Had to wait an age for a table booked weeks ago. Food was good as always but service could have been better
We live in the village and will be using you again, It was a double birthday and we all had a fab time. From service to food to value GREAT See you again Thanks
Good food, relaxed and welcoming pub.
We live in the village and dine frequently for lunch and dinner because it's just so convenient. The food is good, much better with the new menu but the table service for drinks, and everything else is terrible. It's so disappointing as the staff change all the time, they seem inexperienced too. Service is slow, staff don't know the menu and they make silly mistakes too, like bringing the wrong drinks or food order and forgetting the water, we also had a beer cleared before it was even finished. This place has so much potential but they never get it quit right. Overall value ok just don't order dessert, the "warm" Belgian brownie is never warm and they tried to charge us £11 for two kids ice creams.
Lovely food and lovely staff - had a great evening. Will definitely be coming back soon
1. 2 different gins should not be put in the same glass just because you have run out of the one requested - started to pour Tanqueray, bottle ran out and topped up the measure with Hendrick's - very unprofessional. Gins should not be mixed! Whole bottle of tonic was also added without asking. At £5.20, I think this was appalling service.. 2. The food was excellent. 3. I was asked if it was a special occasion when I booked, but no recognition was made of my husband's birthday. 4. The bottle of wine I ordered with our meal was just put on the table unopened and left for me to open, taste and serve. isn't this the waiter's job?
We were a little disappointed by our experience. There was nothing fundamentally wrong but there were a number of smaller things that added up. The staff are friendly and reasonably efficient. The pub itself looks good and is well appointed. However, in the main restaurant the halogen ceiling spotlights flickered which was distracting. The gnocci starter was tasty. The roast was not particularly refined (no better than you could do at home) but tasty enough. The smoked haddock was poor value...a skinny tail end, which I sent back. The crushed potatoes were cold and soggy and the veg likewise. Mustard sauce good. Portion size meagre. Toilets clean except the green mould behind the tap in the gents. With a little more thought all round this could become the go-to place for the area.
Thanks to Hannah & the rest of the team for going the extra mile to make our birthday celebration so enjoyable. 5 star all roundbut not sure Gareth will be recruiting you for The Choir! Many thanks!!
