About Restaurant 1847
Restaurant 1847 offers British vegetarian dining. Located within the beautiful Great Western Arcade. Our goal is to improve the standard of vegetarian and vegan dining.
Food was superb - creative and beautifully presented. My coeliac friend was catered for completely. Special options were included in the menu and staff took the time and trouble to find out the extent of the intolerance and explain that kitchen areas had been specifically cleaned to ensure no gluten contamination. My friend (who's not vegetarian) was more than impressed by this and the food, thank you so much for the kind attention.
Fantastic food as ever. Took non vegetarian friends and they were raving about it. Always lovely in fact back again this week.
Excellent tasty food. My friend was especially impressed with the attention that was paid by the staff regarding her gluten allergy. The chef came out to see her, went through the menu with suggestions & explained how everything was cooked. She has never had that level of service before. Only minor criticism- we were sitting by the door & it kept swinging open. It was a chilly night so we were sitting in a draught. Decor is a bit sparse but you are there for the food! Service was excellent. Would recommend a visit.
We really enjoyed the food with the exception of the bhajis which were very overcooked and almost inedible. The beer battered halumi and chips were fantastic my daughter really enjoyed the feta and beetroot rolls. We will be back but a shame about the bhajis otherwise really very good thank you.
three mains, two desserts and two soft drinks was £40. after we finished our mains the side order was served, despite me pointing this out when we were half way through the mains, we were told the chef had missed the side order, no worries he is only human, then we were told "It's OK, you won't be charged". I was pleased that I would not be charged for an order that I did not receive. the menu was limited with 4 main courses and four desserts, I have actually been to non-vegetarian restaurants with more than 4 options. the wait between course was too long eg: for main then the wait for the desserts. You should also consider soft furnishings to reduce the noise levels as you have high ceilings and even with a table of four people sat close the bistro became quite loud. suffice to say we will not be back either to B'ham bistro or the Manchester which is close by.
A lovely dining experience where we celebrated my daughter's birthday and will definitely come againg and are already recommending to friends and family, thank you jane
Although my clearly communicated allergy needs were unfortunately overlooked and I had a bad reaction to my starter, both the chef and waitress apologised and my meal was given to me free which was very nice considering the circumstances. I would try bistro 1847 again but would like reassurance this won't happen again (being given a dish with 7 egg yolks when I am allergic to eggs!). Shame is was quiet for a Saturday - some music would have been nice.
Great food and friendly service love the place only downside is uncomfortable seating and small space
Decided to try on a last minute decision after reading lots of good reviews. Pleased to say it lived up to the expectations. Amazing food and presentation. Neither of us are vegetarians but 3 courses satisfied us both. Will definitely be going back.
We really enjoyed our first visit to Bistro 1847, for my vegetarian friends birthday. And even though the rest of us are very much meat eaters we really really enjoyed the food and definitely will return.
I will definatly be returning! Have already recommended to friends!!!!
What a treat to find such a great veggie eating place in Birmingham. Really enjoyed our food & the service was excellent, good to know that wines & beers are suitable for vegetarians. Thanks for a great evening.
Very fresh, tasty veg restaurant.
We found the service very informal, friendly and relaxed and our food arrived promptly. There was a good range of choice on the menu and both courses were flavoursome and very satisfying. It was the first time we had been to a vegetarian restaurant; we will definitely go again and would recommend it to others.
Lovely meal. Food looked and tasted delicious Fantastic service Would definitely recommend
Lovely food presented very nice....made a complete change. Friendly staff. We had a voucher so for us it was very good value.
The food was really nice, and the wine was lovely. The drinks came very promptly, but the food took ages, no explanation was given. I think after being there after an hour and ten minutes we had only had our starter. We had a good deal through living social so the price was really good.
The food here is great, being a vegetarian I am always spoilt for choice! Service is always relaxed and friendly. The only thing I would say (if I had to choose something bad) is that the tables are placed really close together and sometimes more privacy is appreciated.
Service was slow on the Saturday night I visited but otherwise very friendly, good quality food (albeit smallish portions) and generally meeting expectations. Would go again and recommend to friends.
A lovely evening, very busy so service a bit slow, but not an issue on this occasion. Some soft drinks not available due to a supply issue however staff tried their best to compensate for this. Food lovely as always can't wait for the menu change as tried the entire menu now! Very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere . Here's to the next time
We enjoyed a very nice sat evening at 1847 bistro, the food was perfectly cooked ,imaginative and delicious! The service. was warm friendly and entertaining. Will defintely return.
High quality food a great find and a bonus that it's vegetarian.
