Often foraged, largely local, always changing.
Head Chef Phil Corrie leads a talented kitchen team creating carefully-structured, regularly-changing menus that allow you to savour all three courses yet not feel overwhelmed or ‘stuffed’ by the end.
An 1863 dining experience will no doubt generate conversation around the table on the night, but we hope will also give you something to talk about long after you’ve left for the evening.

I booked this hotel for a treat for my husband’s birthday. We stopped in room 6 and it was a beautiful room, sadly it was only for one night. To put the icing on the cake I also made a reservation in the hotel’s restaurant for our evening meal. WOW!!!! Truly a special experience. A foodies paradise!!!!!

A wonderfully intimate and cosy resturant, with a fine selection of food and drink. It was definately one of the best set meals and value for money meals i have ever eaten. The food and staff were outstanding, as was it's atmosphere too.
A lovely evening at the restaurant. We had the 3-course dinner for £45, which we felt was reasonable for the calibre of food we received. Would highly recommend.

A beautiful place to stay and relax. We stayed two nights and had a meal both nights in the restaurant, all I can say about the food is that it was amazing and the staff are so pleasant and informative on what they are serving you it adds to the experience. I nearly forgot the breakfast is first class as well. And yes me and my husband will be back.

Stunning, imaginative and delicious and excellent service as usual.
My husband and I had a fantastic experience at 1863. We particularly enjoyed the lamb tartare starter and duck & lamb mains. The restaurant had a good ambience with interesting decor. The staff were attentive and very personable. We'll definitely visit again!

Dined at 1863 twice during our one week stay on Ullswater and thoroughly enjoyed our meals on both occasions.
A very enjoyable and exciting meal. All the food was a delight and delicious. The little extras of homemade Jersey butter and home baked honey brushed buns just added to what was a wonderful beautifilly cooked and presented meal. The staff were very friendly and professional in their service of the food too. A very enjoyable and memorable evening. Thankyou to everyone.
Fantastic evening, fabulous food! Would have liked slightly bigger portions, although I appreciate it is a tasting menu!! Fabulous service, loved the decor and feeling of the restaurant. Very cosy but elegant!
