About The Dining Room at Walwick Hall
The Dining Room
Our classically trained Head Chef takes traditional dishes and gives them a modern twist; elevating them to something memorable, distinct and uniquely flavoursome.
We use classic ingredients from the traditional Northumbrian Larder-locally farmed beef and lamb as well as fresh vegetables from our own kitchen garden.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served in The Dining Room which has its own distinctive ambience. Afternoon Tea is served in the comfort of our Drawing Room in front of a roaring fire, or a large bay window which overlooks the beautiful Northumberland countryside.
The Drawing Room
Enjoy a light lunch or afternoon tea whilst you take in exceptional views of the Tyne Valley across the hall’s terrace.
We serve both a traditional English afternoon tea, and a Northumberland version, full of local favourites, as well – with sandwiches, scones and classic pastries, freshly prepared by the pastry team at Walwick.
Lovely venue and quality of the food was good however I feel the price dosnt reflect the product, it would be more reasonable if it was around £14 per person for what you actually get.
Afternoon tea average, had to request more tea, felt waitress could have checked to see if we needed more, tea was brought, no milk, had to again attract attention. Couldn't finish cakes - asked to bring them home, normally a box is provided in other venues we have frequented, these were put into a bag, we left them as they were so squashed they looked distinctly unappetising. On leaving I fortunately checked our bill before paying which was made out for a party of four, we were a couple, lady apologised for her error.
Whenever we visit you whether for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea or evening meal we have always been delighted with the welcome, the staff service and the food. So much so that we have taken many friends to enjoy the Walwick experience and recommended you to many others, all of whom have been ecstatic in their praise. The decor, ambience and attention to detail are second to none: you really are a jewel in the Northumbrian crown of boutique hotels. May we wish you every success for the future.
Excellent food excellent service. Thanks Dan and team. We had a great night.
Fabulous food in a beautiful setting with excellent service
Had a great meal there with my fiancé in the evening, only issue we had was that it was quite warm in the dinning room but it had been quite a hot and muggy day. Would definitely go back. Great service from all the staff. All seemed to be very friendly and genuine. Room was amazing and the bar was also a great a nice atmosphere also with great service from all the staff. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Four of us had a light lunch on the terrace, and it was perfect. The food was delicious, the service attentive and welcoming, and the views simply stunning. We have booked for a family lunch at Christmastime. This country house has been converted to a boutique hotel, and if the accommodation is a good as the food was, a stay there will be a real treat.
