Whether you're trying to kill off a hangover, or you're having a chilled out day, there's nothing better than a good roast. Check out our list of the best places for Sunday lunch in Leeds right here.

The Square & Compass

If you’re looking for a classic Sunday Roast in Leeds in a nearby country pub, look no further. The Square & Compass does good honest Yorkshire food and drink in an idyllic village location. The dish to order is the Farmyard Feast, priced at £17.50, you’ll get hand carved beef, pork and a whole chicken leg. Plus the holy grail, two giant Yorkshire puddings and a mug of crackling. Yep, you heard us right, a MUG of crackling. For your veggie friends they can have the puy lentil and cashew nut roast, and perhaps if they’re feeling indulgent, they might want to go for a side of cauliflower cheese. Cos if there’s cauliflower cheese on the menu, you just have to order it.

The Midnight Bell

Leeds Brewery’s flagship pub is bound to do a good roast. The Midnight Bell is located in Holbeck’s atmospheric Urban Village, recently redeveloped in 2015 with a plethora of independent businesses including this pub, which is rumoured to be a favourite of Jamie Oliver. It’s the perfect mix of traditional and contemporary, they serve all your favourites, like Steak and Ale pie and fish and chips, but they also serve interesting dishes such as halloumi skewers and poached egg, pancetta, black pudding and ruby chard salad. Enjoy these dishes on a chilled Sunday for lunch, and wash it all down with some great beers from Leeds Brewery. If it’s a sunny day, eat al fresco in the best beer garden in Leeds.

Shears Yard

Shears Yard is a relaxing place to meet up for Sunday lunch in Leeds, if you’re looking for somewhere in town or near The Calls, this is the place to go. On the Sunday lunch menu  is the 12 hour roasted Sykes house farm beef sirloin, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, and gravy. Another favourite here at ResDiary is the overnight roasted shoulder of pork, served with all the trimmings. Get an extra side of Yorkshire pudding cos why not. Sunday lunch is all about indulging yourself before the nightmare that is Monday. Get a dessert at Shears Yard, you will not regret it. Our choice would be the dark chocolate and hazelnut brownie, hazelnut caramac, malt dulce de leche, and pale ale ice cream. Wanna book it already?

If you want to try something a little less traditional for Sunday lunch in Leeds, bring your crew to Sukhothai. This place can never be faulted in terms of service and quality of food, no matter how many people they’re catering too. Plus, they have branches in Chapel Allerton and Headingley if you don’t want to traipse all the way into town. Their flagship site is on South Parade in the city centre and is the perfect place to enjoy authentic Thai food in the heart of Leeds. If you want a really luxurious Sunday lunch, perhaps you have something to celebrate, book the VIP room and the go in on the buffet. Perfect for a family gathering if you have lots of different dietary requirements and ages to think about.
