About The Dining Room at Walwick Hall
The Dining Room
Our classically trained Head Chef takes traditional dishes and gives them a modern twist; elevating them to something memorable, distinct and uniquely flavoursome.
We use classic ingredients from the traditional Northumbrian Larder-locally farmed beef and lamb as well as fresh vegetables from our own kitchen garden.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served in The Dining Room which has its own distinctive ambience. Afternoon Tea is served in the comfort of our Drawing Room in front of a roaring fire, or a large bay window which overlooks the beautiful Northumberland countryside.
The Drawing Room
Enjoy a light lunch or afternoon tea whilst you take in exceptional views of the Tyne Valley across the hall’s terrace.
We serve both a traditional English afternoon tea, and a Northumberland version, full of local favourites, as well – with sandwiches, scones and classic pastries, freshly prepared by the pastry team at Walwick.
Food was lovely and reasonable priced. Drinks where ever reasonably priced.. The reason I marked down atmosphere was because there was only about 6 people in the drawing room, bar and restaurant so it was very quite but nice at the same time.
We have been looking forward to dine here for a while. When we first arrived the staff ( Sandra in particular ) were more than helpful and polite. We had a drink in the lounge then went through to the dining room. I chose the soup and my wife the quiche. Both were very enjoyable. For the mains I had the pork my other half had the lamb. Both courses were average. The roast potatoes must have been standing a while. They were soggy and disappointing not fluffy and crip as you would expect. We ordered the apple and berry crumble and the lemon tart. After a very long wait they arrived. I think we clashed with the afternoon tea folk. Both the puddings were of a very high standard. We were going to have a coffee but didn't want the wait so had it back home. We will come back as the signs are all there of great food and great service. Maybe we picked a bad day. The staff were very endearing and well trained.
Fantastic afternoon tea, friendly staff and extremely accommodating.
Absolutely stunning location, amazing food and treated so well by simply lovely staff. Thank you for such a special day, and evening meal.
Fabulous place to celebrate a special occasion. My wife and I had our thirtieth anniversary dinner there Thursday, and everything was perfect. Food, ambience, decor, setting...right out of a movie set. Can't wait to come back. Don't change a thing.
An excellent meal in lovely surroundings.
Lovely venue for an afternoon tea. Singing hinny a lovely treat
