About 62 The Bank & Bar62
A modern bistro in a truly unique setting.
With oak panelled walls and a Jacobean
ceiling, this is a hive of atmosphere with
great music and a seasonal menu that
utilises the best local produce; from small
sharing plates and doorstop sandwiches
for lunch to hearty grills and refined dishes
in the evening, the problem will be trying to
choose from this extensive menu.
Lovely staff , amazing food
Josh and the team looked after us perfectly all evening. We were a larger group (24) so were given a private room for both our evening meal and breakfast both mornings. We will certainly be returning next year!
A birthday lunch for 4. We all enjoyed our food and the carvery and pudding deal was great. With our NHS discount we all had a proper meal and drinks for £60. Very enjoyable.
Good service and staff great. We were well looked after. Thanks.
Enjoyed the carvery deal, beautiful food and quality service.
Very good food we had the carvery meal and sweet for £10 would definitely go again
Quick service really friendly atmosphere and absolutely delicious food
Excellent overall dining experience
Delay in getting our drinks, they arrived almost same time as our food. Generally poor service, have had much better here before.
Great food I have stayed at their hotel over last ten years and never had a bad meal superb food every time and very friendly staff
Great environment reasonable price would like to see the menu varied more often
As I do not have a cooked breakfast very disappointed that there were no croissants or rolls - was told they were waiting for a delivery! but this is something that should be available at breakfast. Otherwise we were very satisfied with our stay and would come again.
Wonderful large tasty breakfast, thank you.
We have stayed with you many times - but this was by far the best. All the staff were extremely helpful, kind and very considerate. I am only sorry that I could not stay the Sunday night due to illness. Thank you everything.
Food superb - portion size amazing, staff very attentive - highly recommended
I had the chicken an chorizo ciabatta, it was delightful. Lovely portion size, plenty of meat and a delicious chutney.
Staff were lovely, food great, hadn't been for years but will be back.
The ambience and staff could not do enough to make our lunch enjoyable, unfortunately the carvery course was not very warm and the vegetarian meal was bland. Shame really. A lady was there on her own and obviously had memory lapses, the venue and their staff looked after this lady and did not charge her for anything she ate, true Christmas spirit and impressive.
We booked The Bank as we know it has a good reputation in Barnstaple with excellent food. Although the service and food was good, however we did not think it was value for money. Portion sizes were minuscule, for example the crate of calamari was filled with more rocket than the actual calamari itself. The seabass was very small as well as the pork belly. For £30 a head I expected more.
good service and food even though busy
Really great service, very accommodating. Food was delicious!
This meal was for a work do, the service & staff were excellent. The menu choice was really good, great choice for all. Everyone in the group loved there experience.
We had a party for my youngest daughters 18th birthday her choice was 62The Bank, the table was booked for 18 people although only 17 would be eating - the extra place was for my daughters’ father who had been undergoing treatment for cancer and did not feel he would be up for eating, I pointed this out to the person I handed the food order list to on 25th november and was told that we would be on the table on right hand side of the bar and it was an 18 seat table. The day before we cancelled 1 meal (unfortunately I had miscounted the food order originally) when we arrived on the evening we were actually in the vault (which was fine) but there were not enough seats, this was rectified and the food shortage was also sorted although the young man who dealt with that could adjust his manner and not be quite so officious. Our main waitress (I didn’t get her name she was quite young with dark hair in a ponytail) had a manner that was off hand and slightly rude at some points, the food we were served was all of a good standard, when it came to sweets they all arrived and then she bought in a cheese board which I told her hadn’t been ordered her response was ‘well it was on the list’ I told her it definitely wasn’t and she just put it down regardless, 5 minutes later a different waitress cane in and asked if we’d started eating it and I said no it wasn’t ordered by us to which she said ‘no it was a mistake!’ As I knew it was! When my eldest daughter asked if we could do the cake the waitress replied in a brusque fashion she needed to clear tables of rubbish first, fair enough but a little more polite and friendly manner would have been nice! Sadly we had overlooked candles for the cake but the staff did manage to locate some which we were grateful for. Some of our guests were surprised that they had to go into Bar 62 to obtain drinks and again the manner in which they were informed was somewhat lacking . It was a shame that a few small attitude problems could have spoilt an important occasion and it wasn’t a cheap occasion either! As a family we have always enjoyed our experience at 62 The Bank.
Fantastic evening all round and the staff were wonderful thankyou for such a lovely evening
Great food, quick service and lovely atmosphere. It didn’t feel rushed even though we only had a two hour slot and I would recommend you to others.
