About Royal Spice Indian Restaurant
Our restaurant in Kilkenny provides an exquisite menu in Kilkenny for you to indulge in Indian cuisine at its finest. Our chefs come from the eastern regions and bring with them traditional and cultivating dishes that have been passed down through generations to share with you.
Syed Ahmad opened our Indian Restaurant first in 2009 and soon developed a loyal following from locals and tourists alike. Due to popular demand we moved to a larger purpose built building in 2015 and plan to enhance our reputation even further. Our ethos has remained the same since day one, to provide an authentic Indian fine dining experience which is unrivalled in Kilkenny.
Our award winning chefs use traditional Tandoori ovens and cooking methods so that your food is as authentic as you can get on these shores . Thanks for visiting our website and we hope to welcome you through our doors soon.
I wish I lived in Killkenny, just so I could come here more often! Simply amazing
Friendly staff helpful with recommendations and attentive.
We really enjoyed our meal at Royal spice, the atmosphere was very relaxed, great food and very friendly staff.
Nice food, restaurant is lovely and a pleasant evening out
Can't fault - service, food and atmosphere all great.
We were very disappointed , firstly there were seven of us . I reserved a table saying from seven to ten people for eight on 20th of May for birthday eight pm .Was told this was fine . Twice emails sent stating 7 pm I emailed back not 7 time is 8 . Day before again email stating 7 I rang explained booking got this error corrected . Asked were we bringing a cake or would we like one made . I said I was fine with restaurant providing cream and sponge cake . We arrived on the night to be shown to table with 50 th birthday balloons birthday girl is in her 30s was a little taken back . Asked for them to be taken away . Then menus were placed on table looked like early bird not offered any other menu . So once all 7 arrived we ordered . One starter my own only arrived as main course being served , one main course arrived at dessert time . Food was nice but not very hot tepid was more descriptive of the meal two man breads did not arrive at all and we had to request them half way through along with the meal that not one of airing staff had not noticed not served ( as had previously had happened with my own starter ) we had drinks and coffee and tea . Some ladies left and payed in way out Birthday cake arrived and was served with a butter knife to cut . I had to request a propper knife as it was quiet dry chocolate cake . When our bill arrived even with three ladies have already payed th bill seemed odd . So we quoted several things on it 1 . We were charged for items not ordered manly 2 Man breads and a coke 2 . There was a service charg for 7 which we were not awair of nor told about and when we queried this we were told we were offered al la cart ( we were not . Then we were told I asked for fixed menu ( I did not ever on booking or at restaurant ) that was a whopping 23 € I explained we had problems with service and also that three of our party had payed but not been charged the service charge which was now being charged in full to remaning party unacceptable in my opinion . There also was a charge of 23 for the cake ( which the next day one of our ladies saw in dunnes for 12 € a huge mark up on top of a hearty service charge . We were very taken back and the on duty manager refunded 20€ from incorrect bill . We had previously as a large group eaten in your restaurant in Patrick st and never incurred this charge or lack of service . I also explained I was qualified chef myself and had in all the years Iv eaten out in Kilkenny never been charged a service charge on top of normal food prices . And that it should be high lighted on the menu and by staff to any party eating . It indeed from start to finish would put me off booking again incase we encountered same issues of some members being charged just for food and being left with others service charge and the over pricing of cake when we had all bought two courses and drinks and tea . Coffee was a step too far . We did not leave a tip as my meal alone came to just under 70€ one of the members who had to witness this was the girl who's birthday it was only home from Canada and a was extremly embarrsed as you can imagine . Yours sincerely Naoimh Galvin .
Excellent food and dining experience
Great food will be back again...and again!
