Romantic restaurants in Manchester

People say that money makes the world go round. (and round and round and round.) But we couldn’t disagree more. Love makes the world go round. Just ask Romeo and Juliet, Cleopatra and Mark Athony, or Hayley and Roy Cropper. And every lovebird has gotta eat. Which is why we’ve put together a list of the most romantic restaurants in Manchester. You’re unlikely to get a chip butty here, but you are likely to have a great time with your one and only.

What is more romantic than a bit of passion? Nothing. And that’s why we’re taking you to the home of fiery emotions, Spain and Catalunya, with our Lunya recommendation. With its bloody-red walls, comfy seats and delicious food, Lunya is the perfect place to head for a date. Owners Peter and Elaine Kinsella ae huge lovers of Spain and have done all they can to pay homage to the country they love, serving up authentic foods and wines. Fancy taking this romantic night home? They have a huge deli where you can pick up some delicious wine and cheese for enjoying on the sofa. (Or in bed, we don’t judge.)

Randall & Aubin

Oysters, champagne, and low lighting made Randall and Aubin a sure thing for a place on our list of romantic restaurants in Manchester. This French/Anglo brasserie serves up some incredible seafood in perfectly refined surroundings. We suggest trying out the oysters before moving on to their famous bouillabaisse or a fruits de mer platter for optimum lovey-dovey sharing. If you’re really looking to impress a date (or you’ve recently forgotten an anniversary) treat them to a dessert, featuring flambé crème brulée, or the luxurious Randall and Aubin chocolate cake.

Dinner and a movie or a show? It doesn’t get much more typically romantic than that. Which is why Home Manchester has to be on the list. It’s a theatre-cum-restaurant-cum-cinema-cum-events space that all the cool kids in Manchester hang out at. At their first floor restaurant, you can enjoy a full three course meal or go for one of their pre-theatre deals (if you’re not willing to spend the big bucks.) With huge floor to ceiling windows and low lighting, it’s a great spot to bring a date, giving you a little extra time to spend chatting. They do a great gin menu including favourites like Caorunn and Bathtub, and a champagne menu if you’re feeling fancy. After dinner head to the cinema and catch a movie. Love-ly.

El Gato Negro

Cosy up indoors, or bask in the sunshine, at El Gato Negro the choice is yours as they boast a fantastic rooftop terrace for those two days of sunshine we get. This lovely restaurant is another one that embraces the Spanish lifestyle, with tapas dishes that are sure to wow you and your romantic partner. With a huge drinks list, featuring signature cocktails and on-point gin serves, this is the perfect place to spend a relaxed evening. Try out tasty dishes like Jamon serrano, Morcilla scotch eggs, and Basque cod pil-pil, food that’s sure to get your blood pumping. Loads of their dishes are gluten and dairy free, meaning no matter who your amore, there’s something to suit everyone.

Tre Ciccio

At ResDiary, we obviously think that continental Europe is a pretty romantic place, because our next featured restaurant is Italian delight, Tre Ciccio. Before going, you’d better ask your date if they “feel like chicken tonight?” as their speciality is pollo arrosto e patate: roast chicken and potatoes, Italian style. Don’t panic if they don’t, these guys also serve up a huge meny of classic and gourmet pizzas and salads that will suit everyone’s taste. Decorated like a classic Italian restaurant, Tre Ciccio is all brick walls, low lighting, and cosy tables, a sure-fire way to create a romantic ambience.

Cloud 23

All done with stuffing your faces? (In a graceful and romantic way, of course.) Then get yourselves down to Cloud 23. This rooftop bar looks out over the city and is the perfect place to gaze lovingly into your other half’s eyes, or stare out the window and wonder how the heck you ended up here. For drinks, we recommend the Date Night in Dubai; a gin, cactus juice, eldferflower, and ginger tea concoction that will make you feel pretty damn decadent.
