Easy booking service.Great food pre-theatre menu good value for money.
If i'm honest, I didn't really enjoy the main meal. It was well cooked, no issues, but it just wasn't to my taste. Dessert was lovely. The wine was outstanding. The atmosphere was lovely, even at lunchtime and the service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
We ate here 3 times over our weekend in Bristol. That says it all !
The Sunday roast was awesome! The service to go with it was great and very knowledgeable ensuring we understood how the different meat was cooked. Will definitely be back!
One of the best roast dinners I've ever had, and definitely the best bloody Mary!
Absolutely terrible service. Arrived 5 minutes early was told to order a drink at the bar whilst the table was prepared (lots of empty tables so not sure why we couldn’t just sit down) waited at the bar, may as well of been invisible. Staff just wandering around. Finally got seated to the table after a 10 minute wait, was bought water by the waitress but no glasses. After 10 minutes she reappeared took our food order and I then asked for glasses for the water, they never arrived!! Food came, not all at the same time - disappointing. Wasn’t asked if we wanted anything else to drink (even though our glasses were empty) no one came back to ask how our meal was. Didn’t bother staying for dessert as the service was well below standard. Will not be returning in a hurry.
One of the best roasts in Bristol
A gratuitous payment is made on a volentry basis . And should not be added to the bill unless requested . A large black mark against what was a very nice evening
Good food, slow ish service, nice waiter but timings a bit odd.
Absolutely delicious Sunday Roast with all the trimmings - the Yorkshire Pudding was a particular hit! There was 11 of us eating and we all had something different: chicken, roast beef and roast pork and there were clean plates all round! We'll definitely be back.
We booked a Sunday lunch for a family meal for 6 in late November. The atrium space was full and busy but not overly noisy but buzzy. The staff were all friendly while we waited for our table and then attentive and professional while they served us drinks and took our meal orders. The food all arrived on time and all six meals were first class. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the restaurant, staff and food to anyone
I’m never disappointed by my experience at 1766. Food is always lovely and the staff are pleasant efficient and make a point in asking if any more drinks are needed. Was asked on Sunday if everything was ok with our roasts and was then asked if I’d like more gravy which I thought was a nice touch! Will be coming back soon!
I’m so glad I opted to take my parents to 1766 for lunch before seeing Cyrano at the Bristol Old Vic. The food was fabulous and incredible value. It was great to see all the hubbub and comings and going’s of a busy theatre while enjoying our meal. Thank you!
Love the atmosphere. Food was great, service as well.
Booked a table for an interval pudding only during Cyrano. All worked perfectly - delicious puds & drinks all pre-ordered & ready for us when we came out of the theatre. Perfect for a birthday treat!
Outstandingly good food!
Our initial impression was that this was an odd space to eat in, however it proved be be a great venue and excellent pre-theatre meal in terms of food and service.
Great food , first class service
Great service and delicious food. Thank you.
Having been here before we couldn’t wait to come back for a roast. We ordered the beef and the chicken. Food came out super quickly was pipping hot and looked incredible. We both tucked in, my friend found a hair in her dinner which of course happens. I cannot fault the staff enough when notified they quickly took the plate back to the kitchen and brought out a fresh one moments later. Everyone was so apologetic but we knew that these things happen and we’re happy with the replacement. Overall the food is great and the service is amazing everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
The setting and service were fantastic but the food unfortunately let you guys down. The chocolate sponge was tad dry and the chocolate mouse really sickly. The choice of sandwiches, ie only cream cheese was poor. After visiting the Vintage Birdcage Cakery in Yate and having their afternoon tea only a week before this was below par. The vintages was 5 star and put yours to shame. Sorry
The food, service and general ambience couldn’t be bettered. We would come back just to eat, even if we didn’t have tickets for a production. Excellence in every area. We sat watching the bar and waiting staff and they work so well and with so much good humour. A well oiled machine.
Food, service and atmosphere was absolutely great, however and although it was not implemented, on tickets was a request to vacate the table about 30 minutes before our show started, I was not impressed with this and would have been very unhappy if we had to leave the table before we were ready.
A great asset in the city
Great food served in a fabulous space with impeccable service. Highly recommended.
