Fancy a Greek treat for lunch? The younger sister of Glasgow favourites Topolabamba and Chaakoo Bombay cafe, Mezzidakia brings a taste of the Eastern Mediterranean to Glasgow city centre. If you like your kebabs, then Mezzidakia offers a lunch deal that you won’t be able to resist. Enjoy any kebab or gyros plus fries or rice, or if you fancy something a little different go for two mezzi dishes plus a side. In the mood for Indian food? Then might we recommend Chaakoo? Taking inspiration from the Irani-Indian cafes of the 50s, Chaakoo serves up an array of small plates, perfect for sharing. They also offer a cracking lunch deal where you can opt for a light “tiffin” lunch with a Roomali Roti. It’s chaakoo style wrap made with a soft tortilla and a filling of your choice with a side of masala fries. On the rare occasion that we get some sun in Glasgow, Amarone is a great little sun trap for a casual lunch date. One of the most contemporary Italian restaurants in Glasgow this place is usually buzzing with people on the terrace and indoors, so ensure you have a booking to enjoy the dishes on offer. Some of our personal faves include the Pollo Alla Milanese, a breaded and pan-fried escalope of chicken served with linguine pasta in a homemade rich tomato and basil sauce, and the classic Tiramisu is one of the best we’ve had in a long time. We’re always on the hunt for some top tapas, and the selection at Cafe Andaluz is certainly up there with some of the best in Glasgow. You might not be on your holidays, but tapas is the one dish that will transport you to sunnier days. We recommend an escape from the office to head here for the lunch Menu Especial, where you can enjoy a fine selection of tapas and dessert.
