmon. The soup was too salty. I do not think the chef you have is great cook. There were some nice dishes like the cheesecake chicken prawns sushi salmon and oysters. I just think your buffet needs to be reassessed. The rating for the buffet would be 2/5.
Only issue albeit minor you need to have the seafood chowder at the beginning where the plates are. I only realised there was chowder when I went to get my dessert.
Invariably we have a good experience when dining at the Acacia and especially appreciate the service given by restaurant staff. My only concern is the low ambient temperature and I always have to take a warm coat to wrap up in. We are Accor Club members.
Enjoyed our visit.Food and service was very good.
Your staff were fabulous and the food very good with some super flavours. The portion sizes were great for hungry people! The venue is well laid out and in a quite and relaxing location. We will be back.
A lovely evening spent in the Acacia.
The food was nice. Service was friendly and helpful but they haven't had much training. For example, came and took plates away as they were finished rather than waiting until everyone had finished the course.
We had a family dinner 22/3 . 19 people in total. The seating area good close to buffet. The service was awesome from beginning to the end especially 4 free jugs of drinks. Love the free carpark. We weren't rushed which was great . Food was yummy. But didn't enjoy ice cream. Kids enjoy playground area. Definitely recommend to others. Happy customer. Will see yous again👌
Great dining experience. Food was great and couldn't fault the service either.
Particularly appreciate the service that Georgie gives us, she is an excellent hostess. All four of us fully enjoyed our meals and the quiet environment in which to talk. We invariably enjoy the meals at the Acacia, thanks. Vivian
It was extremely disappointing to find that the menu on your website was entirely different to the one available in the restaurant. The website menu is far superior to the one actually available. I have eaten many times in your lounge bar for lunch and invited guests to your restaurant for dinner based on the website menu and was embarrassed to find the menu available was nothing like the advertised menu. Very poor management.
What attracted us was the great Valentines dinner for a couple for $120. Great deal offer & if you love your seafood perfect. Ive told my friends about it for next year, they love their seafood. But me & my partner are not seafood fans we will have small portions but thats our limit. Would of been great if there was an option of steak or chicken meals on that Valentines menu. So we ordered from the regular menu. Our entree was chicken nibbles, the coating yum & went well with the side sauce & we had garlic bread, I thought we were getting 4 garlic bread but only 2. Maybe I didnt read the menu properly. Main meal I had fish & chips yummy & fresh & my partner had steak meal, that was cooked to perfection & the seasoning great he didnt add any salt at all (& he loves his salt). We cleaned up all our meals & were hearty full. Service was great & the atmosphere relaxing. We only go out to special venues for special occasions & this was a night to remember. Also loved the glass of wine that was given as a Valentines special great touch & incentive. Would definitely come here again.
Special mention to Justice, our waitress. Service was above and beyond. Thank you :-)
