About East Beach Cafe
Our food is classic English, including seaside favourites such as fresh, locally caught fish, East Beach beef burger, day boat fish soup and traditional fish & chips with pea puree. Additionally, we feature some of the best cuisine inspired by beach holidays abroad including our most popular dish, salt & pepper squid with chilli.
Fish and Chips were good. Very pleasant staff. A little spartan side decor wise. A bit smaller than I'd imagined from the pics on the website.
This was a very disappointing visit (after many excellent ones).. The service was extremely poor and disorganised from the outset- we had to ask for everything, menus, children's colouring materials ( these are all usually offered very quickly), drinks were forgotten and worst of all our order for mains did not go through. We had to ask after waiting nearly half an hour. We had two young children with us and my husband who has diabetes had injected his insulin expecting the arrival of the mains. W were apologised to but quite frankly, I did rather expect a reduction on the bill at least. We were having a day out as a treat and normally the cafe is the highlight but this time it rather put a cloud on the day ( which fortunately was sunny)
Food was delicious, amazing view, perfect evening.
We enjoyed our visit, with a some lovely food. The service was friendl and relaxed if a little disorgainsied at times with a number of requests having to be repeated or chased. The fish stew was lacking a depth of flavour but the rest of the food enjoyed by the others in our on 5 strong group was good. The Sussex IPA was very enjoyable. Glad we booked in advance!
We had a lovely table overlooking the beach and were much entertained by the kite/windsurfers and jetskiers. My wife and I had the crab salad which had too much chilli for me (the menu did not mention chilli, so I sent it back and it was replaced) and my wife said that the chilli cloaked any taste of crab. My mother had kedgeree which had too much curry for her taste. The fish and chips were good and the sticky toffee pudding was excellent.
A lovely evening with fabulous service.
Very disappointing and expensive experience. The most popular choices on the menu, weren't available. How can you advertise your wonderful burgers and not sell them, nor two of your desserts? The food was nothing special when it did arrive. The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the staff were friendly. We won't be returning.
