About our guest poster, Oh Bella

Bella’s not like other mums, she’s a cool mum - if by ‘cool’ you mean addicted to carbs and dirty stories, with a special talent for causing drama on the school run. Writing about food, travel, and parenting, she also has a cultured side - get on her for history, entertainment and social issues.
Scousers are known for their strong sense of family and living life to the fullest, so it’s no surprise that there’s loads of great child friendly restaurants in Liverpool to choose from. From the city to the suburbs, from beans on toast to katsu chicken - and all the pizza in between - here’s the lowdown on where to take the little people in your life for a ‘belter scran’.

Elephant Pub & Bakehouse

Open from breakfast onwards, TV chef Simon Rimmer’s delightful gastro-pub in Woolton is a big hit with all the family the whole day through. Choose from the Little Elephants menu for under 12s, and from the main menu’s selection of pizza, pies, Sunday roasts, and more for teens.

Award-winning family friendly restaurant in Liverpool, Amalia, is nestled in The Ropewalks area, serving Italian favourites for all ages. A great retreat after a hard day’s shopping or sightseeing in Liverpool, with extensive pasta and pizza options. For something completely different, the very big kids amongst you can try their luck at the Calzone Challenge.

Sapporo Teppanyaki

Sapporo’s spectacular Asian inspired dishes and Teppanyaki chefs will impress even the fussiest kids. Noodles, tempura, and teriyaki dishes feature on their standard kids menu, and their Family Fun Days are not to be missed!

The Book

Cheap and cheerful West Derby Village eatery The Book serves small plates, pasta dishes, and tasty great value pizza from 12-9 daily. The kids menu includes a main, drink and ice cream and is a surefire hit with tiny diners. With a great bar selection for grown ups (did somebody say 25 different types of gin!?), and live music on weekend evenings, you might find yourself giving the babysitter a quick call.

Yard & Coop

Head to Hanover Street, a child friendly restaurant in Liverpool known for its buttermilk fried chicken feast in fun and quirky surroundings at Yard & Coop. With super friendly staff, chicken coop booths, and a kids menu featuring finger licking favourites – like mini chicken burgers, nuggets, and sweet corn-packed Amaizeballs – you’ll all be winners with these chicken dinners.
