One day in Liverpool

Liverpool is one of the UK’s most visited cities, with its top tourist attractions, musical heritage, and football drawing crowds from far and wide. Its flourishing food and drink scene is popular with locals and visitors alike, with something for everyone. So whether you’re a native scouser or visiting the city for the first time, here’s the best places to eat if you are spending one day in Liverpool.

Breakfast at The Quarter

Mediterranean, Breakfast, Brunch, Deli

Begin your day with breakfast at The Quarter, a popular pavement cafe in Liverpool’s picturesque Georgian Quarter. Perfect for people watching, planning your day ahead, and then going on to visit the city’s two cathedrals at either end of nearby Hope Street.

Choose from pastries, porridge, and smoothies, or go for a breakfast from The Quarter Classics menu to really set yourself up for the day: Eggs Florentine, Benedict or Royale, a full cooked breakfast, a variety of omelette, or the veggie breakfast of fried eggs, mushroom, spinach, tomato, hummus, fried potatoes, guacamole, and beans with toasted sourdough.

Brunch at LEAF

Head to independent tea room LEAF on Bold Street, between local landmark the Bombed Out Church and the city’s shopping district, for one of their brunch favourite in relaxed surroundings. Go for a filling LEAF breakfast sandwich, scrambled eggs with chorizo on granary toast, or shakshuka eggs on sourdough.

Lunch at Oh Me Oh My

You cannot spend a day in Liverpool without visiting the waterfront, the Royal Albert Dock, the many museums and landmarks, and taking a trip on a ferry across the Mersey too.

Enjoy a lunchtime visit to Oh Me Oh My in the historic West Africa House for their afternoon tea served weekdays from 12-2 o’clock with unlimited tea and champagne upgrades available.

From there it’s only a short walking distance from the Pier Head, the Museum of Liverpool, tourist bus stops, and the Royal Albert Dock – home to the Beatles Story, Tate Gallery and more.

In summer months guests to Oh Me Oh My can enjoy their roof garden overlooking the Three Graces and the River Mersey.

Dinner at Hanover Street Social

Round up your day in Liverpool with dinner at Hanover Street Social. Expect chargrilled steaks, burgers, hearty chicken dishes and pan fried fish and on the a la carte menu, as well as thoughtful vegan, dairy free, and gluten free menus too.

Enjoy their extensive gin bar and selection of bellinis after your long day shopping, sightseeing and socialising in this comfy city centre brasserie.
