Brighton date ideas

Is there anywhere more romantic than Brighton? The sea breeze, the quirky streets, the indie restaurants; it all comes together to create the perfect date night (or afternoon) atmosphere. There are so many places though that it can feel overwhelming deciding where to go, and dating is overwhelming enough without more stress! That’s why we’ve put together a list of Brighton date ideas complete with food recommendations for afterwards, so all you have to think about is whether your voice is always this high pitched??

Catching a movie

GB1 Seafood and Oyster Bar

If you’re here for Brighton date ideas, let’s start with two absolute date night classics – movies and oysters. Whether you’re catching a comedy, or hiding behind your date at a horror, you’re going to need food afterwards. And GB1 Seafood and Oyster Bar is the perfect place. (Don’t you know oysters are an aphrodisiac?) Situated in the swanky Grand Hotel, it’s fancy enough to impress any partner. Try out their tasty oyster selection, or go for something a bit more classic like fish and chips.

Nuposto

Maybe you’re going a bit more casual for movie date night? No worries. Just a couple of minutes walk away is Nuposto, a cool, laid-back Italian spot that specialises in delicious pizza and pasta, made fresh on the premises. They have a great selection of veggie and vegan options too meaning everyone will be happy. Wash it all down with their selection of cocktails and beers; a recipe for a great night.

A romantic walk on the pier

64 Degrees

Nothing quite gets the appetite up like a walk in the sea air, which is why if you’ve had a stroll along the pier, you’ll most likely be looking for food. 64 Degrees is the baby of celebrated chef, Michael Bremner. Specialising in small plates, it’s the perfect place to go and share some food with your significant other (or hopeful significant other). Not only will it let you check out their table manners at close range, you’ll get to try out loads of dishes! Plates range from Jerusalem artichoke, and curried parsnips, to meaty numbers like venison carpaccio.

Plateau

If you’re looking for Brighton date ideas where alcohol features prominently, how about heading to Plateau. This stunning little venue serves up natural wines and sharing plates, with a big focus on cheese in the south Lanes. Start with some little snacks, indulge in a platter, or just grab some tasty bite: bliss. They also have more than 20 wines by the glass available at any given time, and their cocktail list is equally impressive.

Strolling the Lanes

Curry Leaf Cafe

Call us weird if you like, but we think nothing says romance like a great curry. The heat, the flavours, the choice, it all gets us going. So if you’re wandering about The Lanes, be sure to hop over to the Curry Leaf, one of our favourite Brighton restaurants. They serve up classic Indian dishes, and items with a twist like their cod and prawn moilee which is a spicy, creamy dish from the Kerala area. If you’re thinking about taking this date back to your house, you can even grab a takeaway of your favourite dishes.

Moshimo

One of the most impressive structures in the city, you’ll be glad to know that Moshimo makes a great place for a date night. Their sushi is some of the most beautiful you’ll find and it helps that it’s super tasty too! If it’s a nice day you can sit outside and gaze at each other in th sunshine, while cute little tables and booths make the perfect setting for indoors dining. We recommend pushing the boat out and ordering one of their sushi boats: it’s a selection of maki, sashimi, and more, all served on a very Instagrammable boat. How’s that for a Brighton date idea?
