Often foraged, largely local, always changing.
Head Chef Phil Corrie leads a talented kitchen team creating carefully-structured, regularly-changing menus that allow you to savour all three courses yet not feel overwhelmed or ‘stuffed’ by the end.
An 1863 dining experience will no doubt generate conversation around the table on the night, but we hope will also give you something to talk about long after you’ve left for the evening.

Stayed 2nights as a treat for wife’s 50th. The team arranged flowers balloon and chocolates on arrival, our room was superb really high standard and great attention to detail. We had the taster menu in the evening fantastic array of flavour, breakfast was just as good, all the staff were attentive. A real treat !!! We will definitely return.

Another smashing evening for us at 1863. Lovely food, beautifully presented and great service from the team. We’ve already booked our next meal.
Pretentious and disappointing. The food is delicious but the portions are half the size you would receive in a Michelin Star restaurant (chicken dish with lobster tail was a third of a chicken breast with two bits of lobster - £24.50). The serving staff are at best cold and unwelcoming and at worst rude - no effort to provide a good customer experience. It would be very easy to turn 1863 into a gorgeous restaurant with well thought out menus and amazing food, but the concept of ‘not being full’ at the end of three courses (when you have paid top prices) is just not fitting. We were still hungry after we left, despite the hefty bill.
We enjoyed our meals. It would have helped with choices if there was more info on the menu. Think I would have had something different! Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were allowed to rake our time.

The food was very special.....didn't realise it was possible to pack so much flavour in. Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Good value for the quality of food being served.
Food quality was excellent and portion size just right. Very friendly and efficient service. We loved sitting by the garden window watching the birds joining us with their evening supper!

We choose to have the 6 course dinning expedience each course was beautiful to the eye and an explosion of tastes in the mouth, the staff are very attentive and knowledgable. Higher recommended.
Lovely rooms in this small 'boutique' restaurant with rooms. Outstanding food! We had the 6 course tasting menu and accompanying wine flight which I would say was well priced and great value. Each dish provided some unique flavours and the wine accompaniment complimented each dish superbly. Stand out for me was the breast of lamb accompanied by the Spanish red wine, Mil Historias Bobal - just absolutely delicious! Great friendly staff as well. All in all, highly recommended.

Honestly the best all round meal I’ve had in years. Will be back sooner than anticipated!
