About East Beach Cafe
Our food is classic English, including seaside favourites such as fresh, locally caught fish, East Beach beef burger, day boat fish soup and traditional fish & chips with pea puree. Additionally, we feature some of the best cuisine inspired by beach holidays abroad including our most popular dish, salt & pepper squid with chilli.
Hi, I had the crab salad as a main and I have to say I was hugely disappointed. For 13.50 I expected to get a whole dressed crab but was presented with a soggy salad comprising mostly of lettuce and overpowering red onion in a mayonnaise dressing. There was hardly any crab and no accompanying bread etc. Big let down from a restaurant that prides itself on its fish.
We cannot fault the food or service however we were disappointed how bland the interior was. I had seen this in Coast Magazine a while back and thought it would be more special.
An annual visit - so looking forward to our lobster & chips - unfortunately you had sold out of lobster but my friend & I had a fabulous meal - fish cooked to perfection ! Truly scrumptious - thank you 🐳🐳🐳
All 3 courses were very good, plus good service. A lovely dining experience.
We go there occasionally as we live in West Surrey. We have always had great food, service is excellent, not too pricey but always good value. The location is one of the real draws for this restaurant as it sits directly in the promenade overlooking the pebbled beach and sea. We will continue to visit the East Beach Cafe on a periodic basis.
I understand you are a fish restaurant, but you do need to cater better for vegetarians. Choices of desserts was also extremely limited (choice of one!) The service was patchy, going from excellent to under-par, and had few too many people asking how our food was (felt like every few mouthfuls.
Loved the fish soup. Good, friendly service, and very good value for money.
The East Beach Cafe is a May Bank Holiday weekend regular for us and this was our 4th visit. Sadly we were a bit disappointed this time. Although the restaurant was not full, the staff seemed run off their feet and so service was quite slow, particularly with drinks. It was a hot evening and we were desperate for a drink. Fish was lovely but the chips were under-cooked and there is really no excuse for that. Hoping it was a one off ...
