They opened their doors in 1965 as a cocktail bar and have since evolved from serving lip-smacking cocktails to delivering some of the best burgers and meats in town. From their classic cheeseburger to our personal favourite the ‘Warrior’, made with double stacked beef burgers and mozzarella dippers, there’s so much choice here for you, fellow burger fiends. If you do have TGI’s on your list this weekend, make sure you say hello to the new “Beyond Meat Cheeseburger”, the world’s first plant-based burger that satisfies like beef. We say thank god for TGI’s!
Transport yourself to the islands and enjoy authentically-cooked Caribbean food at Turtle Bay. Spreading Caribbean love all over the UK, this place is bursting with vibrant curry dishes, flavoursome drinks, and as for the burgers, they really need to be tried to be believed. Take your pick from the slow roasted pulled jerk pork ‘Street Burger’ or opt for the ‘Smoking Goat’, a grilled goat burger with rocket, tomato, and some ‘hawt’ hot sauce.
Venture towards Whitworth Street West, and under the railway tracks you’ll find Gorilla, a bar, kitchen, live music venue, and club from the team behind Trof and The Deaf Institute. There’s so much going on that you could quite easily start and finish your night here.
But might we suggest starting with a banging burger? Take your pick from a meaty “Le Big Mac” made with two, aged Cheshire beef patties and double Yank cheese, or opt for the scrumptious veggie option, the chargrilled aub
Slap bang in the middle of the Northern Quarter, you’ll find Dive NQ, a casual spot, ideal for a quick bite to eat, watching some sport, or dancing your socks off till the wee hours. This place is also a strong contender for some of the best burgers in Manchester. Tuck into the likes of the ‘AD Double B’ Breakfast Burger, oozing with egg and topped with black pudding. Or go for the one of a kind ‘Nacho Burger it’s Mine’ made with jalapenos, guac, and nachos. For those who love some competition with their burger, we can’t forget to mention the “Challenge Burger”. A massive topped burger that’s normally £30 but completely free if you can go it alone and eat the lot in 30 minutes! Up for it?
The Deaf Institute
Housed in the iconic Deaf Institute building, this bar, restaurant, and music hall is the perfect place to round up your pals and hang out all evening. If you’re planning a big night in one of their three bars, we’d suggest lining your stomach with one of their amazing burgers first. There’s a classic double cheeseburger for the purists, a chicken and chorizo burger, a veggie halloumi, and even a vegan seitan chicken burger. Basically, something for absolutely everyone. They’re all served with fries and for just £9, we think it’s one of the best deals around. Oh, and don’t forget to add some bacon pimped fries if you’re really starving, they’re some of the tastiest loaded fries we’ve ever had.
