About 1863 Bar Bistro Rooms
Often foraged, largely local, always changing.
Head Chef Phil Corrie leads a talented kitchen team creating carefully-structured, regularly-changing menus that allow you to savour all three courses yet not feel overwhelmed or ‘stuffed’ by the end.
An 1863 dining experience will no doubt generate conversation around the table on the night, but we hope will also give you something to talk about long after you’ve left for the evening.
Fantastic dining experience. Really enjoyed meeting your staff, loved the food, wine and the beautiful decor. Looking forward to another visit, hopefully sooner rather than later.
One of the nicest meals I've ever had. Fabulous quality, a stunning location and warm and professional staff.
We could look into preparing a mocktail menu.
A really superb evening last Saturday, food exquisite. We will definately be booking again - thank you to all
As usual, excellent food Very friendly atmosphere good professional service
I said it all on trip advisor- really delighted with every aspect of the experience thank you.
Fabulous meal, almost faultless. Will be back again
Lovely place, great food, look forward to coming back to try more dishes.
The standard of food hasn’t faltered since you opened for business and we always enjoy the warm welcome.
Extraordinary food - we had the taster menu and every course was beautifully crafted. Local lamb cooked to perfection, imaginative approaches to ingredients. Also a really good vegetarian alternative. Lovely location, and friendly, relaxed atmosphere.
The Herdwick lamb was incredibly tender with a delicious, very deeply flavoured jus and everything was perfectly seasoned. The freshly baked bread and home-made butter were an additional treat.
This was our first visit to 1863 and I am sure it won’t be our last. We had a throughly delightful evening, and enjoyed beautifully prepared dishes, full of flavour and imagination. The menu maybe small but the dishes were executed to a very high standard. Service was excellent with staff being very attentive. Enjoyed the whole experience, thank you.
Great food, really enjoyed our evening
Amazing food and brilliant service, will come back to enjoy the full taster menu and experience!
Fabulous place, great staff, will be back
One of the best meals we’ve ever had , wonderful service , amazing food , lovely welcoming atmosphere, a gem of a place .
Excellent, imaginative food and great service..
Exceptional food and fantastic service all night. Highly recommended!
This is the second time we have been to this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. The food is amazing, Michelin quality. The only small point is that there should be a choice of two vegetarian dishes and maybe get some vegetarian cheese in.
Simply cannot fault 1863 and the team. We had an amazing experience here, the dishes were stunning with innovative flavour combinations from local produce and the kitchen should be very proud of what they are producing! Waiting staff are very knowledgeable on the menu and nothing was too much trouble for them, including personal requests. Really felt valued as customers and we will certainly be returning next time we are in the area. Thank you once again!
Only minor comment (not criticism !) is the relatively small number of options on the evening menu - 4 starters, 4 mains. Having said that the standard of food presentation and quality was superb. We had the lamb and I found it to be well into the top 3 lamb dishes I have ever had, and one of those was my late Mothers !
Excellent food, excellent service.
Thank you . We really enjoyed our meal. Taste ,presentation and service wonderful. Our only comments if we were being picky are: Perhaps a price for coffee without petit fours. Cheese is a tad expensive. Although the brief descriptions of the dishes is intriguing it can also be a touch disappointing, for example I had tiramisu desert and my husband summer berries . The tiramisu was disappointing but the summer berry dish was exceptional . I didn't pick berries as the description didn't give any thing other than 'summer berries'. Tiny points. Please take this as positive feedback as we really enjoyed a lovely evening and the food was excellent, particularly the mushroom starter. We hope to visit again !
We have been going to 1863 for nearly two years now, and every single time we go, the food is absolutely amazing. The chef always trying something different and sharing his new ideas with little tasters. The Staff very attentive, always advising you and very knowledgeable about the dishes that are served. Love this place, its our little treat to ourselves when we visit Pooley Bridge. Truly a lovely place.
This was my 4th time to eat with you and it never fails to please, it just keeps getting better, Delicious!!
