Great food and service
I booked for a group of 8 friends and myself to have afternoon tea yesterday at Little Hallingbury Mill for a 50th Birthday and we had a really lovely afternoon! One of us had forgotten to order a gluten free option but it was no trouble and the waitress rustled up a delicious cake and sandwich stand for her without any fuss. The food was delicious. I had a gluten free option too and have never had such a nice, tasty selection as I had yesterday! Usually we gluten free people get a raw deal but not at Little Hallingbury Mill! We would definitely go back. Thank you to the staff for making such a lovely afternoon for us!
Very disappointed with the sandwich fillings, the coronation chicken was very spicy, not the traditional recipe and only one of our group could eat them! The ham was really cheap with hardly any mustard and I am not sure that the bread was even buttered. However the cheese and caramelised onion was lovely. The lemon meringues were not homemade, cases can be purchased in cash & carry and you just added the lemon filling and plonked a meringue on the top. Scones should have been left for us to add our own jam and cream, that is one of the pleasures of afternoon tea! Would have also been nice to have had tableclothS instead of a sticky wooden table. However there was ample tea and coffee. Definitely not worth the money and certainly not the service charge that I had to pay even though I am sure your website said this applied to tables of 6 or more.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent.
Lovely location and venue, although road signage could be clearer. Food was cooked and presented well and staff friendly. Starter and desserts prices are a bit pricey and selection of wines and spirits not comprehensive.
Arrived at 1.30 to be told only one choice of white wine and 2 red. Not really acceptable when the website says such a good selection. The yorkshire puddings crumbled to dust and when we asked for new ones the replacements were as bad. Felt sorry for the staff who were very friendly and helpful having to work there. The rest of the food was lovely but not getting yorkshires right in a roast ruined it for us.
The place was lovely, great setting. Food was delicious albeit not a huge amount of sandwiches. Cakes were lovely. Service was great. We we're topped up with tea as and when. Would definately go back as the afternoon was great. And recommend to friends and family.
we really enjoyed our sunday lunch with you and will definitely return . Friendly staff and lovely setting
