Great service and loved the venue, the food was lovely although I think for afternoon tea I would expect more sandwiches, although the sausage roll was amazing. The scones could have been better, a little dry and only 1 little jam for 2 people to share. Apart from that couldn't really complain.

We eat and drink out lots in our home city, so inevitably it was only a matter of time before we visited The Rise. I'm going to start with the positives... The food was truly excellent. The ingredients and flavours were incredible and extremely well cooked and presented. Our waitress, a blond long haired young lady was very good. Unfortunately I do have to point out some negatives. We were shown to our table and my first sight was the food/crumbs which had been left all over my chair from its previous occupant. Sadly we had also been positioned next to a large family party with buggies and crying overtired toddlers. As parents ourselves, our time on a Saturday night is quite honestly a chance to escape and be adults. There were lots of other free tables which in my opinion would have been more suitable to accommodate a couple on their own like ourselves. We had to ask for a suitable fork as the one in the cutlery holder was dangerously bent, I'm unsure how that can have passed the persons attention who had set our table. As mentioned earlier...our waitress was lovely, however one of the other ladies serving (shorter dark hair) was extremely offhand with my partner. One of our drinks was whisked away before we'd even finished it. Lots of small service issues that really make a big impression. Therefore I have to say that although the food was excellent, our overall experience was quite disappointing, especially from a five star hotel. I wanted The Rise to be somewhere we could recommend to others and frequent often but sadly I cannot say that that will be the case.

I took my Mum for a birthday treat, The surroundings are beautiful but the Afternoon tea was vastly overpriced. The staff were lovely and attentive however we were sat near the bar and the staff congregated here which at times made us feel uncomfortable to have them stand so close. My mum loved the experience so that to me is worth it, however I would not recommend to a friend sadly as I do not feel it was value for money.
