In Singapore’s ever-growing food scene, there’s a desperate need for restaurateurs to stand out from the crowd. And some of them have done it pretty well. We’ve rounded up the best quirky restaurants in Singapore for you. From themed spots to unusual venues, you’ll find the most unusual concepts this bustling city has to offer. Check out these off-the-wall eateries to indulge in dinner with a difference.

Sushi Kimura

Japanese food is hands-down the most popular cuisine in Singapore, and the city surely doesn’t lack sushi options. Jazz up your average sushi experience and try this quirky restaurant in Singapore. Sushi Kimura is an intimate fine dining place, designed to bring comfort, privacy and authenticity to each guest. It’s a small venue with a few seats, all facing the open kitchen for an impressive live cooking show. It’s owned by chef Tomoo Kimura, a figure of Singapore’s food scene and master of Japanese food. Give it a shot, we know this one won’t fail to please you.

Potato head

Potato head is located in an iconic heritage building of Chinatown, and this one’s one of our top picks for the best quirky restaurants in Singapore. It’s currently home to a branch of the gourmet burger joint “Three Buns”. So enjoy a mouthwatering burger on their two first floors, have a delectable cocktail on their 1939 intimate bar on the third floor, and finish your evening by spending some time on their rooftop, overlooking the city and the authentic area of Chinatown. Does that sound like a hell of a plan? Wait no more and book your spot!

Bar Rouge

This one’s not really a restaurant but it’s definitely quirky! Perched on the 71st floor of the Swissotel, this club offers a breathtaking view of Marina Bay area and is one of the hottest spots in town. It’s known for throwing some pretty awesome themed parties and it has welcomed many famous worldwide artists. Head along for a romantic dinner or a full night out with your party buddies. At Bar Rouge, you’re in for an intimate clubbing experience that’ll evoke your visual, audio, and aural senses. We won’t say more, discover it by yourself!

Venue by Seb

At Venue by Seb, expect the unexpected. This quirky restaurant in Singapore breaks all the restaurant “rules”. There’s no regular menu of starters, mains and deserts. In here, they serve their dish according to a sharing concept so you’ll get to order a selection of dishes to be shared by all at the table. And the chefs send out whatever is cooked first! Their cuisine is mainly contemporary European with selective Asian influences, and it’s honestly a joy. We recommend the cold pasta Konbu and the cauliflower fritti, they’ll leave you wanting more!

FatPapas is well known in Singapore for its delectable burgers, and last year they launched their halal menus, making it available for everyone. Located in Bali Lane, this spot specialises in all type of worldwide burgers as well as ribs, dips and more. We recommend the R&B burger, the wimpy burger, and the country fried steak, they’re honestly a must-try for all the American-food lovers. Wash them all down with one of their delicious milkshakes (the vanilla Nutella milkshake left us breathless). It’s one of the best quirky restaurants in Singapore, and one of our very favourites.
